Pop bottle bomb injures:
A 14-year-old boy was injured when a pop bottle bomb exploded late Monday afternoon. He was treated at Lake Region Hospital.
A Fergus Falls woman told Fergus Falls Police officers that her son had been with friends when the bottle exploded, spraying him in the face.
The content of the bottle, as well as the extent of the boy’s injuries, are unknown.
Burglar arrested along West Spruce:
Brandon Bradley Schletty, 20, was charged with three counts of second degree burglary after Fergus Falls Police were called to the 900 block of West Spruce at 10:39 p.m. Monday.
The owner of the shed had staked out the area after tools and other items went missing sometime between 5 p.m. Sunday and 6:15 p.m. Monday.
When Schletty and another man, Karl Arthur Ledoux, approached the shed later Monday night, the property owner called police.
Schletty is being held on burglary charges, which include thefts at two other dwellings in the same area. Ledoux was released.
Catalytic converters stolen:
Gary Wegscheid, owner of Gibbs Hwy. 10 Sales in New York Mills, reported the theft of three catalytic converters to the Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Department Monday afternoon.
The converters, valued at approximately $1,200, had apparently been taken off of vehicles over the weekend.
The Sheriff’s Department is investigating.

The Daily Journal is happy to host community conversations about news and life in Fergus Falls and the surrounding area. As hosts, we expect guests will show respect for each other. That means we don't threaten or defame each other, and we keep conversations free of personal attacks. Witty is great. Abusive is not. If you think a post violates these standards, don't escalate the situation. Instead, flag the comment to alert us. We'll take action if necessary. It's not hard. This should be a place where people want to read and contribute -- a place for spirited exchanges of opinion. So those who persist with racist, defamatory or abusive postings risk losing the privilege to post at all.Posted by lookitup (anonymous) on April 22, 2008 at 1:11 p.m. (Suggest removal)
Another fine upstanding local citizen. Bye-bye Brandon - hope you enjoy prison.
9/7/07 - Darel Leroy Farr, 18, and Brandon Schletty, 19, were arrested yesterday and charged with first degree burglary and auto theft. Wednesday evening the pair allegedly took cash, a credit card and a 2003 Buick Rendezvous from a residence on the 500 block of West Spruce, according to Fergus Falls Police. The vehicle belonged to Farr’s grandparents. Farr and Schletty intentionally put the vehicle in the Otter Tail River, police said, where it was discovered Thursday morning off Benjamin Lane near Cavour

eagle-eye - he got credit for serving 96 days prior to sentencing (12/10/07), so he had another 84 to serve, which would put him out about March 3. Wow, he made it over a month without getting caught. I wonder if he cuts his own hair.

Whoops! For once my "eagle eye" missed a fact, resulting in my question. Thanks for clarifying what I should have seen.

Gross I heard that Schletty likes to take women's underwear. What a weirdo. To you girls whose apartments he broke into and took underwear, I think you should look into having him charged with some sort of creepy sexual preditor crime. Yuk, this guy is creepy!
