No injuries in several weekend accidents

Published Monday, September 8, 2008

The Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Department had a busy weekend, responding to several vehicle accidents. The good news is that no serious injuries or fatalities were reported. On Friday at 10:30 p.m., two teenagers were injured in a single-vehicle accident along 170th Street, just east of County Road 25 south of Fergus Falls. The driver, Justin Beyer, 19, of Fergus Falls, lost control of a 2005 Dodge Ram pickup and rolled the vehicle.

Sustaining minor injuries was Lauren Nelson, 18, of Kensington. She was not wearing a seat belt and was in stable condition after being taken to Lake Region Hospital, Fergus Falls. Another passenger, Brandon Harstad, 17, of Wendell, also was injured. He was hospitalized and later released.

On Sunday at 10:30 p.m. a 16-year-old female from rural Pelican Rapids was injured along Highway 108. While attempting to press the break she mistakenly pressed the accelerator, sending the vehicle across the intersection and into a ditch. The 16-year-old, Sydney Margaret Marty, of Pelican Rapids, escaped injury.

The driver of a vehicle traveling near Marion Lake between Dent and Perham lost control and rolled several times Saturday about 3:30 a.m. Two males and one female were taken to Perham Memorial Hospital. Names and the extent of the injuries were not available.

The Daily Journal is happy to host community conversations about news and life in Fergus Falls and the surrounding area. As hosts, we expect guests will show respect for each other. That means we don't threaten or defame each other, and we keep conversations free of personal attacks. Witty is great. Abusive is not. If you think a post violates these standards, don't escalate the situation. Instead, flag the comment to alert us. We'll take action if necessary. It's not hard. This should be a place where people want to read and contribute -- a place for spirited exchanges of opinion. So those who persist with racist, defamatory or abusive postings risk losing the privilege to post at all.

I see injuries galore mentioned in this article...stange considering the title.

I wonder if anyone proofreads these articles? If so, they should have said something about the title to the author...

The word is "brake", not "break"
