Dunn Bros. Coffee rumors unfounded

Published Wednesday, August 6, 2008

A rumor that Dunn Bros. Coffee will open in Tamarack Square in the next year is unfounded, says the property’s leasing agent.

“There is no such thing happening,” said John Olson of Century 21 Vista.

A number of businesses have looked at the mini-mall in the past several months, he said, including the owners of a Dunn Bros. franchise.

“I’m sure they’re looking at several communities,” he said. To his knowledge, Fergus Falls is not on the top of their list.

Tamarack Square, located behind Kum and Go off of Exit 54 west of Fergus Falls, has four or five possible tenants, Olson said. The only definite tenant is AT&T, which is expected to move from its present location at 1105 West Lincoln Ave. next to Papa Murphy’s in the next couple of months.

Construction on the Tamarack Square building was completed in December.

Harold Stanislawski of the Fergus Falls Economic Improvement Commission has said it is not unusual for buildings to sit unoccupied while developers recruit businesses.

does anyone know what is going in the big building that is being constructed across from K-Mart by that other strip mall with bridal store?

tsy86h,

From what I understand it's Carquest who is currently located behind Fleet Farm and a welding supply company.

As for the Dunn Bros. not coming, not a coffee drinker myself, but more businesses coming into Fergus is not necessarily a bad thing. Now when is Kohl's coming? That's what we really need.

What F.Falls really needs is a supermarket with reasonable prices and more than two checkers on duty at one time. At present, you can pay $4 for a box of cereal at the "big" store or drive half a mile and by it at Wal Mart for a dollar or more less. Or buy a can of sardines for almost TWO dollars less at Wal Mart.

newshound, with comments like yours, you wonder why businesses close or refuse to come to town. You should be thankful to know we have locally owned and operated businesses which do support our own community. If that is too hard for you to sink your teeth into, consider the amount of gas you waste driving out to Wal Mart for your cereal and sardines.

I actually agree with YepUbetchya (although I hate to admit it). Support your locally owned businesses, folks, or watch them disappear.

Newshound, have you verified the cheaper product is actually the same weight of product packaged in the same size box? Your "dollar or more less" might not be a big of a bargain as you think on a per ounce basis. Check out the label.

Where did the Journal hear about this? Oh, that's right....

What did we need another stripmall for anyway? We can't fill up the spaces we already have available (Westridge Mall). If they'd get their act together (whoever the owner's are) things could be different around here.
