Work continues on sirens:

Following a malfunction last week during the monthly test of the Fergus Falls emergency siren system — and a subsequent malfunction on Wednesday of this week — technical support personnel are working to get the system up and running again.

Captain Steve Adams of the Fergus Falls Police Department said this morning that the malfunctions are part of a radio signal issue. Seven sirens are positioned at different locations throughout the city. The monthly test is conducted about 1:15 p.m. the first Wednesday of each month.

Police urge drivers to slow down:

Fergus Falls police urge motorists to continue to use caution and to slow down in light of icy roads in recent days.

“Many drivers are doing just that, and we’re happy to report that there were no traffic accidents — despite the snowfall Wednesday evening — within the city limits,” Captain Steve Adams said. “Many drivers have learned from experience, and are keeping safety in mind.”

Hit and run:

Fergus Falls police reported a hit and run following a two-vehicle accident at 7:43 p.m. Wednesday at the intersection of Lincoln Avenue and Tower Road on the west side of Fergus Falls.

One vehicle, which had come to a stop, was rear ended by another vehicle. The suspect vehicle, a newer model gold-colored SUV, left the scene and reportedly headed east along College Way.

The Daily Journal is happy to host community conversations about news and life in Fergus Falls and the surrounding area. As hosts, we expect guests will show respect for each other. That means we don't threaten or defame each other, and we keep conversations free of personal attacks. Witty is great. Abusive is not. If you think a post violates these standards, don't escalate the situation. Instead, flag the comment to alert us. We'll take action if necessary. It's not hard. This should be a place where people want to read and contribute -- a place for spirited exchanges of opinion. So those who persist with racist, defamatory or abusive postings risk losing the privilege to post at all.

Isn't a hit and run considered a traffic accident?

My vehicle was hit and run in the Northern aire lanes parking lot last Thursday night from 8:45pm to 11:20pm while I was bowling. A police officer came to the scene and took pictures and a report but nothing in the Daily Journal!!! Today I see a hit and run in the paper that happened yesterday. Just wondering why some get in and some don't.

blackrat- They should just tell you that up front instead of pretending to file a report. I must not be an important enough person in the community

You would at least expect on a hit and run case for them to put it in the paper. This way maybe someone witnessed it and could contact me or the authorities.

FFPD does not have control over what the FFDJ puts in their newspaper... So why are we complaining about the police department?
