Same old Vikings

-So….What words do I use to describe the Viking/Colt game. I’m not sure I can without using a lot of four letter words. Every week they play they remind me why I will not get emotionally involved with this team. I tell you they play just so they can tear our hearts out.

Where can a guy place the blame? I suppose I could blame the quarterback which is pretty easy to do. I think TJack has a lot of athletic ability but like I have said before, this year and last, the game still seems to fast for him. The only way he can pass is if he rolls out and then he isn’t too accurate. He seems to look for just one receiver and not the open one and to top it all off I don’t think he is a leader. I don’t have confidence in him and I don’t think the players, despite what they say in the press, have any confidence in him either. This guy just isn’t the future at this position, but for now he is all we are going to get thanks to the coach.

I could blame the receivers. If the tight end catches that ball in the end zone the game may have been a whole lot different. Bernard Berrian looks like a bust to me. He was hurt in the preseason and he doesn’t look like he can get past anybody. I’m also not sure these guys can get open. By the way, is it just me or are the Viking receivers doing a Sam Cassell and always pleading for a foul when they can’t make a play?

I could blame the defense. I know it may be hard to blame these guys because they so dominated most of the game. But they always have a habit of giving up big plays at key times in the game. They did have a great goal line stand that I think they got screwed on. I don’t think that back was in the end zone.

I could blame the coaching staff. I think a lot of us have questioned Brad Childress’s way of doing things. The biggest thing about Brad is his infatuation with TJack. He drafted him and he is bound and determined to have him work out. His Viking coaching career will live and die with TJack so, so long Brad it’s been good to know ya. If coach Bevell is the guy who is calling the plays maybe they should try somebody else.

Yeah, I know it’s early and there are a lot of games left, but starting out 0-2 in games they coulda and shoulda won is not a great way to start a season.

-The announcers in the game kept commenting on how the fans didn’t like TJack and booed him. They made some excuses for him and maybe they held some legitimacy. But they haven’t lived through what we have; they haven’t seen this as much as we have so maybe they should have done some better research. By the way I’m not totally sure they were always booing TJack as much as the play that was called. Right now it looks like the same old same old Vikings.

Hard to blame the play-calling. I didn't like the way the Vikes got away from running the ball in the second half, but you gotta be able to pass sometime. And its hard to blame the defense -- they played hard and well dispite being on the field waaaay too long. Holding the oppostion to 18 points in the NFL should be enough to win. And its tough to blame the receivers who saw far too few catchable balls.

I have been of the view that the jury was still out on both Childress and TJack. But Sunday I heard the commotion in the hall and it sounded like the jury is on its way in.

I don't think there are individuals to blame but our overall approach to the game looks lame. It seems we're back in the Dennis Green days where you play to stay close and win them at the end. Beat the poor teams and splitting the games against the good teams puts you in the playoffs and that is how Green coached. I tuned into the Denver game after both of our games and I must say they are so refreshing to watch. The offense is innovative and exciting and they are always getting after it, thay almost never sit back on defense. They even must pay the refs better after watching yesterdays game. Their approach to the game is fun and our approach is boring. In Chilly's defense, they lose games because of it, but it sure is more fun to watch.
I'm not real bummed about the Colts loss, just an inch or two on a couple plays would've resulted in a win. I just don't like our approach to the game.
I do agree with TDog, I think the jury is in and I don't think Chilly wants to hear the verdict.

You can't win in the NFL with a QB completion rate well under 50%. You REALLY can't win if the QB's completion rate of passes 20 yards or more is 10%. Obviously the other team knows this stat, and if the QB only completes one pass every 10 attempts of 20 yards then I would stack everyone on the line too. Just think where Chilly's KA offense would be without AP and Chester. Everyone in the country can see that the Vikings will NOT win a super bowl with TJack and this offensive scheme. I gotta quit thinking about them. It just frustrates me to no end.

After watching tonight's game, I'm going to have to amend my comments above. The Cowboys and Eagles have real first string quarterbacks, the Vikes have a third stringer at best. The Cowboys and the Eagles have coaches, we've got nothing. I wonder when Ziggy will see it.

Its a sad but true reality at this point as talented as he COULD be Tjack just isnt the man....his decision making is about 2 seconds behind game speed...perhaps a trade is in order or better yet PRAY for a chance for the back ups to compete for teh spot...Childress ...what can you say about him...yes the Vikes are out of the papers ...but they look to be doormats for the NFC to wipe there shoes on...to see a team so talented up and down the stat sheet to be led by this QB and this Head coach is very very sad....
