Car prowls reported

Published Friday, August 29, 2008

Police are investigating a series of car prowls in Fergus Falls overnight Wednesday.

The incidents occurred along the 500, 600 and 700 blocks between Union and Second Avenues, according to police.

At least four people told police they believed their vehicles had been entered early Thursday morning.

No damage was reported, but thieves took items including an iPod, cash and change.

In at least one incident, a purse stolen from a vehicle was located a block away.

i thought a curfew was put in place a few years ago. the FFPD should readjust their game plan for awhile to get this crap under control.

I agree with the above comments, and no one should be going into anyone elses car, home ect. But we HAVE HAD A LOT of this going on. My question is, why would anyone leave anything of value in their cars? Purse, IPOD cash..

who says these crimes were committed by kids?

inexperienced thieves would break windows and know the victims. these crimes were most likely committed by one person on foot. being a late Wednesday night, the criminal was most likily under the influence of a substance.
we should be looking for someone who lives in the area involved with drug dealing or late weekday parties.
my guess would be an opportunist adult female amphetamine addict.

Well who says these crimes were done by adults or kids. Why would it have to be an adult female, what if it is male? Or who says this person is a drug addict? No one knows unless one they see them or to they get caught I still think the FFPD shouldnt be sitting at holiday. How many people really get to go take breaks with their other co-workers? I don't think a lot of people get to do that.

I'm a Security Officer, and I was doing some undercover work. I noticed that morning there were some kids riding skateboards around apartments at around midnight.

What apartments? Anywhere near where the crimes were reported?

Try organizing Neighborhood Watch programs. Ask the PD about them. They can help you organize. Everyone should be committed to a safe and secure neighborhood.
