-This will be the last Olympics for women’s fast pitch softball. Get this; the main reason may be that the USA women dominate the sport so much. That’s crazy. So the Olympics should have dropped hockey years ago because Russia dominated. Should we drop ping pong because the Chinese dominate the sport. Should basketball now be dropped because the USA is dominating that sport?
How about these other countries stepping up to the plate and just working on getting better at the sport like every other sport?
-On Olympic subjects, have I told you I just can’t stand Chris Collinsworth? He is a football analyst and they are using him in the Olympics as a, well I’m not sure just what he is doing there. He has some uninteresting reports and he just looks to darn happy. Believe it or not the guy was a wide receiver in the NFL which goes to show you that you don’t have to look like a football player to be a football player.
By the way, for some reason I haven’t enjoyed Bob Costas all that much either or the Bella guy. Geez I must have gotten up on the wrong side of the bed this morning hating on people like this.
-While we are on the negative, I have a sinking feeling that Nick Blackburn of the Twins may be a one year wonder. He has had a great season in the Twins rotation and is one of the better rookie starting pitchers in baseball, so hats off to him. But he is a sinker ball pitcher and for some reason he reminds me an awful lot of Joe Mays. My prediction and I hope it’s not true, is that this is a one year deal.
On the positive I thing Kevin Slowey is the real deal. He showed he can pitch more than 100 pitches and he struck out 12 and he doesn’t walk many, in fact he didn’t walk anybody last night.
-One more negative for the day. Tavaris Jackson may have a lot of talent but he is not a guy the team can count on. He has proven to be injury prone. Maybe some of his injuries are bad but sometimes I wonder about his heart along with his durability. He just flat out can not be counted on to not only finish a season but to finish a game. His teammates have to notice this so it is not a good deal; especially from someone who is suppose to be the leader.
I am not enjoying the Olympics as much as I have in the past either. Can't stand Collinsworth, never did like Costas, and Bella (although he has hit the nail on the head many times) can ramble on and it can be hard to understand him. His wife Martha is even harder to listen to.
My biggest problem with the Olympics is the judging. Now tell me, how can that Chinese girl do that vault and land on her knees and still win the gold medal? Gold means the best, if I'm not mistaken, and it was more than obvious that her vault was not the best. Then they have this new scoring system that gives them points immediately for the difficulty of their routine. Well, if some of those "kids" have an immediate low point routine, what incentive do they have? Here again, a low start point great routine can still be trumped by the high start point land-on-your-knees routine. Ack.
Judging has been just plain messed up for years. I am always amazed when a person finishes a routine and the judges flash; 8.0,8.0,7.5,8.5....then one judge throws out the 5.5....where did that come from? What was that judge watching?
Then to see Nastia lose gold by technicality on a routine that I thought she did better at. That really sucked.
Anyway, I do like watching how those kids can do those routines on the bars and balance beams and stuff. They all have so much talent.
The Twins have been so much fun to watch lately other than the egg they laid 2 nights ago in the 3-2 loss. It's so neat to see the confidence ooze out of Mauer and Morneau (and others). They always just look like "this guy isn't going to get me" when they're at the plate. Morneau has hit some balls so hard lately that next year that MLB might require infielders to wear helmets when he bats. Unbelievable.
Yup agreed on the Olympics commentary.....I still am in shock ove rthe 4x100 relay teams dropping the baton...i just about fell outta my chair BOTH times....the gymnastic judging jeesh....are yuo kidding me....Nastia was a far superior athlete to the chinese but again we get teh wrong end of the deal was very nice to see shawn johnson come thru on the beam......and can you believe the jamacan sprinters??????cmon......he soo let up in teh 100 meter what COULD he have run>????this Bolt kid is amazing......absolutely amazing....another Tall fast guy......like myself.....LOL....Parker.......I know you said "OH MY GOD"...lol/......he really is in a class all his own untill teh next guy comes along......did you hear..they took an average 40 time and got a 3.57????WOW thats Kelly Kassenborg speed....ROFL......J/k Kelly.....
And on another note....GO TWINS......and vikings fans have no fear.....TJACK will suck it up and take us down the field...well....he better....he needs his heart to grow into his talent and maybe he would be the special QB he has inside somewhere
I was hoping to see Jenny Finch four years from now blossom and be even hotter. Woe. Who doesn't want to watch bouncing pony tails and softball? Then again, I didn't watch any of the Olympics. It's all a joke played out by the Illuminati to distract the public under the guise of planetary harmony.
