New York Times guilty of censoring McCain
Published Thursday, July 24, 2008
Like myself, most Americans have had the opportunity to read in its entirety, or at least hear a summary of the key points, the op-ed submitted to the New York Times by presidential candidate Barak Obama .
As candidate John McCain's counterpoint article was denied an opportunity for equal press time by the editorial staff at the Times, perhaps it would be good enough to print in the Daily Journal.
Regardless of which position any of us agrees with, it seems logical to have the opportunity to decide our personal positions based on full access to all the available information rather than being spoon-fed only what the mainstream media deems acceptable.
I believe that this was called censorship when the former USSR propaganda machine practiced similar types of information screening.
I hope that our local media will rise above their big city peers and grant the general public the courtesy of being a truly informed populace. Perhaps we'll find that our local readers are more capable than New Yorkers of in-depth analysis of varying viewpoints.

The Daily Journal is happy to host community conversations about news and life in Fergus Falls and the surrounding area. As hosts, we expect guests will show respect for each other. That means we don't threaten or defame each other, and we keep conversations free of personal attacks. Witty is great. Abusive is not. If you think a post violates these standards, don't escalate the situation. Instead, flag the comment to alert us. We'll take action if necessary. It's not hard. This should be a place where people want to read and contribute -- a place for spirited exchanges of opinion. So those who persist with racist, defamatory or abusive postings risk losing the privilege to post at all.Posted by AndyMosity (anonymous) on July 25, 2008 at 10:02 a.m. (Suggest removal)
Full disclosure: The New York Times, a newspaper that has endorsed McCain for President, asked Mr. McCain to revise his article for print...and up until this point has not done so.
Also, the paper has printed no less than 7 Op-ed pieces by McCain since 1996.

i love how every conservative has to bring up communism when talking about censorship, but are terrified of their own genitalia.

It amazes me that we have the right to an opinion in this country, yet some feel that they have to be vulgar or offensive. Let Conservatives be conservative and liberals be liberal. Let each person have their opinion without having a negative comment about it. :-)

Did you think a news outlet is unbiased? The NYT is a business, they are free to print what they want. I prefer the Drudge Report.

"Apparently these people are pro-fascist and anti-individual liberties but are just keenly disguising themselves"
Oh, you mean like my right to bear arms? Or possibly you're talking about the right to smoke, if I choose? Just which rights are you talking about? It wouldn't be the ones that happen to parallel YOUR value system, would it?

Oh, I HAVE thought about it. And by the way, I don't carry a loaded gun in my "truck", nor drink cheap canadian whiskey, OR smoke Marb Reds. My point is I'm tired of listening to this current crop of leftists, who point to the other side as "fascist", while I believe they're the most fascist group to come along in some time. You name it, "fairness doctrine", PC BS, blah, blah, blah. I don't like the idea of anyone monitoring my conversations, and yes, do believe there must be oversight. At the same time, I believe we're up against determined foes and must be vigilant. Unlike you, who I'm sure believes it's all a scare tactic to retain "power". And if you want to resort to taunts like "white trash", go ahead. Do you really think GIVE a flying **** what people like you think anymore? DO YOU? lol.....
