People injured in three workplace falls
Published Tuesday, September 9, 2008
Three people were injured in falls throughout Otter Tail County Monday afternoon and early Tuesday.
Craig Michael Pohlman, 23, Brandon, sustained a possible broken wrist Monday afternoon after falling approximately 12 feet from the roof of All Building Corporation in Fergus Falls. Pohlman, believed to be a sub-contracted roofer, told Fergus Falls police he took a step right off the roof. The incident was reported at about 2:40 p.m.
At about the same time, Larry Johnson of Dent escaped serious injury with only bruises after reportedly falling 16 feet from a ladder while installing a television satellite dish at an Erhard residence.
“The ladder went one way and he went the other way and he landed on his dish,” said Cynthia Johnson, who drove her husband to Lake Region Hospital for testing following the fall.
Larry Johnson refused EMS treatment after reporting the incident to the Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Department at about 3 p.m. He has no broken bones, his wife said, but has many bruises.
Fergus Falls police received another report of a fall at about 5:20 a.m. this morning, this one from Wal-Mart. Sandra Kay Hage fell and hit her head while working, according to police, and regained consciousness while being treated by staff from Ringdahl Ambulance. Hage was transported to Lake Region Hospital.

The Daily Journal is happy to host community conversations about news and life in Fergus Falls and the surrounding area. As hosts, we expect guests will show respect for each other. That means we don't threaten or defame each other, and we keep conversations free of personal attacks. Witty is great. Abusive is not. If you think a post violates these standards, don't escalate the situation. Instead, flag the comment to alert us. We'll take action if necessary. It's not hard. This should be a place where people want to read and contribute -- a place for spirited exchanges of opinion. So those who persist with racist, defamatory or abusive postings risk losing the privilege to post at all.Posted by Norse (anonymous) on September 9, 2008 at 12:57 p.m. (Suggest removal)
What shall we do about this thing called gravity? It seems dangerous.

May we see a pic of the alleged roof and ladders, please?

The gravitational pull is getting stronger due to all of the carbon dioxide in the air - another problem caused by global warming.

...of course I meant hilarious.

Garsh, I think I fell at work yesterday too!

That's horrible that all of those people fell, but it's funny that the Journal can't find something a bit more print worthy for it's paper... I know if I fell, I'd feel pretty stupid yet laugh it off, but don't think I'd want the whole town/world to know about it!! Get some real news.. there's elections happening... use them!!

I hope this doesn't end up on Leno like the garbage can story... :-/

lookitup,
can you provide some fact regarding this connection you are claiming between global warming and increased gravitational pull?
no surprise those who oppose healthcare reform feel it necessary to trivialize the injuries of others.
I see Mccain's putting country first nationalist message is already showing it's virtue.
one people, ein nation, ein fuhrer.
apparently for a nation to be strong it requires devouring anyone unfortunate enough to fall down, like a pack of wild dogs.
reminds of their comments when a man was lost in a cornfield only to be found dead.
I agree this is kind of a pointless story unless the point was to see how insensitive some posters are about serious injuries of area people.

History Lesson fur Heime, The Nazi Party was SOCIALIST...More in line with the healthcare plans touted by O-ama.
As for Global Warming....It has become the catch-all reasoning of simple-minded liberals. In equal fashion Jaime do prove to us how their ain't no correlation between the two as lookitup has posted above.
Why stop there....Did you also realize that the polar Ice Caps of MARS are melting??? Who's Responsible?

the Nazi's were extreme right wing Fascists! enemies of the socialist Communists.
the Reichstag building went up in flames. Nazis immediately claimed that this was the beginning of a Communist revolution. This fact leads many historians to believe that Nazis actually set, or help set the fire. Others believe that a deranged Dutch Communist set the fire. The issue has never been resolved. This incident prompted Hitler to convince Hindenburg to issue a Decree for the Protection of People and State that granted Nazis sweeping power to deal with the so-called emergency. This laid the foundation for a police state.
hmmm? what other financial building was destroyed and continues to be debated as to who is responsible?
Posted by cascade (anonymous) on September 10, 2008 at 7:03 a.m. (Suggest removal)
Actually- the Reichstag housed the first parliament (not a financial institution) of Germany, and the Nazis were first known as The National Socialist German Workers Party. Interesting how topics can meander...

"hmmm? what other financial building was destroyed and continues to be debated as to who is responsible?"
Uhuh, I think the fine candidate for public office should explain to us what he really thinks about the Nazi's Extreme Right Wing Fascists and how in his mind they relate to anything in todays molecular arrangement.
I find it amazing how easily people can form opinions and consider them fact without knowing more than just a few shallow incidents. For your own benefit do take a look the history of Germany between 1914 and 1940, examine the details and first hand eyewitness accounts. Then take a step back and re-evaluate how things from history align with the way things are today.
Just to keep cascade on the path, everyone be careful out there today, one mis-step and a thing called gravity will pull you to the surface of the earth faster than you can say Al Franken.

I think Jamie Cooper should run for "Wikipedia" president instead of city council...he seems to know many facts about history,,,pretty sure he is using the "copy-paste" method for most of his postings.... while posting at 4am....get some sleep and maybe you can have a daytime job.

I think we need more gravity on the south side of town to help with the water pressure problem. (That's a joke, Jamie Cooper, just like the earlier post - clearly you have no sense of humor, but you are a spammer - soon you will have more posts than chipmunk has, and in 1/3 the time).

Whoa, wait a minute, people.
The theory of gravity is just that -- a theory. Like evolution -- just a theory. Just because 100 percent of scientific evidence supports the theory of gravity, it doesn't make it true.
I choose to believe in a different theory, not gravity. I believe in the theory of heavy design, where God decides to keep things on the ground by making them heavy.
I have every right to my own competing theory. Let's not get carried away with this gravity thing.

lookitup,
frequent posting is not the same as spamming and humor is a relative term.
the greenhouse warming problem we have is not mostly from pollutants that are man made, however once you add our pollutants to the equation, the natural balance is being disrupted, at ever increasing rates, and the environment is not able to compensate for it.
we need renewable and cleaner energy sources.
this is not a conservative vs. liberal issue.
Norse,
strange how the only people I see using global warming as a catch-all are you and Rush Limbaugh fans in an attempt to discredit liberals.
masking irresponsible environmental exploitation with humor and stereotypes won't benefit anyone but a handful of the upper elite who don't care what kind of world they leave in their wake.
it's time to Man up, and do something about it, instead of hiding behind insipid attempts at levity while the problem keeps getting worse.

why should the voters care that I wrote a song portraying Nazi's as akin to homsexuals 20 years ago?

Spam is flooding the Internet with many copies of the same message. Most spam is commercial advertising, often for dubious products, get-rich-quick schemes, or quasi-legal services.
Try looking it up, lookitup.

Take a look at metasonics' posting history - several examples of posting the same text, over and over, in different threads - maybe not the textbook example of "spamming" for commercial purposes, but certainly fitting part of the definition.
"why should the voters care that I wrote a song portraying Nazi's as akin to homsexuals 20 years ago?" - I don't know - you tell me - you are the one that posted the lyrics on this site a couple of months ago. Why did you do that?
