-It has been an interesting pre-season for football this year. A lot of teams, including the Vikings, have taken it easier on their starters in the pre-season games. Lots of key players have played very little in the games and it will be interesting to see how they start out in the regular season.

The Vikings have been particularly easy on their offense especially Adrian Peterson. In fact, I have read where coach Childress has run a lot easier training camp all together. I wonder if this is a new trend and if it is will it rub off on other sports or will they cancel some pre season games. I guess it will all come down to how these players who were rested during the games perform during the regular season and how they come out of the shoot.

-It looks like the White Sox and the Twins aren’t sure if they want to win the Central title. Neither team has played all that well lately and when one looses the other one does to. Mark Rosen of WCCO TV made a comment in describing the game last night by saying the Twins scored with base hits and the Blue Jays scored with home runs. It is another case where a home run or two can win you a ball game rather quickly.

-Keeping with the base hit to home run thing, I saw and interesting stat on Brian Buscher. He has 54 hits in 55 games with 42 of those hits being singles. Not exactly the kind of numbers that a team would normally want from their third baseman. This is not to say that he hasn’t had a good year but we have a lot of guys who hit singles. But I guess singles are better than outs.

-I know I haven’t been real sharp on my blogs lately because the advertising job here has been a little hectic lately. I can tell when I’m not saying much because I have had very few comments. By the way I go in for my neck surgery this Friday morning Sept. 5 so I will be away from work at least two weeks. I can’t remember if I mentioned it here or not but I have a disk in my neck that needs to be removed and they are going to replace it with a bone and hopefully it will fuse together. So I will look like uncle Fester for a month while I wear a neck brace. This will be a real pain in the neck but as long as it takes the pain from my neck and shoulder that has been there all summer, then it will all be worth it. If I am feeling ok and can write here from home I will try.

-As you know my mom passed away last April. Today, Sept. 3, is her birthday, so Happy Birthday Mom!!!

I sure hope the Vikes have been holding back..and unleash a purple Tidal wave monday night......I would really like to see the Packers get whitewashed up and down the field..and poor Mr Rogers get lit up like a chinese new year by the defensive front....As fro teh twins jeesh maybe they have forgotten what it feels like to win the central??? Are they scared to win it??? Cmon boys bring this on home!!!!!!You can do it!!!!!(waterboy impression)

Twins are so young and most of them are into uncharted waters. Great to see the "veterans" Mauer and Morneau playing so well. Loved Joe's dramatic bases-clearing double last night. & Justin's double to start a rally.

Feel bad for Pridie, that error really cost the team. & Nathan, geez. I expect that he'll come around, but he's not exactly blowing people away these days. Maybe the "save" stat is over-rated, but effective closers are worth what they are being paid (relatively). A blown save is like a missed putt -- there is no way to make up for it.

Blackburn pitched another great game -- 6 2/3 innings, 2 earned runs, no walks and 6 K's. Seth noted that his 3.71 ERA suggests that his record should be better than 9-8. The reason is that was the sixth blown save in games he started and left with a lead. If his record were 15 - 5, as it could be, maybe he'd be talked about a little more as a ROY challenger to that guy on the DL.

Should be fun down the stretch!
