Car hits telephone pole

Published Thursday, June 19, 2008

A 16-year-old Fergus Falls girl was taken to Lake Region Hospital early Wednesday afternoon after her car hit a telephone pole near Main Street and Broken Down Dam Road. According to the Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Office, the woman was traveling west on Main Street when she veered too far to the right off the road.

She lost control of the vehicle and entered a ditch, striking a power pole.

The driver of a passing vehicle took the woman to Lake Region Hospital with unknown injuries.

Her vehicle sustained severe damage.

Maybe we should rise the age of getting a DL. There was no reason for her to go off the road. It's not snowy or icey and there was nothing in the road. Just not paying attention?? At 16 years old you are still very immature and shouldn't be driving.

disagree, look at all the 16 year olds that are driving with out any problems. there are plenty of 20, 30, 40 year olds that are also to immature to drive.

And the 20, 30, 40 years old most likely are driving without a driver’s license. At 16 you think you might think that they are mature. Most of the time they dont use the best judgment. Really at 16 you are very very young and you don't realize that until you are older. Yes some people never learn and thats why they go through the system and not have a licenses.

We used to live out on the broken down dam road, Mt. Faith, and the traffic on that road is insane! Young or old, we busted them all driving like they were invincible! In 2000 a young man was killed from striking a tree, and a few years prior to that, my sister was almost hit by a speeding car. I think some roads people think that the signs that have speed limits on them mean minimum speed. The streets on the edge of town are the worst ones. They need to be patroled more than the streets in town.

i heard there was loose gravel on the road causing her to be sucked in to the ditch. It could have happened to anyone.
