Cooper declares council candidacy
Published Friday, August 8, 2008
Jamie Cooper
By his own admission, Jamie Cooper isn’t your typical candidate for city council.
A Fergus Falls native, Cooper doesn’t own a suit, has worked several minimum-wage jobs and knows what it’s like to be poor — all the more reason to vote for him, he says.
“I know how to stretch money — I’ve been forced to,” he said. “I think I’d be more in touch with the average voter.”
Cooper, 38, is a 1988 Fergus Falls High School graduate and longtime musician who does freelance video, computer repair and data recovery work out of the Fergus Falls home he’s owned for 15 years. He’s always had something to say on city policies, he said, and after conversations with neighbors and friends, he’s decided to run for the first ward council seat currently held by Ron Burt.
“You sure seem to have a lot of opinions and stuff,” Cooper says he’s been told. “Why don’t you run for office?”
So he is. Cooper already has a list of policy changes he’d like to enact, among them, the return of a citywide spring cleaning week and the allowance of one junk vehicle on homeowners’ properties (often owners are in the process of rehabilitating these vehicles, he said).
Cooper has been particularly vocal on the future of the Regional Treatment Center, speaking at a city council meeting Monday in favor of a proposed film project. He says he supports the prospect of an international business college at the site, but doesn’t think the city should be controlled by “some guy who’s throwing money from some genocide, slaving-owning country.” Cooper claims slavery is still legal in China, home to some of the worst cases of genocide in history, he said.
When it comes to other Fergus Falls projects, Cooper says the needs of low-income residents are rarely met as well as their more wealthy counterparts. For example, Cooper favors a new water tower or reduced water rates for residents in the Hilltop neighborhood, where water pressure has been low for decades.
“If they’re going to pay the same rate (as other residents), they should get the same water,” he said.
Cooper says the council’s decision to fund a $400,000 permanent Pebble Lake pumping project benefits only a handful of wealthy homeowners, when a solution to the Hilltop water issue could have helped many less-wealthy people.
“I just don’t feel the majority of Fergus Falls is being served at all,” he said.
Cooper lives with his son, Aric, 14, one of his four children.

The Daily Journal is happy to host community conversations about news and life in Fergus Falls and the surrounding area. As hosts, we expect guests will show respect for each other. That means we don't threaten or defame each other, and we keep conversations free of personal attacks. Witty is great. Abusive is not. If you think a post violates these standards, don't escalate the situation. Instead, flag the comment to alert us. We'll take action if necessary. It's not hard. This should be a place where people want to read and contribute -- a place for spirited exchanges of opinion. So those who persist with racist, defamatory or abusive postings risk losing the privilege to post at all.Posted by metasonics (anonymous) on August 8, 2008 at 12:43 p.m. (Suggest removal)
China is currently a communist nation, in which speaking against the state places citizens in work camps of which they are never allowed to leave.
currently the Chinese Government is waging war against the people of Tibet.
Chairman Mao who gave the world, 72 million deaths, is from the Hunan Region of China, the same region, the investors for the RTC college are from.
I want to know more about where this money is coming from before I would feel comfortable supporting it.
I am not apposed to the pumping of pebble lake as much as I feel All residents deserve what they are paying for!

I know you mean well Coop, but you know how this town operates. Not saying somebody shouldnt try and change things, but we would need more like yourself to get in, in order for anything to change. The whole city council needs a "takeover" in my opinion. I wish you well and good luck. I look forward to hearing more of your ideas.

well this is the year to do just that!
there is a seat open in all 4 city wards as well as the Mayor open.
So, far Support for my intentions has been overwhelmingly positive.
I am not trying to stage a takeover, I am just trying to get the majority of us properly represented, with more equality and opportunity for everyone.

What are your feelings on other city issues--such at the expansion of the public library?

What are your views on wearing thongs at local beaches? lol... Just kidding!
While I didn't vote for your video that I did listen to online... I would definitely be interested in voting for you as a council member.
Good luck!

thanks for asking, Josephine,
I fully support the expansion and feel the city should back the proposal that would allow our library to get half a million from the state to fund it.

"doesn’t think the city should be controlled by “some guy who’s throwing money from some genocide, slaving-owning country.”
I don't think the city is being controlled by anybody. Maybe they don't think this movie is preserving the reputation of the RTC. Maybe they don't think this movie is worth moving forward with compared to redevelopment of the rtc into a university.
I think the group was meeting with universities in China and it has been well documented that there will be a group of colleges and univeristies involved in the redevelopment of the RTC.
Not exactly the correct way of starting your campaign blaming a entire race of hard working citizens for something Chairman Mao did over 30 years ago. He did die in 1976 and China has been opening up their society ever since.
This is the wrong message to be sending to anybody who might be willing to invest in our community. Your small minded thinking only shows your ignorance and I would not be surprised that letters like yours causes the foreign universities to rethink whether this is the right town to send their students.
This also sends the wrong message to the area colleges that are willing to expand there curriculum in our community and send professors to this campus.
Once again if you listened to the interviews and read the articles the group is forming partnerships not selling out the campus.

I suppose you'll need a campaign jingle...
Posted by metasonics (anonymous) on August 8, 2008 at 7:19 p.m. (Suggest removal)
First of all, Olson, some of this has been taken out of context and "paraphrased", I don't believe our city is controlled by foreign interests, I think the subject this was taken from is when I stated , the opinions of local people should always be considered first over the concerns of people in foreign lands.
this is not about race.
Chairman Mao is dead, however there are posters plastered all over china of him yet, to remind the people not to step out of line.
once again I just have to question where these millions of dollars are coming from when we are involving a communist country who is currently killing people in Tibet, and has widespread work camps that are exactly like slavery.
I would hate for our community to be viewed like Kathy Lee Gifford, or any of the other people who later found out their financial partners from China were involved with child sweatshops, sex trades, or any of the countless nightmarish conditions many are forced into in China.
if you are truly concerned about what neighboring communities may think of us, then I suggest you stop trying to make this into some racial issue.
for the record, you should know, I have blood relations that are of Asian decent.
Honestly I am concerned because I value the rights and lives of the Chinese people who are dying at the hands of their own leaders!, I am not condemning any race!
as for preserving the reputation of the RTC?
Who do you think you are fooling?
the reputation and easily provable history of the RTC is far worse than any fantasy movie.
I say we take the movie money and open a college, as long as we are sure the money is not soaked in blood, and we remain in authority over the RTC.
our people must come first and remain sovereign.
thank you!

I must admit some of You are masters of propaganda.
constantly referring to the former state hospital as a "campus".
It is in no way a "campus", it has been most recently a drug rehab, and before that, the scene of many horrific things, as well as housing a graveyard.
Are you familiar with the definition of the word "campus"?
I am awed by your skills of deception and attempts to brainwash the community with your carefully concocted words.
If it is not going to be sold to the Chinese then please explain why council member Wilson referred to a date in which the Chinese could take possession during last Mondays meeting.

love the dictionary recital here. glad to know we can read and type. you would all make great secretaries. But, I think Cooper is running for a different position. Can I take Josephine's comment a bit farther. This expansion project would/could go a bit better if the City had any desire to prosecute those above the poverty level. IF I recall correctly, there was a certain investment broker and his friend a certain attorney (who decided taxes were unconstitutional and refuses to pay them) stole a lot of the library's money and didn't pay it back or get charged with a crime. Go figure. And we are afraid of what the Chinese are going to do? I think we should be afraid of our neighbors. (before I get deleted/censored, all this can be found at the courthouse).

I like how so many people are worried about the integrity of the RTC, when if it was cheap enough that place would have been torn down already. Even if the movie doesnt take place, that does not guarantee the Chinese will come to town. I do not understand how people can be opposed to the movie idea.

In the RTC executive summary put together by the state of MN. It reads
The focus of this report is to determine the feasibility for reuse of all or part of the Fergus Falls Regional Treatment Center (FFRTC). The FFRTC is located on State Highway 297 north of Fir Street in Fergus Falls, Otter Tail County, Minnesota.
The “Kirkbride” Building is the visual center of the"campus", consisting of the administration building flanked by the connected four-story wings. The “Kirkbride,” built between 1888 and 1907, was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in June 1986, and the other major supporting, early 20th Century buildings are probably also eligible for the National Register.
Much of the Kirkbride and many of the remaining "campus" buildings are either underutilized or vacant.
This study was requested by the Minnesota Department of Human Services to determine how best to address the continuing, yet much smaller, programmatic health service needs of the region, either on or off the present campus.
I guess the state of MN has always considered it a campus. Once again all you have to do is read the information that is already available.
As stated before it is well known the development group has said publicly that they are working wlth Universities both in China and our region. Chinese Universities and local investors is where the money comes from. This is well known and has been for many months and that certainly does not sound like blood soaks, sweat shop money to me. It sounds like the education revolution that is happening all over the world. As you may have heard. The world is truly flat and all countries are competing on a level playing field.
What Wilson said or how he phrased a statement or question does not change the facts. It would seem to me that Mr. Wilson knows more about the status of the project then he lets on. With him running for county commissioner he is playing both sides of the fence not wishing to appear to be on one side or another. It takes leadership to look at a short term project or a long term project that could be a large economic engine for our region. I guess his decision will be one that will define how he will manage the counties business which is far more complex and a much larger budget.

here is another definition:
A sockpuppet is an online identity used for purposes of deception within an Internet community. In its earliest usage, a sockpuppet was a false identity through which a member of an Internet community speaks while pretending not to, like a puppeteer manipulating a hand puppet.[1]
In current usage, the perception of the term has been extended beyond second identities of people who already post in a forum to include other uses of misleading online identities. For example, a NY Times article claims that "sock-puppeting" is defined as "the act of creating a fake online identity to praise, defend or create the illusion of support for one’s self, allies or company.

ok, I stand corrected, Campus may be used in reference to hospitals.
I do find it ironic that the term is usually used in reference to schools, and I don't recall people calling the RTC a "campus" until the Campus Development Group.

once again I am awed by the propaganda machines.
does terminology make you feel better about making money from slavery, and children in sex trades?
I think this matter should be voted on via referendum to let the residents of the city decide.
is it now immoral, to admit I am not perfect and may have copied a definition less perfect than you?
there is also a great difference between knowingly omitting facts and finding other sources for information!
no one is perfect, and I certainly am not claiming to be.
I'm poor, My hair is falling out, I wear glasses, I may copy and paste less than you, but I admit to my mistake, and that should mean something to you also.
whether or not You want to call the RTC a "campus" or its actual name which is the "Regional Treatment Center", it doesn't change the facts.
I still believe Your choice to use the word "campus" other than "state hospital" or the shorter "RTC" is to suggest it is already a "campus" or "school" of sorts to the average person.
I don't think most people think of the RTC as a "campus", however, as I previously wrote, I do stand corrected.

I think we need a change around here in the city of fergus falls. This city is dying, and has been for some time because of the way it has been run. Im behind you coop, 100%. The thought of change frightens many of the rich folk who live here and the others who have their current seats are scared pissless they will not only lose them but lose a grip on this city.
It is nothing more than a machine. For those of you who know my meaning. Hopefully coop, you can throw a monkey wrench into it and make some change...

I've always done my best to help others, but I don't know what I can do to help a homeless woman in Fergus right now?
I am of very low income and cannot afford to do much for this lady.
She has been living near the Sun mart Holiday station for around a month.
she claims to be waiting for a social security check.
It is apparent that she suffers from mental health issues as well.
the police have been in contact with her and the local newspaper verified that the police have received numerous reports on her.
does anyone have any ideas to help her?

We have to quit selling this country to foreign countries. I always thought the hospital could be the worlds best haunted castle. I think the place has alot of amusement park potential. Why are we not pushing it to industries, to create more jobs to fit the people that are here. That don't have the high tech skills. Acording 06 census stats about 80% of Otter Tail co. workforce fits those type of jobs. Is a college really going to benifit the community more than creating jobs for people already here?

well of course I have a criminal record.
I was born and raised in Fergus falls in poverty.
I'll fill you in already.
I have a "receiving stolen goods" charge and a negligent storage of a handgun charge.
these are not big secrets or revelations.
I gave a guy a ride that happened to have stolen items in his possession, so that's the receiving stolen property and the other charge I actually have on video tape.
I purchased a handgun shortly after a drug dealer stuck one in my face while I was attempting to break up his drug deal in front of my store.
I showed the police where it was stored in my business and a few weeks later I guess they felt it was no longer a safe location for it to be stored.
the handgun was stored under my cash register with the clip in a pocket on the side of the holster.
on the video, the police can be seen leaving with the gun only to return later with it loaded and mock-up a scene.
then they took pictures as evidence.
unfortunately as my court appointed attorney pointed out, "there are people on death row with dna evidence proving their innocence, what makes you think a video tape is gonna matter", ultimately led me into a plea bargain, so I could continue the hospital treatments I needed for "sarcoidosis", which was life threatening for me at the time.
there is one other incident you won't find record of which happened around January.
I gave a concerned mother a ride to turn in evidence of her daughter age 15 involved in a sex act with an adult she was dating age 19.
this evidence was a photo on the boyfriends cell phone.
I was charged with theft for giving the mother a ride.
I spent 4 hours in jail and all charges were dropped.
so there you have it.
Jamie Cooper has a criminal record.
what do these "Crimes" say about my integrity?
do you feel I would understand and see through the BS, or do you think I know that our people are being treated unfairly and will defend your rights?
thank you
Jamie Cooper

there's more, I have been through divorce, have had family members die in alcohol related accidents, I am in the unique position to have both paid out child support payments for most of my adult life as well as receive child support for the past decade.
I am in a unique position to understand both sides of many issues.
I have both be locked up for bogus charges and have had my own home broken into and robbed only to have police tell me there was nothing they could do to help.
through all the adversity I have been through, never once did I break my promises.
I promised to keep drugs out of my arcade downtown when I opened it, and I did that.
until I realized, even the police would not help.
I couldn't just kick people out without evidence.
eventually it became obvious that there was nothing more I could do to keep the drug dealers away so, I closed the doors for good.
I had 24 hour video surveillance inside the business, so the drug dealings took place a few doors down in front of the residence of a known drug dealer.
the police were well aware of all these conditions.
I'm sure any rational person can see how this would make it nearly impossible to keep the drugs at bay.
I was criticized for allowing kids to smoke out front of my business, when the reality is they were smoking out front of their home.
I was powerless to kick them off their own property.
I attempted to share information about drug activities as well as who was buying alcohol for minors and furnishing locations for children to get drunk, with our police as much as possible.
eventually the police told me to stop calling them, and told me to handle situations myself.
it was shortly after that I had a gun stuck in my face while trying to handle these situations myself.
so I got a handgun permit and purchased a gun.
the rest I've already explained.
in the end, I kept my word, at great expense to myself, but I did help people find sobriety, and I suppose in that I find some satisfaction.
since announcing my candidacy, I have noticed an increase in police traffic around my home and while walking with my son and dog today, we were nearly constantly being followed by police. I counted 5 different cars.
as I write this, I am looking at a police car driving by for the 4th time today on my dead end street which is all of two blocks long.
If something should happen to me, I hope some of you out there will save this story and remember it.
I am doing this for the right reasons!
there are people in positions of power who do not want my story to get out!
If you chose to vote for me, I promise you, you will not regret it and I will never give you need to question my integrity.
no matter what they do to me, I will continue to tell the truth, and defend your rights!
thank you!

Where do you stand on the proposed water park/city pool? What about economic development (obviously we know where you stand on the RTC)?
Posted by metasonics (anonymous) on August 9, 2008 at 8:02 p.m. (Suggest removal)
mn10klakes, I respect your opinion, and I guess I need to accept your criticism as well, I wasn't trying to misinform anyone.
I listed the source obviously for honest reasons.
either way.
I didn't hear people refer to the RTC as a campus until the CDG started doing so.
most people I have talked to, when they hear the word "campus" think we are referring to the community college grounds.
so as I previously stated, I apologize for any confusion and I admit, I misunderstood the definition.
I know I'm not alone in that.
what is the value of language if it is not to be easily understood?
I guess the point I'm trying to make here is, lets just talk plainly here about these issues.
enough with using words that are technically grammatically correct, but in reality suggest something other than what that word was inteneded to mean.
it's just a slicker form of lying!
do you really think the CDG want people to think "state hospital grounds" when they use the word 'campus"?
I have no devious plot here!
What would I have to gain?, other than the ability to help others and a low wage for it.
I want to get the spring clean up week returned to you.
I want to fix it so you can fix on your own vehicle on your property if you so chose without being criminalized for it.
I want to dig in and find out why we were promised a break on our trash bills for recycling, but instead got an extra monthly charge.
I want to expand our Library.
I want all our households to have adequate water supplies,
I want You to have more of what you are already paying for.
I want all our residents to be treated equally and with the respect they deserve regardless of their financial standings.
I did not fabricate the conditions that exist in China, nor fabricate that our city council is more concerned about what the Chinese may think about a movie being filmed here than how our own people feel.
last I checked the Chinese shouldn't have a vote in our city government.
WE should be allowed to do whatever we want with our city.
regardless of what foreign interests might think.
We should jump on board with the movie offer and expect at least an offer from these "campus" investors if we are to consider them.
I also would like to see some of the larger issues put to a city referendum, which would allow for our residents to vote, and give you and even greater control over your city!
do i just have it all wrong?

Jamie, students are not able to vote. They are not permanent residents PLUS they wouldn't be United States citizens either. Also, can you answer my question above your previous post?
Posted by metasonics (anonymous) on August 9, 2008 at 8:38 p.m. (Suggest removal)
good questions Chief!
as far as the water park, I think some expensive studies were done which suggested it would not be profitable, but I have not held an office yet and don't have access to all the information about it.
So in my opinion, without having the advantage of being paid to sit and listen for years to the proposal, off the top of my head, I would say.
perhaps a water park could be profitable if it were at least shared with a hotel such as the bigwood event center.
I would prefer it was entirely privately owned, as I have doubts as to how profitable it would stay given the close proximity of similar locations in Fargo and Ottertail.
I am certainly not apposed to such an idea and definantly would enjoy visiting a local waterpark, I just have questions as to if it would be do-able at this time.
If it were left for me to decide and our budget could allow, I would put this to a referendum to allow the residents to vote and decide themselves.
(continued in next post)

as for economic development.
I certainly support it.
I don't currently have any offers in my back pocket to give.
I would need to get a look at our expenditures and income first to see whats available.
I think taking advantage of any opportunity we have, that does not jeopardize our cities integrity should be explored.
I know encountered many of the same difficulties local business needs to overcome while opening and operating my own in this city for over a year.
I think one of the problems we face as a community is how we treat people when they visit.
last night while a friend from Duluth and I were walking my dog in the my front yard, police stopped and questioned us as to what we were up to and how long we had been here and what our plans were.
he also made comments about my friends weight, calling him "full figured".
Last time this friend came to visit was for my mothers funeral and within minutes of coming off the interstate he was pulled over and checked to make sure all his papers were in order, as well as questioned as to the nature of his visit to Fergus and who he would be visiting.
it is things like this that make people avoid our city.
We don't generate a feeling of welcome, We need to work on that.
other than that?, I don't know yet.
most of opportunity is just being willing to embrace it as it comes along.
I am sure people will make the council aware of more opportunities as the arise.
We could start an ad campaign to invite people to open up shops and bussiness in Fergus falls.
even a billboard on the interstate could help.
We could take a look at communities of similar size and economics, to see what has worked there, and explore ways to implement similar concepts here.
I guess the best thing to do would be to decide what we want and then look at those who have achieved what we hope to do, and explore if we could too.
if We are looking at doing something completely new in concept, then perhaps a referendum vote by the residents would be the best route to decide.
once again, Very good questions!
Thank You
Jamie Cooper

in the past there were questions as to if we should open a skateboard park.
in the end , our community organized and amassed enough funds to open one.
I am not suggesting this would be the only way for a water park to happen here, but, I think it would perhaps be a great way to get the ball rolling in that direction and show how much our community does support the idea.

The term "state hospital" is a pejorative. Some terms develop negative connotations over time, thus "campus" becomes the more acceptable term to use. Think about dumb - mute; "n word" - African American.

on a bit of a different note, I do feel we should continue to support the local senior center, which I myself helped my Grandmother "Gladys Kuryatnik" organize and work fundraisers for back in the late 80's,
but, I also feel We owe our community a center for the youth as well.
one of the greatest worries I had when I closed my Arcade was, "where will these kids go now"?
and as I have stayed in contact with many of them I found out.
Many of them moved on to drug addiction and alcoholism.
I question as to how different their lives may have been if there had been a location open to them like my arcade was.
there is the local Alano Club, and it is always open to people looking to get sober, but they are limited as to what they can offer this age group too.
if a city the size of battle lake can do it, we should be able to also.

mn10klakes,
I can't say I disagree with you but at the same time I feel the term "state hospital" is perfectly descriptive of a state run hospital.
the other things you mentioned are essentially slurs against entire groups of humans.
the realities of what transpired in that location probably should be looked at with negative connotations.
I have read first hand accounts of abuses most of us could not imagine, when I worked with developmentally disabled adults in our community.
these abuses were not acceptable forms of treatment even in ancient times.
many guilty parties were let go because the word of a developmentally disabled person is not considered to be credible.
I have seen the lasting affects it had on the victims firsthand.
many of these victims and there abusers are still alive.
I am sure these incidents weigh heavily on some in this community.
I can certainly see why the usage of the word "state Hospital" might not roll of the tongue so easily.
A raher clever way for people to sanitize the subject.
I don't think these abuses are even possible for many to forget, nor do I think we should forget them either.

the end to my career of working with Departmentally disabled adults came, because I assisted a social worker to view the conditions in the location I was working at.
I knew it would cost me my job, but I also knew it would get those people the care they needed.
that Social workers name is Shelly Bartels.
what I didn't know is it would make it very difficult to find employment afterword.
either way I know I did what was right.

Well Coop, that's life. Black Americans were enslaved for centuries, so let's keep the old derogatory terms so that we don't forgot how horrible it was. By the way, I am beginning to think you are delusional. The only reason you are running for office is because you want this damn movie to pull through. You’re involved in the entertainment business (albeit on a very small scale). I think you think you will have something to gain from the Kaufman film. You said it yourself – you grew up poor and you still are poor. Do you have dreams to lift yourself out of your environment and go all Hollywood?
Posted by metasonics (anonymous) on August 9, 2008 at 9:53 p.m. (Suggest removal)
sheesh!
first of all the plight of what happened to people who were enslaved should not be forgotten.
I think locations that were involved are still called "plantations".
I'm not in favor of slurring the victims of anything.
I think it's also important that we remember the Jewish Holocaust, and what government out of control can do!
I am running because it was suggested to me to do so by people in this city.
I do have many friendships in the entertainment industry with music, art, radio, film, and television. I would consider working with Dav Kaufman on his project.
the entire community would gain from the movie being shot here.
when I met with him, he seemed a reasonable person.
I would like to see more of our community rise above the national poverty line, myself included.
if I could perform a job they offered, I wouldn't turn down the work, that's for sure!
I am not connected to the movie project in any way, save for the fact I support letting it come here.
I have no personal financial stakes in it.

Jamie. One last question. Let's say that the University was a for-sure deal and the movie was a for-sure deal. The City Council put a vote together on which one to allow. It was one or the other. What one would you vote for and why?

You said. "I gave a guy a ride that happened to have stolen items in his possession, so that's the receiving stolen property"
WRONG!!!
They were found in your home. And you knew they were stolen.
The "propaganda machine" just caught one of your lies.
And that's just one.......

it's hard to say given that this is all speculation and the final details are also pretend So I will give you what details I would need instead to support the college rumor over the movie proposal.
If there was a concrete offer with a letter of intent from a creditable American source involved with investing in this college, who was also saying they would pull out if a movie were shot there, I would agree with the CDG people and call it a "no brainer".
as under these conditions, our people would benefit the greatest.
control would remain in the hands of our people, however I would be sure to inquire specifically to the investors as to if there was anyway this movie deal could still go through.
There are educational opportunities attached to the movie deal as well.
Movies are important to our culture and this one would be great for our community.
the fact that the movie deal is solid and American, while the college deal is essentially a rumor involving Communist China, are My primary reasons for favoring the movie offer.
the fact that there has been no offers, no letters of intent, nothing more than socializing with these "investors" and locals imagining what they may or may not think of a locally made movie, make me say, shoot the movie already!
if there are investors interested in the college prospect, they need to get out of this nearly two year stagnancy and accomplish something!
our community needs to keep moving.
ultimately I don't see any reason why, We cannot accomplish both.
If investors are interested, while knowing the RTC's factual past, I don't see how they would be offended by fictional depictions of a different location filmed at the RTC.
it's hard to simplify these issues down to what you are asking.
but if all the criteria were met in both offers and all it came down to in the end was money for our community without worry about moral issues surrounding possible funding sources, which I think that is what some of you think, I suppose whoever is paying the most.
unfortunately, we are not in that situtation.
I hope I answered your question?
I would be glad to answer others as well!

well Mr."captn_chaos" please enlighten us with some facts surrounding your claims.
I was charged with receiving stolen property for allowing a person to enter my vehicle with what they claimed I should have known was stolen property in his possession.
it is quite the play on words you are using.
the individual who had stolen items, also rented out a room in my basement at the time.
after giving me a search warrant for my home as well as my tenants room, police did recover many items from his room, that I was told by the officers were stolen items.
whatever my renter was involved in, was not my doing!
I did not have stolen items in my possession.
I did have a lawyer who refused to plead innocent though.
She set me up with what is called an "Alfred plea".
she explained that this was not an admission of guilt, as I told her I would not lie.
she explained to me that this would prevent me from going to prison as I surely would otherwise, it basically said I was saying I don't feel I had enough resources to argue against the police claims.
looking back now, I feel I was the victim of poverty, and pretend legal representation.
I doubt any of the prosecution even considered the moral implications of sending a person to jail who professed to be innocent simply for giving a ride to a renter who called asking for a ride due the the weather.

We have a opportunity to have a university that works with our community college. They are looking at 1000+ students which equates to 20 million a year annual budget which is also where the money comes from to remodel the campus.
A movie that features the dorms and college campus creates a negative image. Having a child go off to college to a town that you are not familiar with has every parent doing some research on that community. It does not make any difference where you are from. Parents from Fergus Falls will google the very towns where their kids go to school and read every thing that is written about the campus. This is why they don't want a movie done on the campus. This is why these conversations about a stupid movie should cease.
The city council, those spineless bastards had all the information from CDG.
Mark Sievert, the city administrator did not provide the synopsis to the city council to make a informed decision. He had the information and did not share it.
Why doesn't the city release the synopsis about the movie. It features a arm crawling across the floor by itself. Then a decomposing girl asking "can you help me find my arm"
This image taken from the campus dorm is why the CDG group doesn't want a movie made there.
It creates a negative image about the dorms and campus.
Mark S. is the guy who let the city make a decision without the proper information even though he had it. The Daily Journal has the synopsis and so does the radio station. Nobody wants to talk about the content of the movie.
So the general public goes by hearsay and gets negative about the college. This has nothing to do with CDG other then they don't want to have a negative image created about the campus which could prevent some students from attending. If they didn't have a project they wouldn't care. They have a project so they will need students to pay the remodeling costs.
I think we should ask our city manager why he did not provide the information to the city council. I question whether Mark Sievert is even for this project with all of his negative comments in the press. It has been said that after seven years it is time to go.
Mark, your time is done and it is time to go. You have not provide one positive thing to economic development in fact to most you are a economic inhibitor. Why can't Fergus Falls grow? Because we have micro managers like Mark Sievert putting his thumb on everybody with a conscious thought.

part 2,, exceeded the limit
When they see these blogs and articles that discuss a movie they will find that movie and view it. The discussion about sweat shops, blood money, terrible times under Mao who died 32 years ago. This is just nonsense because China and other countries are in a education revolution and are sending students all around the world. England and Australia are some of the top countries to go to. I have never heard of one negative about having Chinese students going to those countries.
Minnesota has more Chinese students then any state in the USA. Why would Fergus Falls be up in arms because as a state we have a strong relationship with China. We have had the largest delegations to China out of all the states in the USA. Fergus Falls has had a relationship for almost 100 years with China
Pelican Rapids has at least 6 languages spoken on their soccer team. We don't get up in arms over their relationship with immigrants.
Where does the money come from for a college. Dah! I think I have read at least 6 times in the newspaper and blogs alone that the colleges are investing.
EDUCATION IS FUNDING THIS PROJECT!
If you are all so ignorant to understand this and if you think this drug induced, brain dead dumb As* can make any decisions that are meaningful for our community then we have all slipped into a coma. I grew up in this community and after working in education realize what a big business this is. I would love to work at this new college and have had numerous conversions with the group. They are sincere and taking one step at a time being very careful to not raise speculation. They also say they don't want to convey anything that could be misinterpreted by the potential education partners from both the USA and China.
So now that I understand where they are coming from I understand why they aren't interested in a movie on this location. It has been suggested that Don Westra's house would be a wonderful location for a horror movie.
Of course it may hurt his resale value.

ottergrad,
you have raised some very interesting questions.
where did you hear that all these people have the synopsis about the movie.
I was at the meeting with the filmakers and heard a different synopsis.
I agree that the general public has not been properly informed about this college project.
I have been led to believe by comments made from current council members that the Chinese were interested in buying the RTC.
people here are telling me a different story.
What is the truth?
is there an actual offer on the table?
Who are the parties involved?
these are simple questions.
I want to know the answers to these same questions.
I do not appose students coming from foreign countries here.
I think anything that brings new people to this community is great!
I think it would be great for Chinese students to spend time in our society.
as I've said before and I'll reiterate now, is this all just a matter of lack of information?
what is the purpose in having meetings if it is not to get the information out and make informed decisions.
If I understand your meaning you are saying the funds to remodel are to come from enrollment?
So are you suggesting a loan would be repaid via tuition?
So what is holding all this back?
and Who is to Own the premises?
when would these tuition's be paid?, obviously someone would have to be offering either a loan or a grant to remodel before anyone would be willing to pay a tuition.
if this is the case then what is holding back the lenders?, and who are the lenders?

I understand someone may have hinted at giving you a job at a rumored university.
I'm not your enemy, I want this same information to be readily available too.
The idea of having an international university here in our city is very appealing and obviously, as long as our domestic interests were protected, would be great.
so If everything other than the angry name calling you said is accurate, who are these investors you referred to as "education"?
please try to keep a cool head about this all and I bet we can find a way to work together on these issues.
I'm not a racist or a drug user, and I'm sure you have good motivations in your heart.

And while we’re at it, I would sure hope that the person that I would vote for would not play the victim card. While you may have had a part in some unearthing of violations of people with developmental disabilities rights, I doubt that it has held you back from getting a job for this long. Shelly Bartels has not been working with vulnerable adults in about 8 ½ years. I am sure you could have since found a job somewhere since then. Name dropping impresses no one. I can come up with social workers names, too, as can most people. There are also plenty of people that have grown up in severe poverty in many towns, including Fergus Falls that have managed to not have a criminal record. What a degrading thing to say to all of those people who have managed to keep their noses clean, despite of their situation. Also, while I agree that this isn’t the friendliest town, I know a number of your friends. I would imagine that the police in Fergus Falls do, too. No matter how law abiding they are now, reputations are hard to change. I also know many of the kids that used to hang out at your arcade, and from the stories that they told me, it is an ok thing that your arcade got closed down. While your intentions were good, you lacked the knowledge on how to appropriately handle young people that are likely to engage in risky behavior. So instead of proclaiming that the universe is out to get you it is time that you own up to your past and show that you have moved on. We all make mistakes along the way, it is how you handle those mistakes that proves to the rest of the world your integrity and character.

oh_its_you,
I worked with developmentally disabled adults in the late 80's and into the early 90's, obviously I have had many Jobs since then.
How do you think I saved up enough money to open a business?
what are you talking about?
I have lived in Fergus falls for the greater part of 38 years, and have obviously been friends with many of the same people as you, what is your point?
if its guilt by association, you better take a look in the mirror.
I am sure there are plenty of people who have lived in poverty that have managed to never get a police record, and if only I had the drug dealer information the police kept telling me I had when it all started, I bet I wouldn't have a criminal record either, as was suggested by the police.
it's too bad rumor mills like yours sometimes have real consequences for innocent parties.
I don't think the universe is out to get me, just those who appose the truth and have self serving agendas.
take a look at what I stand for.
If I am so off base on children, tell me why my son is a 3x honor roll student.
please enlighten me to your great achievements.
explain to me how best to deal with a gun in your face that the police don't care about, because you were trying to get a drug dealer off your property.
better yet explain to me why, our police harassed me, for giving them information regarding massive drug deals kids told me about.
explain to me why a child falling an breaking his head wide open while drunk behind java 101 is just some freak accident but a black man swinging a bat around in the street in front of the bank a block away in connection to a drug deal gone awry in the river inn, is automatically connected to my drug free, tobacco free, alcohol free business with 24 hour video surveillance, which easily proved none of the partied had been at my business.
I'll tell you why, because I called the police!
essentially I think they just got tired of doing their jobs.
that's why they told me to stop calling them.
for the record, my business was not shut down, I closed it of my own volition.
certainly being robbed and slandered played a big role in my financial demise.
But in this city, you do have to do something actually wrong I think before the police would actually go on video and tell you you're closed.
they did often tell people no-one was allowed to be outdoors on that street.

then again I'm not sure anything would surprise me concerning our police force anymore.
I am sure the majority are good people and I think even the ones I've seen break the law and violate peoples rights, had good intentions in there somewhere.
maybe the job just got to them or someone higher up was pulling strings?
I don't know?
either way I don't think it should be tolerated.
I do have real worries right now over what may happen to me for openly talking about these issues.
I worry somehow I'm committing a Crime I didn't even know esisted.
I'll be sure to carry my identification with me at all times, as I've seen what three police officers can do to a photographer for not providing that on demand.
that photographer quit working here and now works in St. Cloud.
I still feel bad for being too frightened to help him.
but really I don't know what I could have done anyway.
if only I had the camera they took from him.
ah, who am I kidding, I have a video right now of police setting me up and it didn't matter either.
I am serious when I ask that some of you out there document or save a copy of what has been written here.
In a time of universal deceit - telling the truth is a revolutionary act.
But life is short, and truth works far and lives long: let us speak the truth.
when deciding if you believe in me or not, please ask yourself these questions.
Have you ever seen me cause a person harm ?
remember at first they called me a racist, then a druggie and now that they have no evidence , they are saying I'm just a bad guy and a bum or something?

I believe the the current city government needs change. More representation from those who have shared an eye-opening experience or two in dealing with the corrupt/inept local police seems to be just what this town needs to make some changes made.

People in this town really ought to embrace you and support you to the nth degree, I mean you have so many trials and difficulties in your life, none of them are your responsibilty or brought on by your own actions nor attitude. oh_its_you,
the reason I provided the Social worker's name is because,
She still lives in Fergus falls and I imagine would verify my claims.
you have thrown some serious and accusing insults at me.
telling me I'm playing a card when I explain being the victim of injustices.
I have a question for you
why are you sympathetic towards Sexual predators?
You condemn me claiming I lack the knowledge of how to deal with kids that might engage in risky behavior, but feel we should be more accepting towards a convicted rapist of children moving to our community?
do you feel young girls who were drugged and raped by this predator are "playing the victim card" too?
although, I don't think the city council has a part in determining how we as a community treat convicted sexual predators, I will tell you my personal stance.
I am apposed to sexual predators ever being allowed to roam freely in any community.
I am not convinced that sexual predators can be reformed.
I believe that we should never grow tolerant to such acts.
there are lines that a person cannot uncross.
no matter what this rapist does, he will always remain a rapist.
His victims will always remain, having been raped.
the far reaching impact rapists have on our communities and especially on their victims never end.
If it were up to me, sexual predators would not be provided with drug rehab, social programs or any other publicly funded programs.
i don't feel sexual predators are worth investing in.
proven Sexual predators should never be allowed to rejoin peacful society.
the lower the cost of providing sexual predators with imprisonment, the better!
if they were to be stacked 10 high in a storage shed, I say so be it.
a close family member of mine was the victim of a sexual predator, although He is currently in prison, He will get out in a few years and be allowed to do whatever he chooses with his life.
My family member, one of the young people he lured with puppies into a location He then raped, is now dead, she didn't make it adulthood.
she became an alcoholic and engaged in drugs, until her inability to cope with what had been forced on her claimed her life.
to summarize, I feel providing local youth with places in which they can gather and be supervised, are good.
ignoring our own children and condoning sexual predators, are bad.
out of sight, out of mind, is often not the makings of activities we want our children involved in.

Norse doesn't like me because He was in a band with two musicians, who performed a few shows with me.
He felt threatened that they would no longer "play" with him.
So he began making personal attacks against me on the internet and around Fergus falls.
His attacks are mostly conjecture and constructed from loosely gathered information that I lived in Fargo for about a month as a child.
He resides in the neighborhood of my former arcade and may be involved with providing children with marijuana.
While my business was open, Federal marshals raided the building to arrest Him for internet fraud.
I was never out to deprive you of musical opportunities, "Norse".
you did that to yourself.
I do take offense with some of your lifestyle choices.
But, I'd rather stick to the issues at hand.
I am not trying to sell these people music, I am offering them my tenacity as a representative and advocate.
my music website is doing quite well with over 300 visits a day.
again, this is not a startling revelation to anyone.
I think it's been rather plainly stated that I have been involved in the entertainment industry.
my music did tackle many serious issues.
talking about serious issues is not the same as endorsing them.

Oh my, your fables grow taller everyday, perhaps one should look in the mirror when they point the 'slander' finger, and make baseless accusations of character and criminal activities. ROTFL at how far off base the delusional mind has taken some.
As for mommy being a witch, you are the only source I have ever known to cite that tidbit.

Oh kind sir please give a fabulous lesson in ip address's. Let's start with what ip stands for, then a short explanation of sub-net masking might relevant, then you might get into the realm of DNS if you dare.

Since when do I sympathize with sexual predators? From the comment that I believe you are basing that on, I merely said that he will be at the RTC, and hasn’t offended since he was released from prison, and that the girls that he raped were known to him. I agree, he has messed up lives. Having a daughter myself, there is no way I would want to befriend this man. However, since he is at the RTC, I merely pointed that out and that perhaps we shouldn’t be afraid of him, and use the information provided to keep ourselves informed but that there was not a reason to assume that this man was a danger to our way of living in our town as he was most likely going to be returning to his home when he finished his program. As for you not saying that a man’s race has anything to do with him swinging a bat, if it didn’t matter, why mention it? You better be prepared to face criticism and answer questions if you are running for public office…

have you ever heard of people leaving the treatment facility?
I have, in fact I've heard of this happening frequently. in later stages of the rehab process, clients are allowed to go on unsupervised walks in our community.
I think sexual predators should always be regarded as a potential threat.
has it occurred to you that some of the people in treatment and the employee's will become known to this rapist?
in case you haven't noticed, I have already answered more questions than probably any other person who is likely to run for local office this election.
not only that, I have given you direct answers.
so although I appreciate your coaching, I feel I'll just stick to the truth and I'll be fine.
I gave all the details I remember about the incident involving a "black man swinging a bat in the street", which I believe was the title of the article about it.
certainly His race would factor in for identification purposes.
I don't think race had anything other than that to do with the story, at least I hope not?
do you have any questions about where I stand on issues concerning our city or how I would vote on a issue?
feel free to ask, and I will do my best to answer your questions.
there was a question asked about the Veterans home and their right to vote being infringed upon.
I have not been able to access any information about this topic.
I asked if anyone has any ideas as to what could be done to help out a homeless lady who suffers from mental illness, locally.
did anyone read that post?

Salvation Army, United Way, OTC Human Services, Women's Crisis Center would all be appropriate places to start. If this individual has mental health issues and is "residing"-on a park bench, in Fergus Falls, she should be eligible for a case worker to assist her through Humans Services.

I have a question for you Mr Cooper - you are asking the residents of your Ward to enable you to do a job (City Council person).
As with any job (especially one that has so much responsibility associated with it), relevant experience matters.
What related experience do you have?
Have you served on a volunteer board?
Have you served as a citizen-member of a City committee?
Have you ever run a meeting according to Robert's Rules of Order (do you know what that means?).
I would not hire someone to paint my house if they had never painted before.
I would not hire someone to work on my car if did not have experience.
Why should the citizens of your Ward hire/elect you? What RELEVANT experience do you have??

Bucksteel have you ever been to a FF city council meeting? There's no experience necessary. Even a monkey can rubber stamp every proposal with a "NO". Unless of course a proposal is wasteful and benefits people over 65 and are upper middle class or higher.
I'm sure Bush doesn't know Robert's Rules or parliamentary procedure and he's president.

You keep mentioning that you live in poverty, are you asking for pity? It is possible to rise above that. I have lived in poverty, but I have worked hard to get out. This includes working at Burger King, Wal-mart, group homes, and putting my self through college. People complain about not having money, well work for it! You start out small and move up the line. I am sure that Burger King will not care if you reported a group home to Shelly Bartels.
If you choose not to work as much or choose to spend your time trying to get your music career or computer career going, fine I can respect that, but don't try to fall back on the "the police pick on me because I am poor line". When my family comes to visit me in Fergus Falls, the pull into town in one of two vehicles, either a early 90s rusted mini van with a dented front end from a collision with a deer (that's their good car), or a very rusted late 70's pickup. Never ever have they been pulled over in Fergus and interrogated as to why they are here, where they are going, and when they are leaving. Your, the police pick on me because I am a victim of poverty line, does not fly with me. The only time I have been bothered with the police is when I received a couple of speeding tickets, from a couple of crimes I committed in my youth, and when I have contacted them for assistance such as reporting a couple of crimes that I have witnessed. In all of these situations never once have I felt that I was being treated unfairly because I am poor. How do you plan to work for the citizens of this city, when you claim to be the enemy of those who protect it?
I am curious, will you get paid for this position if elected? Maybe you just see this as an easy gig to make some $$?

While I completely agree that the City Council needs some fresh ideas and some younger members, I am not sure that Jamie Cooper is the person for the job. I have been well-entertained by reading through this LONG and often redundant blog and I would like to point out (if it hasn't been hammered enough by Jamie himself) that Mr. Cooper seems to be anti-FFPD. It appears that he feels "framed" by, harrassed by and ignored by the cops at various intervals during his residency in Fergus Falls. He has illustrated with his words in this blog that his view and opinion of the local police officers is less than respectful. Knowing that the cops are employees of the City of Fergus Falls, and that the City Council votes on may police-related issues, maybe Jamie should tone down (at least publicly) his distaste for local law enforcement personnel. Just an idea....

Mr. Cooper states that he is a single father of 4 children. hmmmm Did he not give up his parental rights to his oldest 3 children????? which would make him a single father of 1 child? Mr. Cooper never had anything nice to say about his mother when she was a live. How often did you see your mother when she was a live??? Now for some reason he is outraged that someone called her a witch? Mr. Cooper called her a lot worse names than that! Now he is standing up for her? hmmm Mr. Cooper stated that he is disabled and for this reason he can not work. Well how in the h_ll could he hold a postion on the city counsel??? I also want to know when the last time you worked a FULL TIME (40 hrs a week) job?? and how long that you actually worked this full time job? Mr. Cooper seems to only say bits & parts of the truth! What is the whole truth????????????????

Every few years someone that has way more talk than substance runs for city council. Brian Gullickson for example - he even got elected, and was in over his head from Day 1. Mr Cooper talks a lot, but really doesn't say much that is meaningful. I must say that his drunken performance on the YouTube video speaks volumes. Looks like someone who could be a City Leader?

I am really surprised that he has not responded yet today? I would really like it if Jamie would post a complete and accurate resume for us to view. If he is going to be running for city council then he needs to show us that he has the experience and skills needed to fill this position. Being poor, or an average joe, is not the only quality that I will take into consideration when deciding who I should vote for.

I understand he may have some deep message that he is trying to demonstrate through is music, but I think that it is very freaky! Please check it out. In his one video it shows a man burning as people stand around and watch. I am sure it was copied from another source, but it still sick.

I completely agree with tsy86h, I know we are not supposed to "judge a book by its cover", but... he is very colorful, and creepy, not exactly what a person would look for in a council candidate, of course that is my opinion. I too have read through this lengthy page of comments, and personally some of Cooper's responses sound like a "poor me" attitude as far as poverty, and be targeted by law enforcement, I have lived in poverty, but I chose to work myself out of it, and as far as the trouble with police, your past follows you- whether it be fair or not, that is why my parents taught me (and I am sure other parents taught them as well) to be well mannered and act appropriately, and be law abiding children- and adults- along with morals. I have also read all of the statements made by Cooper regarding chemical dependency issues, I have not heard that he was a licensed CD counselor? And by lookng at his you tube videos he doesn't strike me as the "big brother" - role model type.

whether or not the police are city employee's, doesn't make it ok for rights abuse issues to occur.
I have a distaste for anything that would deny Us our liberties, or abuse you.
I am not anti-police, in fact if you were to ask children who frequented my arcade, they thought of me as pro-police.
I was under the false assumption that our local police would appreciate a heads up once in a while regarding criminal activities affecting our city's youth.
I came to find, they didn't, in fact they resented it.
it's a sad situation when our county needs to hire paid informants and keep their names confidential from our local police, because our local police have leaked information to local drug dealers as to who informants were and nearly cost lives in the process.
I feel we deserve a level of performance from our police,
What is their purpose if it is not to protect and serve?
Law abiding citizens should never have cause to fear our police.
I donate yearly to the state troopers association, that's why I have the sticker on my vehicle.
I believe city council pays roughly $800 a month and Mayor pays $1600.00 a month.
while I could use the money, that is not my primary motivation in running for public office.
I am not asking for pity because of poverty or the physical disabilities I am forced to live with, just an opportunity to perform tasks that will benefit my community.
I feel that poverty should not be used as an excuse for public employee's to ignore our rights and privileges.

as for "Henry Martyn Robert's rules to bring order out of chaos", yes I am familiar.
I am familiar with many of our great thinkers, from various era's of history, I am a history and theology buff.
I'm currently reading the meditations of Marcus Aurelius.
my reading preference have always been non-fiction, as a child I read encyclopedias, from cover to cover, I collect old dictionaries, and thesaurus', the only non fiction books I keep around are "the lord of the rings trilogy", of which I have 4 different editions. I think reading is a crucial part of our community and that is why I fully support our public Library.
I can't begin to cite the benefit's our public Library has provided.
the reason we have a municipal liquor arrangement in the first place was to fund our Library.
I was apposed to those funds being funneled into the bigwood events center, when most of our cities voters voted against it, and I feel we should support our Library in this current offer which will allow our Library to receive half a million dollars from the state.
as for the question of experience.
while employed at ottertail power from age 14 to 17, I participated in a program called "work experience, career exploration program or WeCep", I was voted as master of ceremony, and essentially organized and worked the events for the annual dinners to honor the employers.
I helped my grandmother organize and operate fundraisers to open the local senior center, which also involved public speaking.
working in various management positions, in fast food, and other food service establishments, not only required people management skills, but bookkeeping skills.
while raising money for Dawson Rude to save his life, I sold over 3000 raffle tickets by talking one on one with people, I was also the MC for the event.
I have had various levels of involvement with other organizations as well. ( childrens miracle network, Ronald McDonald House Charities, Toys For Tots, habitat for humanity, united way, amnesty international, keep a breast foundation, save the boobies, American cancer society, the sierra club, teach tolerance foundation, the October 22nd coalition, ect ...)
I also practice a concept Paul Wellstone, told me about while filming my son and I for his tv commercial, in which, I do a good deed, and tell no-one about it, if anyone finds out it was me, it doesn't count.
instead of accepting payment for my help, often I have just asked them to help someone else in need in the future, I am sure some of you out there remember me saying this to you in person.

obviously I must have some level of organizational skills to have opened and operated a business locally for well over a year, that's longer than many last.
I used to have blind faith in our public servants myself.
Life has shown me in many ways why this is a dangerous concept.
I am not asking for your blind faith nor should anyone whom you are paying!
these posts you refer to as long and redundant, are detailed answers to questions that have been asked, perhaps
try getting that from anyone else this election!
tsy86h, I have never been into having "band groupies", as you suggested.
while I do also have an appreciation for the female form, I have always supported women's rights, and feel there are many more changes needed to help create an atmosphere for equality both in the workplace as well as in our city politics.
I haven't seen a woman hold a city council position yet, and honestly I am sure there are qualified local woman who should!
"If elected will you soon become bored with your new position and loose your passion for the cause? " - workingmom
I think this is a great question, and one you should be concerned about in an election, I will cite a few facts for you.
I began making music at age 15, I performed in Minneapolis last month at age 38.
I have owned a home in Fergus falls for the past 15 years.
if I were the type of person who gave up quickly, I would have given up on this community many years ago.
I have performed on stage for over 15 years, the last time in Fergus falls being in 1996.
it has been suggested to me on many occasions that I would have been better off moving to locations better suited to my music, but this is my home, so I stayed.
I hope that answers your question about if I would give up on this community quickly?
I hope I answered these questions for you, and hope to answer more as the arise.
thanks

I don't want to enflame this thread or anything, but by judging a person on their music style or art doesn't really make a lot of sense to me.
As long as they make some positive changes in the local government, I don't care if what they do on their own time and in their own home. There's plenty of more shocking things on the internet if one is looking for that sort of entertainment.
I'd be willing to vote on the possibility of change rather than the "same old thing" that's been in place for decades.

Interesting....you state "Law abiding citizens should never have cause to fear our police"....however you totally contradict yourself in a previous statement: "If something should happen to me, I hope some of you out there will save this story and remember it". In my opinion, the latter exudes a FEAR of something happening to you (by police, I'm presuming)...so since you have this fear are you are not law abiding? It sounds like you are talking in circles....and for the record, the correct spelling is "O-P-P-O-S-E" (not appose). That's where the good old dictionary would come in handy again!

although I sometimes contributed music for the television show "BnCtv", it was not my show!
My Tv show is called "Jamie Cooper presents" and has only one episode.
in this episode, there are a few live performances by my band "the METASONICS" a couple comedic sketches, and a documentary about the West Memphis three organization, involving three men on death row for a crime DNA evidence has proven they couldn't have committed.
I was the target of "satanic panic" in high school, when some of you, claimed I worshiped the devil because I had long hair, and listened to wild music, it's sad to see this many years later, and after all the misery you have forced into lives, which ended at times in suicide, that you are still here today, making satanic accusations.
at what point will you just admit, that you were bullies, against people who spoke out, and came from families of lesser income that yours?
to be completely honest as I said in high school, I don't know of an entity known as "Satan" so it is impossible for me to be "satanic", Just as I don't believe in trolls, or and other irrational fantasy creatures, I believe there may be a God or master plan to our existence, but these imagined demons and devils are just ridiculous.
As a History Buff, I know the earlier versions of these stories, and some of these stories have outlived their purpose or the original meaning has been lost.
I am an ordained minister in the ULC non-denominational faith and have been since 2006.
the Universal Life Church is a simple faith to “Do that Which is Right.”
it is our faith that "not only have you been given the ability to determine right from wrong, it is your responsibility", however "All are free to walk their path, as long as it does not infringe on the rights of others"
We encourage personal responsibility and freedom.

in the matters concerning my children who do not live with me, due to being impoverished while working 50 hours a week in restaurants, along with the fact that the only real rights I had was to pay child support, when their mother offered an adoption scenario, with a new and promising spouse, I was given the opportunity to ask my children what they preferred and they preferred, that I sign the papers, so I did.
It;s not like signing away parental rights is a easy decision, and I hope you are never in a position like that.
my children, whom I will always be my children regardless of what papers say, have a great relationship with me and most likely will be voting for me in this election, or so my daughter told me last night.
There is one other child, Who's mother attempted to kill me, for "defying God", because I did not want to marry her.
I admit I did not have as much involvement with this child as I would have liked, as I rarely knew where he lived, while raising the son who still resides with me now, I just didn't have the resources to rack down information I wish I had.

this child suffered many physical and sexual abuses at the hands of his mothers boyfriends and family, as papers I later obtain showed. He was institutionalized and is known to be physically aggressive toward other children.
when I was finally offered the opportunity to have that child move into my home, I had to weigh, the safety of the son who I got to raise, against the dangers of bringing in a child who had been abused most of his life and has assaulted others on numerous occasions.
A child whose mother no longer wanted and abandoned to the state.
it was a hard decision, but eventually, I chose, to keep the proven successful, environment I had provided my youngest son with, and allow another family to adopt him.
my youngest child has physical disabilities and He would not be able to defend himself from a physical attacker.
I just could not bring a physically, and sexually aggressive child into my Youngest sons home.
I haven't disowned any of my children, nor do I deny any of them.
I just didn't have the opportunity to be all I wish I could have.
perhaps this is why I feel the rights of children need to be protected as fervently as I do?
perhaps this is also why I am not as accepting of sex offenders as some of our community is?
either way, there you have it.
I have had to make many difficult decisions in my life.
this is another reason I feel I am qualified to hold a position on our city council.
Like I said , I have both paid child support and now receive for my handicapped son now.
I understand the issues both sides of child support face.
I have both worked 50 hours a week only to take home $7.00 every two weeks, and been on the other side where a little child support could have helped.
who else in this election can say that?
Who else in this election would even talk openly about any of these issues?
We all have trials and impossible situations in our lives.
I wonder what theirs are?, Remember, everyone has them!

workingmom, this is that comment from you I will respond to.
please research the word appose. you can just type it in up in the right hand corner if you are using Mozilla.
I am a law abiding citizen, but that hasn't mattered in past incidents, I was still treated as a criminal, and sentenced to pay for, the crimes of what?
giving a ride to a friend?, owning a licensed and registered handgun?, after making sure the police even approved where and how it was stored.
I bent over backwards to cooperate with our police and provide them with information that would have saved lives and cleaned up drug trafficking in our city.
my reward for that was slander and fines.
the point I am making is that WE, law abiding citizens should never have need to fear our police.
I have seen our police blatantly violate the rights of our people, and flat out abuse their power.
I have personally been on the receiving end of that abuse.
I question why they get offended by rock solid information about the local drug trade.
and I promise you, I have worked and will work to change that!
