Vandalism near Hillcrest field:
Fergus Falls police are investigating damage near the Hillcrest football field after the driver of a pickup flagrantly tore up grass. The vehicle later was located along Westside Drive about 6:30 p.m. Thursday.
A male, at the home of his parents, admitted to police that he had been “showing off” to his friends. Charges, if any, will be dependent on the extent of the damage near the football field.
No injuries:
Three drivers escaped injury in two separate vehicle accidents in the county on Thursday. Two vehicles were involved in a collision at the intersection of Highways 34 and 125 and a third individual escaped injury in a one-vehicle mishap near Highways 210 and 29.
The two-vehicle mishap was reported to the sheriff’s department at 3:42 p.m. Thursday. The vehicles were driven by Preston Kawlewski, 23, of Ottertail, and Ally Monson, 16, of Dent. The Monson vehicle, a 2004 Saturn, skidded into the southwest ditch. Kawlewski was driving a 1988 Ford.
The accident near Highways 210 and 29, east of Henning and south of Deer Creek, took place at 1:35 p.m. Thursday. Marie Truax, 77, Deer Creek, lost control of her vehicle which entered the ditch and went another 75 yards before being stopped in deep snow.

The Daily Journal is happy to host community conversations about news and life in Fergus Falls and the surrounding area. As hosts, we expect guests will show respect for each other. That means we don't threaten or defame each other, and we keep conversations free of personal attacks. Witty is great. Abusive is not. If you think a post violates these standards, don't escalate the situation. Instead, flag the comment to alert us. We'll take action if necessary. It's not hard. This should be a place where people want to read and contribute -- a place for spirited exchanges of opinion. So those who persist with racist, defamatory or abusive postings risk losing the privilege to post at all.Posted by Apples (anonymous) on April 4, 2008 at 12:24 p.m. (Suggest removal)
The last paragraph needs to be at the top with the football field.

I like how people are more worried about how easy/hard sections are to read rather then being glad people were not hurt.
Just my oppinion of course.

You really shouldn't be stating "people" when only one person was worried...

What's sad is some people (i.e. Apples, etc) seem to get their kicks out of bashing every single article posted on this site. If you are really feeling the need to be critical, why don't you go down to the Daily Journal office and discuss your concerns in person with the Editor? Complaining about every little thing via an anonymous online posting doesn't take much courage and to me is a sign of someone who must not have real high self esteem because he/she feels the need to bash something in order to make him/herself feel better. I say the likes of Apples need to find something better to do with their free time (i.e. work for a goodwill cause).

Perhaps Apples is an English teacher like myself and can't help editing everything he/she sees. It's not a choice - it's a lifestyle. Perhaps if the articles were written better, people like Apples and myself wouldn't have to point out the mistakes. But that isn't likely to happen, is it?

melindakay - did you ever stop to think it was an honest web editing mistake and not an error in the article itself?

I hope the English teacher-posters aren't as critical on their students as they are on the FFDJ peeps.

It was incorrect in the print version as well. And Saturday's print edition said "Monday" on the front page. Sloppy editing implies that there is a good chance that there are inaccuracies in the articles themselves.
