Salvation Army meets goal
Published Friday, December 28, 2007
The Salvation Army reached its $72,000 goal Thursday and can now put away its kettles for the season.
Because it was more than $6,000 short of its goal by the Christmas Eve deadline, bell ringing was extended past Christmas.
“We’re grateful and thankful for all the community did for us this year,” Captain Mike Parker said.

The Daily Journal is happy to host community conversations about news and life in Fergus Falls and the surrounding area. As hosts, we expect guests will show respect for each other. That means we don't threaten or defame each other, and we keep conversations free of personal attacks. Witty is great. Abusive is not. If you think a post violates these standards, don't escalate the situation. Instead, flag the comment to alert us. We'll take action if necessary. It's not hard. This should be a place where people want to read and contribute -- a place for spirited exchanges of opinion. So those who persist with racist, defamatory or abusive postings risk losing the privilege to post at all.Posted by Jinx_walker (anonymous) on December 29, 2007 at 3:18 p.m. (Suggest removal)
personally i think they should leave the kettles open in the communities around the area and get people to continue to donate money and help the salvation army out more so that they can do more in the communities around the whole area...
