Frosty heating up online
Published Saturday, March 29, 2008
We shouldn’t be surprised because there seems to be an Internet home for everything, but we still shook our heads a bit to learn that the Daily Journal story on a family of snowmen in a Fergus Falls driveway found some inline magazine attention. “Today's Snowman” was granted permission to republish our story and photos. You can view them and the interesting site at www.historyofthesnowman.com...
n It appears that there are some untrue rumors circulating around town about the closing of Fergus Music. Steve and Barb Baker report that Fergus Music is not going anywhere, nor is their “Operation Happy Note,” which provides musical instruments for soldiers. The Bakers have, however, discontinued music lessons at their downtown store...
n There’s a new book in the Otter Tail County Mystery series penned by Rochester-based author Gerald Anderson. Titled “Murder Under the Loon,” the book chronicles a late night snowmobile ride gone bad with a frozen body being discovered near a giant concrete loon. Sound familiar? We wonder what the giant concrete otter in Adams Park thinks about that one. Anderson’s first book in the Otter Tail Mystery series was “Death Before Dinner.” More information on the book can be found at www.midnightinkbooks.com...
n ShoreMaster has been making headlines this week with the introduction of a new fishing tool called the Aviva Fishin Buddy. According to a report this week on Minneapolis-based WCCO television, the “buddy” is an18-inch boat that comes ready to catch fish complete with hook-line, sinker and batteries. You just put the boat in the water and use a remote to set it on its way. When the bobber goes down just click on the remote and bring the boat back to shore — hopefully with a fish in tow. It costs about $60.

The Daily Journal is happy to host community conversations about news and life in Fergus Falls and the surrounding area. As hosts, we expect guests will show respect for each other. That means we don't threaten or defame each other, and we keep conversations free of personal attacks. Witty is great. Abusive is not. If you think a post violates these standards, don't escalate the situation. Instead, flag the comment to alert us. We'll take action if necessary. It's not hard. This should be a place where people want to read and contribute -- a place for spirited exchanges of opinion. So those who persist with racist, defamatory or abusive postings risk losing the privilege to post at all.Posted by Mauibill (anonymous) on March 30, 2008 at 12:10 p.m. (Suggest removal)
Just once.... just once... I’d like to read a story without someone making a comment at the end like the one above…. Just once...
(I had to go to MS Word and write this message first for fear of spelling something wrong)

Insecure people like to find fault with others, or fault in print...it makes them feel better about themselves.

I am impressed with your response. Very mature, humble, and didn't fly off the handle. Really... I am impressed.

I don't think many people are aware of the hard work and dedication Steve and Barb Baker put into sending instruments troops to Iraq. It is unreal how much time they put into this. They have a great msic store as well. Anyone who has an extra minute should stop in and check it out, see what they do! I don't think they are going anywhere!!!!!!
