‘Click it or Ticket’ campaign underway
Published Friday, May 30, 2008
The Otter Tail County Safe Communities Coalition would like to remind you of the “Click It or Ticket” seat belt enforcement effort which is currently underway.
The campaign officially started May 19 and will continue to run through next week. During this time our area law enforcement officers have been on the lookout for those not wearing a seat belt.
Most people in our State choose to wear a seat belt. As of August 2007, 88 percent of Minnesotans comply with the state’s seat belt law — a record high for the state, and an increase from 83 percent use rate recorded in 2006.
But, for those choosing not to wear their seatbelt, law enforcement is more than ready to write a ticket.
If you feel the choice is yours and don’t care about wearing your seat belt, at least think about those who care about you. Do you really want your loved ones getting a knock on the door from law enforcement notifying them that you died in a crash? Think about those you would leave behind and how they didn’t get a choice.
As advocates of safe driving, we remind you to buckle up — everybody, every seat, every time. Seat belts save lives. Wear yours and stay safe. And remember, Click It or Ticket.

The Daily Journal is happy to host community conversations about news and life in Fergus Falls and the surrounding area. As hosts, we expect guests will show respect for each other. That means we don't threaten or defame each other, and we keep conversations free of personal attacks. Witty is great. Abusive is not. If you think a post violates these standards, don't escalate the situation. Instead, flag the comment to alert us. We'll take action if necessary. It's not hard. This should be a place where people want to read and contribute -- a place for spirited exchanges of opinion. So those who persist with racist, defamatory or abusive postings risk losing the privilege to post at all.Posted by thethinker (anonymous) on May 30, 2008 at 2:30 p.m. (Suggest removal)
Click it or ticket...just another way to control people's lives. How far removed are we from getting ticketed for not wearing warm enough clothing during the winter? Or for eating too much junk food? Both can cause serious injury or death. The antiseptic society...becoming a way of life.

What an idiotic statement. I think you're taking this noise ordinance thing a bit far...
