Brause returning to Fergus; Van Sickle, Pearson, Conrad resign

Published Sunday, May 20, 2007

Former Fergus Falls athletic standout Karoline Brause will be taking over the head reins of the Fergus Falls girls’ soccer program this fall according to activities director Gary Schuler.

Brause will graduate from South Dakota State University in December with a major in Health Promotions. She has played four years of varsity soccer for the Jackrabbits at the Division I level.

Brause will replace Eric Van Sickle, who is moving with his family to St. Cloud. Van Sickle has been head coach of the Otters since 2002.

Fergus Falls boys’ basketball head coach Keith Pearson has resigned to pursue other professional opportunities and spend more time with his family.

Pearson was a longtime assistant coach who took over the head coaching duties three years ago.

Conrad will be leaving his post as head coach of the girls’ hockey team for a teaching and coaching position in Long Prairie. He coached the Otters for one season.

Brause will be a great coach for the girls. It's a good thing to finally get someone in there who actually played the game. I'm really excited to see what she will be able to do with the girls soccer team!

Why such doubt? I think it's a great decision that we should support. I agree with tompau. Brause has a lot of experience and great work ethic. All of her hard work has paid off, and her love of the game can now be passed on to the next group of girls coming through the program. Good luck Otters!
