Bulldogs reach Section 8AA finals
Otters ousted by Detroit Lakes

THIEF RIVER FALLS — Carley Nelson ran her record to 10-0 as the unbeaten Otter Tail Central Bulldogs blanked Warroad 5-0 Tuesday for a berth in the Section 8AA finals.
Nelson held the Warriors to just four hits as she improved her record to 10-0. Nelson strike out six in her complete game performance.
Kelsey Koep drove in a pair of runs for the Bulldogs while Lindsay and Carley Nelson went 2-for-4 with one RBI. Jen Severs homered for the Bulldogs.
The two clubs were locked in a scoreless duel for the first three innings.
The section finals are set for Thursday. The Bulldogs, who played Pine City for the right to advance to state in Class A last year, need just one victory to clinch a state trip. Eric Olson’s state-ranked team is presently 22-0.

The Fergus Falls Otters committed six errors and left eight runners on base Tuesday in a one-run Section 8AA loss to Detroit Lakes.
“This game was especially tough,” said Fergus Falls head coach Renee Erickson. “In playoff softball you can’t afford that.”
Brit Larson went 2-for-4 at the plate for Detroit Lakes and drove in two runs. Jennifer Wenner went 2-for-4 with one RBI.
Fergus Falls’ Nikki Clouse went 3-for-4 with one run and two stolen bases. Devon Clark went 2-for-4
Aimee Magnuson and Aly Erickson shared pitching duties for the Otters with Erickson taking the loss.
The Otters were 12-9 on the season and finished third in the Central Lakes Conference.
