Elenor Hanson

Elenor “Ellie” Adeline Hanson, 86, of Fergus Falls, died Thursday, Oct. 2, 2008, at her home under the care of her family and Lakeland Hospice.

She was born Aug. 5, 1922, in Dora Township of Otter Tail County, the daughter of Herman and Charlotte (Berend) Luebberman. She grew up in rural Vergas and graduated from Pelican Rapids High School. She attended Interstate Business College in Fargo, and worked at the Vergas Bank in Vergas.

On Sept. 1, 1943, she married Kenneth Hanson at Indianapolis, Indiana. After World War II, they lived in Hawley, later moving to Pelican Rapids where they raised their family.

In 1974, they moved to Fergus Falls and she worked at a variety of businesses including St. Clair and Rovang, The Children’s Shop, Bon Jos, and Ann’s Hallmark, retiring at the age of 82.

She was a member of First Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls.

Ellie enjoyed church activities, baking, gardening, and time with her family.

Preceding her in death were her husband; her parents; and her only sister, Lorraine Peach.

Survivors include a son, Stuart (Betty) of St. Leonard, Md.; two daughters, Charlotte (Charles) Dale of Cottage Grove, and Laurie (Dale) Whitehead of Moorhead; five grandchildren, Jeremy Hanson, Wallis Hanson, Andrew Dale, Dane Whitehead and Katelyn Whitehead; and one great-grandson, Gus Hanson.

Visitation: Tuesday from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service at the church

Service: 11 a.m. Wednesday at First Lutheran Church, Fergus Falls

Burial: 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, at Weimann Cemetery, Vergas
