What takes gas prices so long to fall?
Published Thursday, August 21, 2008
Oil prices are dropping somewhat nowadays. That is very good.
What seems funny to me is when a barrel of oil goes up overseas, our stations right away raise prices 10 to 15 cents a gallon, but when the price goes down, the stations only drop the price at the pump a cent or two.
They claim it is because the fuel in their tanks was bought at a higher price. That may be, but what about the cheaper fuel in their tanks when the price (per barrel) goes up?
We’re getting it in the backside again, as always.

They just want us to think 3.60 a gallon is 'way' better than 4.00.... So they keep it here for awhile until we get used to it and say what the hell...

Also, why is it that all summer the price of gas in Detroit Lakes and Fargo has been 10 to 15 cents less than Fergus Falls? Each time I've traveled to either location I always wait to fill up, knowing that it's cheaper. Maybe somebody from the stations in Fergus can answer this.

prices in FF are usually about 5 cents cheaper then PR as for why they are cheaper in DL its the super walmart gas station and as for fargo I can only think its because theres alot more competition up there

I'm sure your prices are cheaper than ours. I paid $3.99/gal yesterday here in Michigan. No excuses.

Check out the commodities in the stock market. Unleaded gas has been going for around 2.70 for quite some time now. Prices at the pump used to be about .40 above that, not the .75+ there getting in town for it now!!!

I stopped in DL this weekend and bought gas 11 cents cheaper than when I left Fergus. When I returned later in the day, prices were starting to jump all around Fergus. Glad I stopped rather than thinking I'd spend my money at home!
