-Sorry I have been a little busy lately so I haven’t posted in a few days. I found out last Thursday something I kinda all ready knew that I will need surgery some time soon. I have been fighting a bad neck all summer with the pain going down my right arm.
My golf game has really sucked this year and although I haven’t tried to use my “condition” as an excuse it really has been a factor.
I will be having a disk removed from my neck so when that time comes I will be out for awhile. The biggest thing is trying to find the right time to do it and I have found there just isn’t a right time so I suppose the sooner the better.
-Adam Everett sure had and interesting few days and actually an interesting year. He comes to the Twins and finds he has a dead arm. After he is on the DL a couple of times he gets a couple of shots and rehabs in the minors. He is ready to be called up but Alexi Casilla is playing really well so Everett is informed that he will be released. Before he can even pack his bags Alexi gets hurt and Everett gets a phone call to come back.
This past weekend Everett played some great defense and started to hit and in fact drove in some key runs. Then late in Sundays game it was his throwing error that cost the Twins the game after he had driven in two runs to give them the lead.
On Monday he again made some nice defensive plays and hit a big two run home run to give the Twins a jump on the Yankees and eventually beat them.
Talk about a roller coaster ride. It will be interesting to see what the Twins do with Everett if Casilla can come back in as early as two weeks. He has made fewer bonehead plays than Punto recently and has hit better. He also bunts better. Gardy always likes to say he goes with the guy with the hot hand and if Casilla gets hurt again you may not want to get rid of Everett to fast.
-I have been watching some of the Olympics and I do prefer the winter over the summer games. I have enjoyed the some of the events and the men’s relay in swimming the other night was awesome. I guess the French team had spouted off a little on how they were going to smash the Americans in the race. It looked like it was going to happen as the last French swimmer had a full body lead over the American going down the stretch, but the American pulled something together and not only made up the deference but won the race.
It’s moments like this that get you pumped up about sporting events even those you don’t normally see or enjoy. If you didn’t think that was awesome you weren’t paying attention.
Indeed......the olympics seems to be a dying horse nobody wants to talk about but in fact some of the worlds greatest all around athletes are competing there....its amazing to see what the world has to offer for athletes..sometimes we just assume the USA holds the worlds greatest.....everything......not to mention seeing athletes of ALL corners of the world congratulating and consoling each other....the pressure must be immense to come there and represent your country...Kudos to those Athletes...GO USA!!!!
Huskerman. The Olympic games are not a dying horse, and it seems to me everyone is talking about them; Phelps and that 4x100 relay a few nights ago, in particular. (Not to mention the fact that it knocked Bret Favre off the front page) We don't assume that the US is the world's greatest everything, but many enjoy watching to see if the world's greatest can measure up to us. If they are better than us we tip our cap to them, applaud them, but then keep rooting for the "locals" the next day. It's all about finding out who is the best in the world. And if anyone isn't sure who the best swimmers in the world are, ask the French.
hmmmm...well i beg to differ...IF the Olympics was such a great and Mighty Beast...what happened to showing the Olympics on TV channels that EVERYONE can watch?? NBC has the rights as usual BUT they are covering the games on there cable networks as well....what happened to the 24/7 coverage that itused to be??? I remember the TV Locked into the Olympics for 2 weeks straight.....It USED to be that way....And Please.....our pro sports teams we treat like gods....we assume they are the finest on the globe....the rumors of the Euro basketball leagues recruiting NBA players shows this very arrogance we carry with us Me included.....You here of all thses global athletes coming ashore to play in teh USA the land of opportunity but never OUR athletes defecting to others...
..and yes to the French better swim faster and talk slower next time...lol that was an amazing race!!
