Ryan McGuire, assistant manager at Stop-N-Go South, Fergus Falls, sold a lot of windshield washer fluid the past few days after temperatures warmed up and cars became dirty. The customer is Jeoffree Matheny, Fergus Falls.
During the past few days, after temperatures warmed up, Stop-N-Go South Assistant Manager Ryan McGuire found that customers wanted something more in addition to gasoline and a cup of coffee. That something more is windshield washer fluid.
This same scenario was played out at other convenience stores in the Fergus Falls area.
“People run low on washer fluid this time of year,” McGuire said. “There’s nothing worse than to be driving along, having your windshield sprayed with water and dirt, and not being able to activate your washer fluid. This also can be a dangerous situation.”
Windshield washer fluid — also called windshield wiper fluid, wiper fluid, or screen wash — is a fluid for motor vehicles that’s used in cleaning the windshield while the vehicle is being driven.
Windshield washers are installed in different cars in different ways.
All late model cars have the washers operated by electric motors, mounted separately or mounted in combination with the wiper motor. All types are controlled by the driver.
The nozzle arrangements are different in the respect that the locations can range from a single base with adjustable offset nozzles, to a single nozzle for the right and left sides, mounted on the cowl panel and individually aimed at the windshield.
Several types of fluids are available on the market such as ready-made fluid. Anti-freeze may be added to a mixture to give the product a lower freezing temperature. More popular is an ethanol winter mix such as ethylene glycol.
Stop-N-Go South also was a popular location in recent days for drivers stopping to wash their vehicles in the Stop-N-Go automatic car wash.
“We’ve had between 30 and 40 vehicles use the car wash today (Friday),” said McGuire. “People waited for the warmer temperatures to arrive.”

WOW, this must be a slow news week for the Journal? Talking about windshield washer fluid and how cars are each made differently. Keep the news coming I guess.
