Trinity Lutheran took top honors in the 2008 Church League Division II playoffs. Trinity had to play Dalton AFLC in the playoffs and topped the Dalton club in a seesaw game for the playoff crown. The Fergus Falls Gold 14U Junior Olympic fastpitch softball team traveled to Willmar over the weekend for the Last Blast tournament and came home with the championship trophy. The girls won all three games they were challenged with by outscoring their opponents 34-3. Mariah Monke pitched two complete games allowing only one run. In the third game, Miranda Kollman pitched three strong innings, allowing only one earned run to earn the win. The Fergus Gold team will now travel to Becker Aug. 2-3 for the 14U D division state tournament. View photo »

Nine Fergus Falls wrestlers competed in a field of 1,100 wrestlers at the USA state tournament in Rochester.. Dan Revering took first with a 4-0 record at 145 and qualifie for the national tournament April 4-6 in Cedar Falls, Ia. Alex Hensch (3-2) placed fifth at 135 and Abbot Aho (2-3) finished sixth at 98. To be honored - Fergus Falls senior Megan Sjolie (10) will be honored before the Fergus Falls-St. Cloud Tech hockey game Thursday night for recently becoming the program’s all-time scoring leader. Sjolie has been playing varsity hockey since the seventh grade. The record was previously held by Alyssa Johnson, a 2005 FFHS graduate who is now playing for the University of North Dakota. Classic opens Wednesday - The Fergus Falls Otters will be putting their hockey talents back on the ice Wednesday in the first round of the Otter Holiday Classic at the Community Ice Arena. The Fergus varsity will begin play in the three-day round robin tournament by facing Mankato West. The Otter junior varsity opens at 5 p.m. with Mankato West. Teams from West Fargo and Detroit Lakes will also skate in the tournament. View photo »
Hannah Draxten (31) and her Fergus Falls teammates will take the court Thursday in the American Federal Holiday Tournament. The Class 3A Otters will play Class 2A Holdingford in an 8 p.m. game. Barnesville will meet Minneapolis Roosevelt in the 6 p.m. tilt. Friday evening’s action will see third place and championship games being played. View photo »
