Pumping limit is correct
Published Tuesday, July 8, 2008
The idea of creating a pumping system to lower the level of Pebble Lake to preserve the city beach, park and property of lake residents, is certainly a good one.
However, when it comes to spending city tax dollars, the Fergus Falls City Council would be correct in setting a reasonable spending limit.
Last week, bids to create the pumping system were over the $300,000 budgeted. Considering the other projects the city is considering – from a new law enforcement center to a library expansion to street improvements – city officials cannot afford to be over budget on the pumping system.
The only choice is to find a more affordable plan, while still accomplishing the primary mission of reducing Pebble Lake water levels.
We need to protect our city beach, but we also need to good stewards of our tax dollars.

What good is a city beach if you can't swim in the lake for fear of getting swimmer's itch anyway? How about put those extra dollars towards a pool.

300,000 in local tax dollars for an unusable beach and a couple overly-advantaged landowners to benefit?
I think it's time I consider running for city counsel.
anyone with issues they would like to see addressed, please email me at metasonics@hotmail.com
