Arby’s opens Friday

Published Thursday, January 3, 2008

Arby’s, located near Kum and Go at the intersection of I-94 and Highway 210, will be open for breakfast at 6 a.m. tomorrow, Jan. 4, general manager Dontae Miller said. The dining room is open until 10 p.m. and the drive-up window until midnight.

Just what Fergus needs - another fast food restaurant. Let the fat get fatter. I'm so glad I don't live there anymore. What a sad town that can't keep any decent restaurants in business. You people are really missing out.

No kidding....we have an empty building (the old Speedway) that you can come and open a TGIFriday's, Chili's, Olive Garden, etc. in.....!!!! Pretty please......?

No decent restaurants in business?? How long have you been gone? Applebees, Big Chief, Mabel Murphys, Jazzy Fox Bistro, Don Pablos, two Chinese buffets, The Viking, Perkins just to name a few. The restaurant/fast food chain ratio is about 50:50, about the same as any other like-sized town.

My tail is all puffed up, I like Arbys.

I am glad that Fergus has Don Pablos, I think it is one of the best restaurants in in the area. It is the best mexican restaurant that I have ever been to. (I've never traveled out of the midwest) I would like to see a good steak house come into town. What happen to Speedway anyhow? I enjoyed eating there, good food at a fair price. If we really have to get any more fast food places, Taco Bell would be nice.

Chip, harass them to bring back the Arby-Q. I can't believe they don't sell that thing anymore. Ridiculous.

WOOHOO!!! I can't wait! :)

I love arby's...I will be there friday to give them my business!!

The Speedway closed because they heard there may be a smoking ban in their future.

Posted by chipmunk (anonymous) on January 3, 2008 at 4:49 p.m. (Suggest removal)

Speedway closed because nearly everyone who ate there left sicker than a dog.

I can't believe how you people get so worked up over fast food. You talk as if you're connoisseurs of fine dining. Arby's is the same unhealthy junk packaged differently. The beef is shaved instead of in a patty form? Is it your perogative to be flabby and out of shape? Sure.
As for the listings of restaurants: run of the mill chains like perkins and applebees don't count. Real selection comes when you have places like Jazzy Fox and Mabel's, but they are on the higher end of the dining spectrum as far as price. Chinese buffets are even worse than fast food. Don Pablos isn't all that good and the service is awful.
You people line up and rub your hands with glee when you hear of some disgusting fast food chain taking root in your hometown.
Such is the wave of the future where the entire center of town will be dead, but there will be every box store and fast food chain known to man out next to the interstate and everyone will have some form of heart disease or obesity. Perhaps the city leaders should buy the mall and turn it into a year round state fair where you can consume deep fried cheese curds and scotch eggs to your hearts content.
YUMMY I LIKE HAMBURGERS!!

Yippeee..I'm going to Fergus Falls just so I can eat at Arby's..lol.

Well pardon me if I like their Market Fresh Sandwiches, I don’t eat at McDonalds nor Burger King nor Pizza Ranch, but I do like Arbys. I did have a dinner of pretension once at Jazzy Fox and stopped eating at Mables until spring when the sidewalks will be cleaned by rain.

Ar-friggin-bys!!!

Count this chunky broad in for extra packets of Horsey Sauce for her 3rd butt cheek!

Hey Frankenfarter - Not everyone that eats at fastfood chains is flabby and out of shape. There is such thing as eating in moderation and excercise.
Also I have never received bad service at Don Pablos.

Posted by americanwerew31 (anonymous) on January 3, 2008 at 10:10 p.m. (Suggest removal)

Hooray Arby's!!! I say the more the merrier; more selection, more price competition. I am very satisfied with MOST of the fine eating establishments that this city (and I use that word VERY lightly, lol) has to offer. I would rather there be competition than monopoly by gosh!

P.S. Chipmunk- you always make me smile, keep up the good work!

Happy New Years Everyone!!!

And let us not forget the newly opened Union Cafe -- they have great home made, from scratch, food. The bread for the sandwiches is fresh from Falls Baking, which is right next door. The soup is wonderful (try the spicy gumbo on Tuesday or the chicken noodle on Wednesday), and the Caesar salad has homemade dressing with enough garlic to satisfy even the most ardent garlic eater. Also, try the sliced pear and gorgonzola sandwich on whole wheat walnut bread on Fridays, or the reuben on fresh caraway rye bread on Tuesdays. If you haven't been there yet, what are you waiting for?

I'm thinking Arby's....

Really I just had to defend the GREAT service, EXCELLENT food, and FRIENDLY staff at Don Pablos. They are one of the best!!!!!

Judging by the tone of frankenfarter's post, it's no wonder he/she would get bad service! I've never once recieved bad service at Don Pablos. Maybe it's just because I was taught manners as a child and I remember to say please and thank you.

I wrote this little ditty for frankenfarter. Wanna hear it? Here it goes...

I'm rubbing my hands with glee
I'm thinking about Arby's
I'll take a roast beef with cheese
Or some curly fries please...you can...
Cook them them in grease, or cook them in larder
just don't make me sit next to frankenfarter

He thinks we're all so worked up over fast food
And that puts him in a really bad mood
If Don Pablos wasn't so GREAT
he wouldn't be so irate
and imply that we all could lose some weight

Yes I'm rubbing my hands with glee
I'm thinking about Arby's
I'll take some mozzarella sticks
and a couple of tooth picks
One for when I'm done eat'n
one for frankenfarter's seat'n
I'll be on my way

I'm hoping my roast beef with cheese
doesn't give me heart disease
because according to frankenfurter
every restaurant should be charged with murder

All of this is good
because at least I'll be enjoying my food
without someone like frankenfarter spoiling my mood!

Yes I'm thinking about Arby's
and I'm rubbing my hands with glee
the food isn't bad and neither is the service
I'm sure glad I came to Fergus

And rest...

Happy New Year!

You people wouldn't know a good resaurant - or what quality food and exquisit customer service is - if it hit you in the face. Now you want a Wendy's too? And Olive Garden, TGIFridays, or Chilis?!?!? THAT IS STILL ALL GARBAGE FOOD!! PLEASE! Have any of you traveled outside of your little Fergus world? So, so sad. I hope never to have to eat in Fergus again. I'd rather starve. Your community can't support any decent restaurants OR stores. No wonder the young, educated people leave never to return. UGH!

IAmLedgend- Fergus used to have a Wendy's. It closed.

Doubled, did you really mean to suggest that if we had better dining options more young people would stay here?

MMMMMMMMM! I had Arby's for lunch and it was excellent! You all should try the marketfresh sandwiches.....YUMMY! I personally wish they had fountain coke products though!

Posted by cmrx44 (anonymous) on January 4, 2008 at 1:49 p.m. (Suggest removal)

i had arby's for lunch too! wonderful service from the employees, and besides the long line of cars, fast service also. i do agree that speedway is a great place for something like fridays, olive garden (please!) ruby tuesdays, etc. but instead of making a fuss about it like some people that have nothing better to do....why not make a fuss over something more serious than food? just a suggestion. and sassica, i second the fountain coke products!

I'm young and educated and I moved back TO Fergus after finishing my masters because it's a better place to live than the big city. I worked out this morning (not a fat slob), and I'm taking the wife and kids to Arbys for dinner tonight. I like the 5 for 5 roast beef deal myself, can't wait. It's funny how old people freak out when something in town changes. They'd rather see the price of coffee go down by 3 cents than to see a new business open in town.

Posted by tink (anonymous) on January 4, 2008 at 2:30 p.m. (Suggest removal)

I ate at Arby's for lunch, too! It was really ,really good!!
The cheesecake bites are amazing. Guess I'll be at anytime fitness even more to work those off. I agree about the coke products. The only other thing I noticed is that the employees have their break in the lobby. They must not have a breakroom. There was no place to sit and there were two employees sitting at different tables. This was at lunchtime.

I have to say chipmunk you are a funny mofo! And doubled I beg to differ but everyone that grew up in fergus falls ALWAYS ends up coming back if they even leave!!! And YES we do need some more resturants! MABEL MURPHYS is my number 1 on the list right now. Awesome food and drinks!!! I'm always makin it mabels!! And BUSINESS's in fergus falls we need them PLEASE open more of them. Start with the Westridge Mall PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm thinking Arbys! And I've been rubbing my hands with glee for a month and even marked it on my calander!! Oh and as far as speedway they just plain sucked horrible food and service thank god they closed and we all pray something good opens such as.... well you all know!!

Glad to see Arby's in Fergus Falls! I'd LOVE to see a White Castle! LOVE THOSE SLIDERS!!!!! Also, a Culver's would be nice. And a Ponderosa or Bonanza. Darn it...now I've made myself hungry...going to go raid the fridge, lol.

Posted by Mel (anonymous) on January 5, 2008 at 10:28 a.m. (Suggest removal)

I think I'll eat there today, Wish we had a Hardies too.

Posted by fergus187 (anonymous) on January 5, 2008 at 11:20 a.m. (Suggest removal)

wow!, so much dissention over the opening of a fast food resturant?
I have ate there twice now and am satisfied!, certainly a better sanwich can be had, but where for simular cost?
all in all, you get what you pay for and it's good!
as for the individual claiming all food in Fergus is garbage?, what food do you consider palatable?
perhaps others would too, if in fact we are simply drowning in trash food here in Fergus?
at least there are a few more jobs with this new bussiness, and another dinning option.
personally I would like to see a Schlotzsky's Deli open up here.
perhaps a good burger place too, the best I've found in the area is at the american legion in underwood.
there is definantly alot of room for better food in Fergus, but it could also be alot worse!

I for one do not miss ponderosa or wendys at all!, and perkins could close and I wouldn't even notice, except for the fact the Viking and Big chief would get a bit more bussiness with their better food options and prices,
I do miss A&W though!
I am interested in this union cafe?
never heard of it before?

as for Fergus not being able to support what "Doubled" considers decent resurants and stores, could you be more specific?
please educate us as to what decent is!
maybe we can all learn to spend a weeks wage on one meal, and 2 weeks wages on a new outfit, and then meet your standards of decency!
we might even have enough money to pay rest of our bills on the remaining weeks wages.
comparing the economic situation of Fergus falls to the economics of say, the twin cities metro area is just plain absurd!
perhaps our food options make you prefer starvation, but our murder rate is a bit more livable!
in the end, what do you care?, we live here and eat here, and if eating unhealthy cheese and meat on bread brings some happiness to someone, why do you feel compelled to try and take that enjoyment away?
or is it only in taking others joys away you find any yourself?
thanks!, and take care!

I do remember a time when there were two Hardees in our town! Wonder why they closed?

Posted by NE2FL (anonymous) on January 5, 2008 at 11:39 a.m. (Suggest removal)

I'm not sure what is better, having hundreds of fast food places within 10 miles, like I have here, or just a few like in Fergus. I love keeping up to date with everything going on there and very much enjoy reading the comments. However, it is amazing to me that a article on a new Arbys may end up being one of the most commented on stories of 2008.

Posted by 1125thmp (anonymous) on January 5, 2008 at 12:37 p.m. (Suggest removal)

Sure is NE2FL. Just like when Jay Leno had Fergus on the Tonight Show as the top thing for whatever year it was that Fergus purchased new garbage cans, lol. I find that Fergus is home. Be it from me to knock home. Embrace it, I find it comforting that at least I enjoy where I live. If you don't fine, you moved. Perhaps in commenting on what it is and why it should be that people live somewhere more positive things can be said. Practically non exsistant crime, a generous and courteous town. I wouldn't trade it for anything. All places have things that annoy and twist out of proportion, but we all deal with it and move on. Have a good day neighbors of Fergus Falls.

Don't mess with my Mt. Dew! Don Pablos is Fantastic in every aspect. However the Big Harvest Buffet/Mongolian Grill can close like the day it opened as the food has no taste. Go Hunan Spring!
HELP WANTED:Somebody please open a BWW's in the old Speedway, A Great sports bar environment is needed in FF.

Oh yeah, doubled you really suck!!! You wanted out of the community now STAY OUT!!

I can't believe people sit there and complain about places closing in Fergus, and then when we get a new place opening and all some do is complain about how it is opening. I think it is great and gives more people job opportunities. Yeah it's fast food, but now instead of having only greasy burgers to choose from we have more options. Thank you Arbys for coming to Fergus.

Posted by Mel (anonymous) on January 6, 2008 at 12:32 p.m. (Suggest removal)

I didn't go in there yesterday, the place was too full. I'll go another day.

Posted by chipmunk (anonymous) on January 6, 2008 at 3:53 p.m. (Suggest removal)

We tried to eat at Arbys on Friday at 4:00 pm to beat the crowd, there was no place to park and a long line at the drive up. We tried again this morning at 10:45 am and were successful . The Market fresh Roast Beef was excellent along with the Jalapeño poppers. Service was quick but could have been faster if more tills were open. There were a lot of company or franchise people supervising the operation and preparation of food itself. I worry what will happen when they leave, some of the obvious Fergus help left me feeling less than confident of continued good service and food but I could be wrong, time will tell.

Posted by clrkrr (anonymous) on January 6, 2008 at 7:53 p.m. (Suggest removal)

I also am a HUGH fan of Arbys. It was my first job when I lived down south and is still one of my favorites. As far as everyones comments.....Get over it, if you don't like Arbys- JUST DON'T GO THERE. People have to understand one of the MAIN reasons for the arby's is to get NON-Fergus residents to come to our town and spend money. It gives them more options then Burger King or McDonalds since you can't see much of the resturants from the interstate. So travelers will bring money into Our community. Isn't that worth something?

Posted by sassica (anonymous) on January 7, 2008 at 9:48 a.m. (Suggest removal)

I really like the idea of Buffalo Wild Wings in Fergus. I really don't think the old speedway building is the right place though. Why doesn't someone buy up the land by 210 Lube and put a sweet sports bar there? That would be a great place for BWW's!

We need a sports bar BAD!!!!
