James Stevenson, 70

James Francis Stevenson, 70, of Breckenridge, died Saturday, May 24, 2008, in Fargo.

Jim was born Jan. 28, 1938, to Robert James and Virginia (Tryba) Stevenson in Breckenridge. He grew up and attended school there. He then began hauling gravel and truck driving. He married Darlene Waasdorp on Oct. 5, 1955, at United Methodist Church in Breckenridge. Jim and Darlene always made their home in Breckenridge.

Jim was mostly a truck driver hauling gravel and grain. He worked many part-time jobs to keep busy. Jim worked for the Breckenridge Public Utilities for a few years and following the retirement of Howard Rothwell he returned to driving truck.

He was a member of the Breckenridge Fire Department for several years and enjoyed driving the Fire Department’s “Foo” car in parades. Jim enjoyed fishing with many of his friends and loved visiting with friends and strangers alike.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert James and Virginia Stevenson

Survivors include his his son, Robert James (Karen) Stevenson of Indianapolis, Ind.; four half-sisters, MaryLou (Paul) Jackson and Norma Jean Gaulrapp, all of Breckenridge, Diane McTavish of Hagerstown, Md., Kathy Brann of Pepperelle, Ma.

Visitation: Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m., at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service at the church

Service: 11 a.m. Friday, at United Methodist Church of Breckenridge

Clergy: Rev. Terry Tilton

Burial: Riverside Cemetery, Breckenridge
