U.S. is in the worst shape of its history
Published Wednesday, November 28, 2007
I want to thank you and your paper (The Daily Journal) for being our sounding board for me and other writers.
Our president seems to think it’s OK to send $10 billion overseas every month, yet he will veto just about every domestic bill that passes his desk.
The editor-in-chief of Forbes magazine claims China is blackmailing our U.S.
The Chinese will be able to retake Formosa because we will not be able to pay off our debt to them.
He also stated we are in the worst condition now then we’ve ever been and it will take decades to work out of it.

The Daily Journal is happy to host community conversations about news and life in Fergus Falls and the surrounding area. As hosts, we expect guests will show respect for each other. That means we don't threaten or defame each other, and we keep conversations free of personal attacks. Witty is great. Abusive is not. If you think a post violates these standards, don't escalate the situation. Instead, flag the comment to alert us. We'll take action if necessary. It's not hard. This should be a place where people want to read and contribute -- a place for spirited exchanges of opinion. So those who persist with racist, defamatory or abusive postings risk losing the privilege to post at all.Posted by woundedduck (anonymous) on November 28, 2007 at 4:02 p.m. (Suggest removal)
What will really be interesting is to see what kind of major problems "President Lunatic" will create in the last year of his term. Is there anything left to screw up?

Yes, but...
We are still here.

venti, as chipmunk stated yesterday, people who make such stupid postings should stop posting. If you are seriously looking for a one way bus ticket out, post your address and I think some of us will find the money to send you back home to stupidville. "we are still here" the never-ending motto of those living in denial. In 8 years time, the canadian exchange rate went from about $0.50 on the dollar to and equal exchange. That is just one neighboring and friendly country.

"Looking for a one way bus ticket out?"
You lost me. Why would I be looking for a "one way bus ticket out" of the greatest, most powerful country that has ever existed in the history of the world?
Please clarify your post, yepUbetchya. Then perhaps I will grant you your request.

I don't think yepUbetchya got Venti's sarcasm.

Why is the Republican response always "if you don't like it, then just leave"? Whatever happened to actively working to change the things you disagree with or disapprove of - is that not an option anymore? Is that a right we were forced to give up for this "war on terror?"

The reason, Elizabeth, is because we are at war! Sure, we believe in and support such things as 'freedom of speech' or 'not torturing people' and other "warm and fuzzy, feel good" values. But these are peace-time values, not war-time values. We simply do not have the time, nor do we have the luxury to tolerate those who do not whole-heartedly support us against the enemy which we fight and in fact are actually secretly hoping we loose this war. When we declared war on Japan in WWII did we just let the Japanese sympathizers walk around and talk about how wrong the U.S. was for doing so? No. We told them to leave. And the ones who did not leave we locked up in camps. So really, Jerry is being pretty nice by just telling the terrorist sympathizers to leave. At least he's not advocating their imprisonment.
