Using tragedies for votes
Published Thursday, September 11, 2008
Where were you when you heard the news about the attacks that took place on Sept. 11, 2001? For most, that’s an easy question.
For many the attacks could possibly be the most important events to occur in our lifetimes. If you look across generation lines, the attacks rank up there with the news of President John F. Kennedy's assassination, the attacks on Pearl Harbor and the sinking of the Titanic.
Footage and images of these important events in history evoke many emotions for those who were alive at the time. This is particularly true for the Sept. 11 attacks. These emotions, however, are being used by politicians in an attempt to gain votes.
Now, seven years after the attacks, presidential campaigns are using the images of the attacks to evoke emotions and convince us to vote for a certain candidate. During the Republican National Convention a graphic video showed the second plane crashing into one of the towers and the first tower falling in a lead-up to John McCain's acceptance speech at the Republican National Convention.
On this anniversary of the tragic attacks on the United States we should agree that showing clips of the planes crashing into the towers for political gain is offensive and crosses a line. The footage captured on the morning of Sept. 11, 2001 is a great educational tool for the generations to come and should not be discarded, and the events should not be forgotten. The footage should, however, be kept off of the campaign trail.
The video was an unfair exploitation of those people and families involved in the attacks. More than 6,250 people were injured and 2,998 died as a result of the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001.
But the entire nation was affected.
Do not let tasteless videos that bring back traumatic emotions and memories change your vote.

The Daily Journal is happy to host community conversations about news and life in Fergus Falls and the surrounding area. As hosts, we expect guests will show respect for each other. That means we don't threaten or defame each other, and we keep conversations free of personal attacks. Witty is great. Abusive is not. If you think a post violates these standards, don't escalate the situation. Instead, flag the comment to alert us. We'll take action if necessary. It's not hard. This should be a place where people want to read and contribute -- a place for spirited exchanges of opinion. So those who persist with racist, defamatory or abusive postings risk losing the privilege to post at all.Posted by sametoyou (anonymous) on September 11, 2008 at 12:48 p.m. (Suggest removal)
But if the repubs don't use scare tactics, and shouldn't lie because there all christians, how can they campaign? It's all they got!

***News Flash*** DATELINE September 11, 2008 Fergus Falls Minnesota
There is nothing new under the sun this year when it comes to politicians, politics, or campaigns and how they are run. The same sad old platforms, insults etc are trotted out every season by each side. What makes it compelling is that the American people, Republican, Democrat, and others fall for it everytime by consistently getting caught up in the retoric.
Please I beg of all of you, ignore the commercials, the slam articles, the letters to the editors of whatever paper you read and THINK FOR YOURSELVES. Take the time to do some honest research into the candidates and make an INFORMED decision. Do not let yourself be LED into voting for one candidate or another just because of their party affiliation or yours. Or even worse what somebody else THINKS you should do.
Personally I am still not sure which way I will be voting on numerous races as I haven't made up my mind. Thankfully there is still time.

Romans 13:1. The future of this election is not up to you or me. You can choose to pray and get on God's side (what he says in the Bible here)or not, but it its God who is charge of putting the president in office.

Romans 13:1 reads "1Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God."
Now I detest discussing religion with anybody but I must chime in. If I understand you correctly Freda if NOBODY on earth who is legally able to vote in the upcoming election does so then God is going to cast the swing vote?
I truly am not trying to mock here, I am a beleiver myself but I am guessing this has a little to do with free will Freda. I am no expert on God or the bible but I am guessing that this is one of those things that God kinda leaves to us. Either that or we can save untold money by closing the polling places and just wait for God to choose our President.
Blast away folks.

I wish both parties would quit throwing mud and using sensationalism in their ads and tell me what they stand for!Nobody seems to want to tell us how they are going to do all the wonderful things they are promising to do. They are so busy saying nasty things about each other and looking for stuff to complain about that they aren't talking about the issues. This last bit about the uproar about the lipstick on a pig statement is just so senseless! The McCain camp is sure defensive about their wonderful VP candidate aren't they? And the Obama camp isn't any better. I think the American people are in trouble no matter which one gets the job.

Coming from a species of arrogant bald monkeys who actually think their gonna exist after their short stay here on this planet in the present. BTW; that's not god's hand writing. Perhaps a quote from an interesting but poorly written history book written by our ancestors in an attempt to control the minds of the masses and create conflict between differing groups. There's several other books written for the same purpose. They seem to be working as our species continues to kill each other in the name of the alleged authors. I prefer to admit that I just don't know why we're here. I do know that our purpose might be to look after everyone else. Whether weak or strong. Makes more sense than killing each other.

Wow, I just gotta say, only one party has the leaders that can deal with the yahoos, achmeds, and fatwa declarors of the world. As much as I like Bill Clinton, his 'people' had neither the brains nor the guts to do what was needed. Sending a 2Million$ missle to knock over a tent and a camel really showed them huh.
Osama Hussein and his sidekick Biden wouldn't know the first thing about keeping our country protected from those threats. So to say someone is using the events or threats thereof for political purpose is just additional liberal hogwash (I wonder if that will remove the lipstick off Michelle that Osama sees right thru). If you need further evidence of ability just look back to Jimmy Carter Dr. Peace. Couldn't even orchestrate a rescue mission.
The Heros are Ronald Reagan, Bush SR. (Read my lips did him in), and Beleive it or not Bush Jr.
When one questions Bush Jr, they need to ask themselves how bad could things have been with someone like "I invented the internet"/"Save the world with a lightbulb" Gore, or Lord Kerrious at the helm.

That "soccer mom" has accomplished more legislative progress and even more governmental reform than barack ever will, and that was just in her last two years! Barack has successfully earmarked about 1,000,000 dollars in wasteful spending (of your money) for each DAY sitting in his senate seat.

"Under President Clinton the growth in debt ceased, but note the radical change in direction since George W. Bush entered office. There is no question and a lot of mathematical proof that the steepest upward rises in debt since the end of World War II, started with President Reagan and continued with other so called Neo-Conservatives. (See red in Figure 1 below. For larger views of any graph in this paper just put your mouse pointer over the graph and click on it)."

"Hero" is not a term I'd use in a description of these individuals.
Additionally, you forgot the other part of the question at the end of your comment (since we're asking counterfactuals). Namely, you should ask yourself how much better things could have been with Gore or Kerry at the helm? Since it's all just speculation anyway, if you're going to explore alternate realities, you should at least attempt to see both sides.

wow isn't it heroic how Ronald Reagan could have gotten the Iranian embassy hostages home long before the election was over but let them wait until he was elected.
what a hero.
and giving all those weapons to Hussein, what a brilliant strategy you Republicans had.
no wonder you were so sure they still had WMD's.
they were made in the USA.
and Bush SR. who told hussein he could go into kuwait originally and had our troops leave before sacking Baghdad.
what a hero.
Bush jr.??? you have to be kidding!
the cocaine addict, draft dodger, who made his money from the bin laddens?
what's heroic about him?
That "soccer mom" has accomplished to run a town of less than 4,000 residents with a balanced budget, $30 million in the hole.
she managed to gain a reputation of firing anyone who dares disagree with her in any way, she managed to halt the construction of a bridge that was already paid for and she managed to keep the money.
she is now marketing her gender and lipstick as qualities of leadership?

commonsense: Do you have any evidence to support your claim? Of course, that would be impossible at this point, since you're talking about the entire life of Obama (which hasn't ended yet), but let's forget about that.
Do you have any evidence to support the dollar amount claims, and a way of showing how it can reasonably be linked to Obama?
IF that's an example of "common sense" then it appears to be vastly over-rated.

Do some more research, the evidence is in his voting record. Change in washington? more like the same liberal socialism the dems have been consumed by. They have lost touch with middle america and is why they have lost the last 2 elections and it will continue.
This article: Why is it suddenly taboo to show what happened to this country 7 years ago? We are still at war with terrorists and should never forget what happened. If you dont think we are at war with violent muslim extremists then you look as silly as those protestors (conspriacy theorists) outside the DNC and RNC.

You mean those muslim extremists that attacked us because Bush, Sr. parked our Christian Army right smack in the middle of their muslim country? You suppose that might have had something to do with 911? Ever wonder why all but one of the hijackers came from Saudi A. In case you need a reminder, that's where our Christian Army was parked. Not an excuse for what happened; just a cause.

From reading the many comments posted in these forums, it's clear that the War between the USA and the Middle East is not at all about ideology. It's about Christians and Muslims and oil, more of less a religious war. Who's gonna win? The one with the biggest guns, of course; as I've seen no sign of the christian god or the Muslim god stepping in to stop it. You keep on voting for he who you think is the best christian and the wars and the killing will continue. Don't forget, it didn't take long for the christians to bring down the Roman Empire. That was followed by eight hundred years of what's known as the dark ages in Europe.

Ahem, the Christians brought down the Roman Empire? Perhaps if you consider the paranoid delusional grasping at straws and blaming the Christians for their own failures and incompetence a weapon in bringing the self-destructive society to ruin. Very similar to things we hear today from the paranoid delusional crowd.
I beg to differ with the un-genuine draft; If you knew anything about today's armed forces you would realize that they are simply a sampling of the citizens. Do you consider everyone who lives in the United States of America a 'Christian'? Do you consider America 'Christian'? I can only deduce the answer to be yes based on your comment about Bush SR, parking his 'Christian Army'....
Take a sample of Fergus Falls for starters, as Christians go, what percentage of the 14,000 (give or take a few) would you say live with Christ as the example in their lives, and strive to do what Jesus would do or have them do?
How large would the Christian Army be that I could assemble from Fergus Falls?
Regardless of if you choose to believe it or not the reason for the issues between the tribes/nations was recorded Centuries ago, along with the prophesies of what is to come.

Here's the link - you better go recount.
Given my research, the statement, "Barack has successfully earmarked about 1,000,000 dollars in wasteful spending (of your money) for each DAY sitting in his senate seat." is FALSE.
Now, if you count the department of education, etc., as wasteful spending, then maybe you're getting close, but no rational person would take such a position.
Even if that obviously made-up figure were correct, it pales in comparison to what we're paying "private security firms" in Iraq. "The study does not include monetary figures for 2008, so the total paid to contractors for work in the Iraq theater since the invasion of Iraq in 2003 is probably much higher. If spending for contractors continues at about the same rate, by the end of the year, an estimated $100 billion will have been paid to military contractors for operations in Iraq."
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080813/ap_o...
See...I include my information, that way people know that I'm not just making things up and trying to pass them off as "true". It's the intellectually responsible thing to do (rather than hope others are too lazy to look up the information and just accept it).

I see a little racism peeking through! Painting all Muslims with the same brush doesn't fly with me. My niece is married to a Muslim and to quote him "the Muslims that did 9-11 and the suicide bombers are not practicing the Muslim religion as it was taught to me. I was taught much the same things that Jesus taught Christians ~ love your neighbor and respect others no matter what." I don't blame the Muslim religion for what Bin Laden did and is doing ~ these people are much like any radical group from any other religion except they have a lot of money (oil) behind them.

Mohammed is the one Muslims follow and defend.
Christian=To be Christ Like. While we know we are human and will not perfectly follow or emulate Jesus Christ, to be a Christian means that a person has committed to following the example that Jesus Christ lived and spoke, and that a person yields to the prompting of the Holy Spirit.

Hi as27, I read the link that you posted, nothing wrong there.
Posted by metasonics (anonymous) on September 12, 2008 at 6:28 p.m. (Suggest removal)
Norse,
Mary is the mother of Jesus according to all Christian faiths.
the Koran says that those too lazy to learn Arabic will never understand its meanings.
it is forbidden to allow others to interpret it's meanings.
translations cannot reveal what the Koran professes because of limitations of language.
to suggest that Muslims follow a different God is a polytheistic concept.
Posted by Norse (anonymous) on September 12, 2008 at 6:45 p.m. (Suggest removal)
So follow the link Jamie. Nobody is contesting that mary gave birth to Jesus. The Koran passages indicate that Allah did not have a son.
That's amazing about your Arabic knowledge, where exactly did you become an expert at reading and writing the language?
Intersting thing about the Bible, no matter which language it is translated into, one only needs to have the Holy Spirit to comprehend the meaning.

lol,
Christianity is a much more convenient religion, in fact Catholicism wasn't convenient enough so people decided to drop many of their rules too.
I don't need your links to tell me what the Koran says, furthermore I am not a Muslim.
I have a great wealth of knowledge concerning many cultures and languages, I've been internationally recognized for my research and development of "SENET, the ancient Egyptian game of strategy(c)",but I am not here as an educator.
my point was only that Muslims deserve respect and have been wrongfully stereotyped.
all three of the major religions have plagiarized vastly older religions.

Are these Eleven Rules Acceptable to you?
1. Do not give opinions or advice unless you are asked.
2. Do not tell your troubles to others unless you are sure they want to hear them.
3. When in another’s lair, show him respect or else do not go there.
4. If a guest in your lair annoys you, treat him cruelly and without mercy.
5. Do not make sexual advances unless you are given the mating signal.
6. Do not take that which does not belong to you unless it is a burden to the other person and he cries out to be relieved.
7. Acknowledge the power of magic if you have employed it successfully to obtain your desires. If you deny the power of magic after having called upon it with success, you will lose all you have obtained.
8. Do not complain about anything to which you need not subject yourself.
9. Do not harm little children.
10. Do not kill non-human animals unless you are attacked or for your food.
11. When walking in open territory, bother no one. If someone bothers you, ask him to stop. If he does not stop, destroy him.

Are these the five of the NINE things you'd want to not do?
1. Stupidity—The top of the list. It’s too bad that stupidity isn’t painful. Ignorance is one thing, but our society thrives increasingly on stupidity. It depends on people going along with whatever they are told. The media promotes a cultivated stupidity as a posture that is not only acceptable but laudable. we must learn to see through the tricks and cannot afford to be stupid.
2. Pretentiousness—Empty posturing can be most irritating and isn’t applying the cardinal rules of Lesser Magic. On equal footing with stupidity for what keeps the money in circulation these days. Everyone’s made to feel like a big shot, whether they can come up with the goods or not.
3. Solipsism—Can be very dangerous. Projecting your reactions, responses and sensibilities onto someone who is probably far less attuned than you are. It is the mistake of expecting people to give you the same consideration, courtesy and respect that you naturally give them. They won’t. Instead, We must strive to apply the dictum of “Do unto others as they do unto you.” It’s work for most of us and requires constant vigilance lest you slip into a comfortable illusion of everyone being like you. As has been said, certain utopias would be ideal in a nation of philosophers, but unfortunately (or perhaps fortunately, from a Machiavellian standpoint) we are far from that point.
4. Self-deceit— We must not pay homage to any of the sacred cows presented to us, including the roles we are expected to play ourselves. The only time self-deceit should be entered into is when it’s fun, and with awareness. But then, it’s not self-deceit!
5. Herd Conformity—That’s obvious from a our stance. It’s all right to conform to a person’s wishes, if it ultimately benefits you. But only fools follow along with the herd, letting an impersonal entity dictate to you. The key is to choose a master wisely instead of being enslaved by the whims of the many.
Posted by Norse (anonymous) on September 12, 2008 at 10:12 p.m. (Suggest removal)
With these being the remaining four of NINE?
6. Lack of Perspective—Again, this one can lead to a lot of pain. You must never lose sight of who and what you are, and what a threat you can be, by your very existence. We are making history right now, every day. Always keep the wider historical and social picture in mind. That is an important key to both Lesser and Greater Magic. See the patterns and fit things together as you want the pieces to fall into place. Do not be swayed by herd constraints—know that you are working on another level entirely from the rest of the world.
7. Forgetfulness of Past Orthodoxies—Be aware that this is one of the keys to brainwashing people into accepting something new and different, when in reality it’s something that was once widely accepted but is now presented in a new package. We are expected to rave about the genius of the creator and forget the original. This makes for a disposable society.
8. Counterproductive Pride—That first word is important. Pride is great up to the point you begin to throw out the baby with the bathwater. The rule is: if it works for you, great. When it stops working for you, when you’ve painted yourself into a corner and the only way out is to say, I’m sorry, I made a mistake, I wish we could compromise somehow, then do it.
9. Lack of Aesthetics—This is the physical application of the Balance Factor. Aesthetics is important in Lesser Magic and should be cultivated. It is obvious that no one can collect any money off classical standards of beauty and form most of the time so they are discouraged in a consumer society, but an eye for beauty, for balance, is an essential tool and must be applied for greatest magical effectiveness. It’s not what’s supposed to be pleasing—it’s what is. Aesthetics is a personal thing, reflective of one’s own nature, but there are universally pleasing and harmonious configurations that should not be denied.

mr cooper, if you believe everything in the zeitgeist movie, then you would believe just about anything. most of what is in that movie is not fact and is twisted to appear to be true. why dont you look up "zeitgeist debunked" on both google and youtube. what kind of "preacher man" would be recommending others to watch a movie that is making claims that Jesus never really existed. does the word oxymoron work for you?

Norse,
I'm not familiar with whatever religion you are promoting, but I find the inclusion of "magic" a bit
ffrogg, I guess it all depends on if we are seeking facts or if we are promoting self-superiority based on faith?
My point was simply, that all people deserve to be treated with respect regardless of their faith.
I have researched the zeitgeist movie claims and found more fact than fiction.
I don't support using religion as a means to persecute people.
in fact our constitution promises the opposite.

I wouldn't claim to promote the creed above, however I would point out that it seems to be one that many people follow unknowingly, and some head-on. Your own Obama and his worship Saul Alinsky...
"Lest we forget at least an over-the-shoulder acknowledgment to the very first radical: from all our legends, mythology, and history (and who is to know where mythology leaves off and history begins -- or which is which), the first radical known to man who rebelled against the establishment and did it so effectively that he at least won his own kingdom -- Lucifer."

"Listen to the voice of Obama, either he has a cold in his lungs every time he talks, or he is sneaking heaters behind that lisptick laden Michelle's back every chance he gets." - Norse
Prov 6:16-19
16 There are six things which the LORD hates, Yes, seven which are an abomination to Him:
17 Haughty eyes, a lying tongue, And hands that shed innocent blood,
18 A heart that devises wicked plans, Feet that run rapidly to evil,
19 A false witness who utters lies, And one who spreads strife among brothers.
Listen to your own voice Norse. you sought out "the Satanic Bible" and posted excerpts from it?
you have previously posted that you are a Christian, so I ask you now, do you remember your baptismal promises?
have you rejected Satan?, And all his works?

Yep I linked that book of which speak, for the purpose of exposing it's content so that others might realize how it matches up with how so many people choose to live their lives, yet perhaps not admiting even to themselves WHOM THEY SERVE.

that's your own business.
share your name? if you want to discuss criminal databases and cast stones.
your posting history proves how you enjoy speaking with a forked tongue.
you charge me with blasphemy? for reading a medical dictionary aloud? and spitting pudding?
I don't need tips on the Holy Bible from you, and noone has been asking for your Satanic Bible tips either.
it's clear whom you serve.
ending your post with an insincere nicety may impress some of your self-worshiping gang of faux christens, but it won't make up for the rivers of innocent blood you and yours have spilled or the millions of limbs children are missing because of republican lies and money lust!
where are the WMD's?, what about Osama Bin Ladden?
why have the fruits of 6 years of unopposed republican rule been only bloodshed, lies, and inflation? with the final 2 years remaining unchanged.

May the Lord Jesus Christ be your example, and the Holy Spirit be your counselor and guide. May the powers of Lucifer and his minions be bound. Let those whose eyes have no scales be witness to truth, sharing the warnings with others who cannot yet see.

The events of 9/11 need to stay fresh in Americans mind so that we are reminded that there are still lots of people that love to kill Americans. Note that there has been no acts of terrorism since we struck back. No I don't approve of Iraq but we do need to leave gracefully. When we vote remember that there are some that are running for office that plan drastic cuts in the military.

and remember there are some running for office that support driving this country into a depression just to keep from admitting a few leaders lied to fill their own pockets while the rest of us struggle and die for it.
how do you propose we leave a unjustified war gracefully that we got into because of our own leaders lied to us?
I agree the events of 911 need to stay fresh in our minds.
this was the only time in history steel buildings burnt.
many a impossible thing happened during that event.
supposedly citizens took over a plane only to deliberately crash it into the ground and kill themselves?
where did the wreckage go?
what does the bible say about suicide?
they could have at least attempted landing the plane.
how stupid do the republicans think we are?
it is obvious that the world trade center was taken down by controlled demolition charges. building 7 wasn't even hit and they took it down.
learn a little about metallurgy.
why are there all kinds of video footage of the pentagon explosion but none showing a plane hitting it?
and again no wreckage?
why do our leaders tell us that Osama Bin Ladden took responsibility for these attacks? have you ever bothered to translate his statement about 911?
why do most in the Arab world contend that Osama Bin Ladden is made up CIA propaganda?, He is on record as a CIA agent.

I totally agree with Jerry. We need to gracefully leave Iraq. We cannot totally just pull out (like we did when Bush Sr. was in office), that would unjustify everything we have done over there in the last 7 years. I agree the soldiers need to come home soon, but we need to make sure we cover all sides before pulling out.
Also, Sept. 11, 2001 is the REAL reason why we are over there fighting in Iraq. Just remember what those A**holes did to us on that day...... and remember that when you vote in November.

The steel buildings did not "burnt" - the office furniture, copiers, paper, etc is what burned, along with several thousand gallons of jet fuel. The steel supports weakened and gave way after hours of exposure to the intense heat. Then the buildings collapsed of their own weight. There is no CIA conspiracy. metasonics - you are becoming more and more of a freak show on this site - unbelievable.

Well to comment back to you as27.....
I have not been in a "cave" for the last 7 years. Obviously you don't keep up with what's happened in the last 7 years.
Iraq had some nice little "training" camps on how to become a terroist (as do other countries that we currently have troops watching over). I'm not going to stoop to your level here, I've got my facts and opinions on this issue and really don't care what you think.
All I am going to say is that if you don't believe we have a just reason to be there, then maybe you should move to another country where their government supports your cause.
Cause living here in America, I respect the president (no matter how crappy some people think he has been), and stand behind him on how he handled this situation after Sept. 11.
There was almost 3000 americans killed that day...... as27, how would you handle that???

call me a freak show all you want, it won't change the facts!
steel buildings don't burn and never have before or after the 9/11 attacks.
building 7 wasn't even hit and it was leveled. the BBC was told by US sources that it collapsed at least 20 minutes before it did.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C7SwOT29g...
Bush claimed he watched the first plane hit the towers on TV right before he went into the classroom and learned of the 2nd plane.
How could that be? either he lied or he had previous knowledge it was going to happen.
the footage of the first plane wasn't available until a day later.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sm73wOuPL...
I guess the fact that Republicans publicly provided proof that they were planning to attack Iraq before Bush was even elected is suspicious.
"While the unresolved conflict with Iraq provides the immediate justification, the need for a substantial American force presence in the Gulf transcends the issue of the regime of Saddam Hussein ...
"the process of [military] transformation, even if it brings revolutionary change, is likely to be a long one, absent some catastrophic and catalyzing event - like a new Pearl Harbor ...
... advanced forms of biological warfare that can "target" specific genotypes may transform biological warfare from the realm of terror to a politically useful tool."
-- Rebuilding America’s Defenses, September 2000, Project for a New American Century
and then there was the CIA Operation Northwoods
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_N...
The plan called for CIA operatives to kill innocent people and commit acts of terrorism in U.S. cities to create public support for a war against Cuba.
This operation is especially notable in that it included plans for hijackings and bombings followed by the use of phony evidence that would blame the terrorist acts on Cuba.
these two documents are proof that some currently in office had motive to support bombing the WTC!
I'm not accusing anyone of doing it only proving that there was motive!
if we add in the findings of the senate intelligence report
http://intelligence.senate.gov/press/rec...
which proves the President and his cabinet lied to gain support for the Iraq war, maybe "freak show" isn't what you should be calling me.
I haven't lost my faith in democracy, it wasn't my candidates that did this to us.
maybe "patriot"! would be a bit more fitting?

It's a simple question, metasonics, and has nothing to do with votes. Were you in NYC in September of 2001 or were you not? If you were not, then you are a liar. If you were, please enlighten us as to just when and why you were there. A little disclosure from a public candidate is all we are asking for.

I think we all would be interested to know how/why Jamie aka Metasonic chose to inhale 'ashes of humans mixed with vaporized metal and countless other chemicals'
One might have to consider the variety of chemicals he has put into his body over the years and continues to put into his body...yes I have seen you on your motorscooter stopped at lincoln/union puffing on a cig. Isn't that where people are certain to get cancer?
Another confusing point is the claim that whatever was inhaled contained vaporized metal, didn't metawhatever post a rant about how Alex proves that vaporizing metal didn't bring the buildings down? The claim being that they were somehow brought down with explosives from the base? And that there is no way the fires could have gotten hot enough to melt metal much less vaporize it? Which is it, you can't have both!
I think the fact that Jamie chose to mention 911 dust as a cause for his s-docious, on a public forum at a time when he is running for public office and on a comment board replying to why Skanks would use Tragedy for getting votes, demands the truth and the whole truth from Jamie... Why did you mention 911 dust in relation to your condition? Were you in NYC during 9-11-2001? What were you doing there?
If you were not there how did you get the dust from 9/11, and what was the reason for inhaling it?
Posted by ginger_ale1 (anonymous) on September 19, 2008 at 11:08 a.m. (Suggest removal)
Jamie:
It is a fair enough question. You say you don't owe us an explanation, however in your post you said that you have a condition... Which appeared to be directly related to 9/11... Whether or not you intended to, you made it sound like your condition was a direct result of 9/11. I think that raised a huge "BS" flag for most of us on the site. Also, for someone with such a devastating respiratory ailment, why do you (as suggested by someone in an above post) continue to smoke? If you have such disregard for your already problematic lungs, how can I trust to you with my vote and be assured that you will be committed to doing the right thing once in office?

Why would ANYONE continue to smoke cancer sticks these days, especially those who have lost a 'loved one' to cancer just a few months ago. Isn't it just self-destructive (suicidal) behavior to smoke cigarettes when a person has sarcoidosis?
I'm with these other people Jaime, YOU brought up the 911 dust, and YOU must provide us with the facts or WE will continue to ask the question roughly in the same fashion as you promote yourself and seek our sympathies.

aircraft fuel can't cause metal to vaporize, thermite detonation loads can and have. they also cause pooling of liquid metal to accumulate and last for weeks, just like we saw with the WTC destruction.
as for questions concerning sarcoidosis?
I don't feel compelled to explain anything to people who consider the disease a joke in the first place and consistently call me a liar whatever I post.
Ole_Potato thinks I chose to inhale dust from the 9/11 attacks?
Norse thinks I'm asking for sympathy?

I've given you more in depth answers to obscenely delving and accusing questions in the past only to be consistently criticized and called a liar.
now I understand why the other candidates don't bother with you!
NYC has an unfair reputation of being rude, but Fergus falls has an unfair reputation too.
of being friendly.
I have never met a new yorker as rude as half of the posters on here and I even had a apartment leased on 78th Street between Amsterdam and Columbus Avenues, almost next-door to the Museum of Natural History and a couple blocks from central park and riverside park, when the WTC came down.
I was in the process of moving to NYC to participate in the Upright Citizens Brigade sketch comedy school.
I'm still close friends with its founder Matt Besser.
the events of 9/11 caused my son and I to change our minds.
but this isn't directly how I came to be choking on dust from the WTC.
I bought a pinball machine from a New Yorker, it didn't arrive in Fergus until after the attacks, when it arrived it was supposed to be like new but, instead it was covered in a dark soot like dust. while cleaning and fixing it, I blew on some dust that quickly turned into a cloud and gagged me. I coughed and inhaled more by accident, my eyes dried up and I vomited almost daily sometimes more often for a little over a month. I had night sweats and recurring bouts of unexplainable fatigue, then all symptoms went away for a few years except joint pains, the person I bought the pinball machine from later informed me the dust was from the 9/11 attacks and that I should see a doctor about the incident. I didn't have medical insurance so I just toughed it out.
a few years later while running my own business more symptoms came and eventually I was hospitalized and diagnosed. by Dr.s Kowitz, Money, Wentworth, Larsen, Vennerstrom, as well as a few others whose names I don't remember.

lookitup,
please explain why WTC building 7 fell.
isn't it strange that there was a third plane that was meant to hit in NYC that day but supposedly the passengers crashed it in a field leaving a crash site just over 20 feet long by 12 feet wide with no wreckage?
3 planes, 3 buildings fell? only two were hit but three fell?
how?
how could a steel and concrete building 47 stories tall collapse completely from just some debris? the official story is lack of water, next to the Hudson River.
the facts I find the most disturbing are that 2 of the planes from the 9/11 attacks are still in use and the pilots are still alive at Guantanamo bay.

I've seen some of the video's from the 'Business' you invested in. An ROI that anyone with a clue would have cancelled prior to inception.
Like I have said many times before Jamie, I don't detest you as a person, just the thousands of things that you do, say, promote and condone. I detest the choices that you have made in the past, and I feel that none of our young people should be influenced by the things you do/say/think/promote, perception is reality.
As for the WTC comments, typical secondhand conspiracy theory. Where do you get the idea that a third plane was destined for Building 7?
On the buildings themselves, just because there is some question about who took down building 7, doesn't change the facts that two planes flew into the towers. When the towers come down a reasonable person can see that the higher floors are falling first compressing down to the lower floors below them.

my business had a great ROI, (it lasted over a year) until I was robbed and police decided to portray me in a negative light.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dWGMDb3Jk...
so clue me in as to why arcade games, trading card games, and refreshments in an drug, alcohol, and smoke - free atmosphere before it was law was such a bad idea?
everything I touched seemed to turn to gold, until I learned about local drug and gang activity and attempted to do my civic duty by offering the police information and easy convictions.
what would have been a better business to invest in?, considering my deteriorating physical abilities at the time and hopes of providing my already physically limited son with a business he could take over some day.
the only two things that worked against my business were location and talking to the police.
the handgun was registered, I had a permit and it was stored exactly as the police told me was legal.
the only reason I had a handgun was because the police told me to handle drug dealers on my own.
obviously if I had known drug dealers lived right next door I wouldn't have rented that location.
how is any of this my failing?
I performed my civic duty and was blatantly punished for doing so.
it's almost as if some in positions of power have a vested interests in keeping illegal drug activity going?

Ole_Potato,
believe it or not at anytime any of us could become completely incapacitated, yourself included.
Remember that when you are criticizing and attacking those who have been through tragic events and/or incurable illness.
the facts the I have been through successful events as well as tragic uncontrollable unpreventable events are additional reasons to vote for me.
who do you think would understand you better when you are facing unforeseen tragedy?
a person who has been financed by parents through school into an easy career?, or a person who worked his way out of poverty and overcame disabilities only to be knocked down again by unforeseeable tragedy, and even then not caving in, despite organized powerful peoples combined efforts to keep me down.
I have proven my tenacity and there should be no question as to who I would be serving on the city council.
this city needs a person like me on it's city council!

Ugh, Is this board turning into comedy central? This one loudly announces that he is not using his 'tragedy' for votes, then goes on a ranting disertation about how he is qualified because he has been through 'tragedy'. Here is a tip for you Meta, if you pulled your head out of the sand that is your own pitty party for 10 seconds you might realize that everybody suffers some form of tragedy in our lives. Show us one silver spoon fed cake eater that actually gets to have cake, eat it, and enjoy life.
His rant also reaks of conspiracy and anti-establishment anti-authority. Power should never be given to such types.
As for what he has proven with his actions and words thus far....He will be serving H-I-M-S-E-L-F and the inspiration for North's referenced book from Target.

"anti-establishment anti-authority" - sounds like another Brian Gullickson.

wait a minute!
until you and your wierdo nuevo brand of republicans came along the establishment was about equality and decency.
I'm not anti authority, I'm anti-abuse of authority!
there are needs for police and even taxes, that doesn't make it ok to abuse either!
your brand of republicans have bankrupted our country and waged war against the innocent too damn long period!
you funnel tax dollars into your pockets and blame it on the poor!
this party of stolen lives and blood soaked stolen tax money needs to end!
I am anti-republican!
only because I was one when I was employed by the Republican national committee to promote the NRA.
what a party of lies and hate!
I've done some research on this Brian Gullickson, and aside from his drinking problems, it sounded like he wasn't such a bad council member.
I've seen every current council member buying booze at the liquor store while working at PEG access this summer, so whats your big gripe with Brian Gullickson?
is it because he wasn't in favor of the council voting themselves raises? or that he wasn't related to the local elitists that think somehow someday Bush and his private club are going to allow some of their stolen wealth to trickle down to them?
lookitup, what are you implying by calling sarcoidosis my "disease-of-the-week"?
are you now claiming to be smarter than every Dr. in history who has studied the disease or are you just back to calling me a liar as usual?
because "no I'm not, you are!"

are you attempting to say the rich are just as miserable as the poor?
I imagine it is just as testing for a person to decide between a new luxury sedan versus a luxury atv.
almost as testing as deciding whether to pay the electric bill or have hot water that month.
typical republican thought process!
no wonder your party bankrupted the USA in such a short time!

Brian Gullickson - talks a lot, says very little. Jamie Cooper - ditto.
Brian Gullickson - no relevant experience to be an elected official. Jamie Cooper - ditto.
Brian Gullickson - poor judgement ("don't you know who I am?"). Jamie Cooper - ditto (youtube videos).
Brian Gullickson - spread the BS real thick at times - Jamie Cooper - ditto (9/11 dust from a pinball machine, what a story!)
There are some differences - Brian Gullickson did not constantly avoid responsibility for things that happened to him. He worked hard at his job, in spite of his shortcomings.
etc, etc, etc, etc -

don't forget he didn't have a video of local police conducting illegal search and seizure, and mocking up a "crime scene" before police took photos as evidence aka "manufacturing evidence"
as for these smoking comments?
you should do a little research

I think he or someone has the dashcam video of him screaming like a little girl when they tazed his pompous ignorant belligerent drunk carcass.
As for Jaime's video editing, NOBODY CARES, obviously not even the JUDGE or your Lawyer. Too Bad Soo Sad.
Posted by metasonics (anonymous) on September 26, 2008 at 9:52 a.m. (Suggest removal)
what judge?, my lawyer?, is that what the court appointed defender passes for? there was no way they would have ever allowed a judge to see that video. the officers wife aka the prosecutor made sure of that.
apparently both sides have to agree as to what can be admitted into evidence.
video editing? I'm not talented enough to conjure up an actual Fergus falls police officer and file charges against myself, or hypnotize over 20 eyewitnesses.
you may not care, but the hundreds of other local voters who have seen it and commented about it do care!
it has even been suggested that I should take it to the state level. is that why my 1st court appointed public defender wanted me to give up all the copies and then lost all of them that I gave up?
now with youtube, who knows how many copies are floating around?
hmm? maybe the lesson here is that our police should just do their job and enforce the law?
no need to fabricate crimes?
and yes I have heard about police beating a former council member for drunk driving, but the way I heard it, they beat him bloody after they tazed him, and beat his shins until he couldn't walk.
that footage should be public.
this is still the USA and there are still some who remember what our ancestors fought and died for!
many of whom died fighting Nazi's like you!
your post alone proves the need for an investigation and suggests exactly what I've been suggesting!
you are part of an elite group who operate outside the law.
you condone police brutality, and praise president Liar all you like.
eventually some of your cronies will be convicted of crimes against humanity.
the Bush administration is already the worst in our history, I just hope He doesn't turn it into the last presidency this nation see's!
the Government owns all the mortgages? how is that different from communism? maybe instead of deregulating to pillage the economy, we should have rose up and thrown these pigs out!
there is already a war going on inside this country and your corrupt abusers of power are who have fired the first shots!
why should people whom you've already condemned and apparently can never attain redemption anyway, not rise up?
why should the poor continue to be robbed and blamed by the rich squandering the collective profits from the workers hours of labor?
why are you war supporters here instead of over fighting in the war?
if you support it so much!, why would you rather other people fight it?
once again I ask
"who would Jesus Bomb?"
I thought he said something about turning the other cheek?

"hundreds of other local voters who have seen it and commented about it do care!" - too bad they won't vote for you - 74 votes maximum.
But, assuming the worst case, if you were elected to the Council, I can see this playing out:
"Councilman metasonics, how do you vote?"
"Mr Republican, nazi, fascist-pig mayor, I protest - I have reviewed the tape of last week's meeting and I sense that you and the rest of your elitist, high-brow cronies were giving me the stink-eye. Now while Jesus says to turn the other cheek, I would rather say that I have a debilitating disease and all of you should feel sorry for me. I will now quote several verses from the Bible (as I am an ordained man of the cloth), then a few from the Koran, and read the last 44 pages of War & Peace. And please get that security officer out of the Council Chambers - he is buddies with the cops that busted me at my arcade, but it's OK to have a loaded gun in a business that caters to kids (come on, I provided arcade games, trading card games, and refreshments in an drug, alcohol, and smoke - free atmosphere - honest, I have videos to prove it), and my YouTube videos are part of my artistic expression, and yes, my music really is good. You darn Republicans have bankrupted our country and waged war against the innocent too damn long period! You funnel City tax dollars into your pockets and blame it on the poor! You rotten Republican pigs, the party of stolen lives and blood soaked stolen tax money needs to end! All of you are co-conspirators that bombed the World Trade Center (I know this for a fact), just as you are co-conspirators to keep the water pressure low in the Hilltop area. Oh excuse me, I need a cigarette, and then I'm going to snort the last little bit of the WTC dust that I saved from my pinball machine - that should give me enough energy to take on the ash borer conspiracy and the Tower Road Bridge mis-management where you all lined your pockets."

I figger it's kind o like stealing to take money for something you aren't making good on your promise of providing, like proper water pressure for the families in ward one living in the hilltop neighborhood.
I figger its not right to vote yourself pay raises from tax money when the taxpayers can't afford it and get no say about it until election time.

Metasonics,
Just an FYI, the more nasty comments you post on here, the less votes you are to get in the election.
I was standing behind you before, but not anymore. You seem to like to degrade people on here and think that 'your stories' are always better and always right.
Well, you just flushed one of your votes down the toilet.
The only thing I was stating, is that with all the bickering that has been going on back and fourth between you and a couple of other posters, it was getting to be really more like a soap opera than anything else. And just another FYI, I am a republican, can you respect that or are you going to degrade me for being one? Seems to me that you have no respect for anyone elses opinions or views. You just think your way is the 'best' way, well sorry to have to tell you this, but you give respect and you'll get respect. Otherwise if you treat people like dirt, you're going to be getting the same thing back at 'cha two fold!!!
Learn when to keep your mouth shut and when to open it.
Just my two cents.......

It's not my fault that you have alot of hate mail from other people that I don't even know. Sounds more like your problem and not mine.
And I'm not stooping to your level when it comes to being mean, I don't think Obama is a bad guy at all. I just am not voting for him this election. Can you respect that?

Just because I support the republicans doesn't mean I agree with people making death threats. That has nothing to do with being a republican. I know some democrates that make death threats too.
Quit blowing this all out of proportion Jamie.

blowing what out of proportion?
on the DJ forums I've even been threatened.
one was when a poster pointed out he has been following me on my motorcycle and would shut me up for good, and the other was when the same poster hinted at what a shame it would be if I were to get run over while walking my "rat dog" which I assume is a reference to my rat terrier.
also in case you havn't noticed people have been chanting to kil obama and calling him a terrorist at republican rallys lately. even McCain himself has been getting upset over the effectiveness of his own hate speech.
perhaps there are Dems that make death threat too? I don't know of any, but sure it could happen.
What I do know happened was that a Democratic party organizer was shot dead in his office earlier this summer in Mo.
aside from all these disgusting tactics the GOP are utilizing, the simple fact that McCain isn't offering anything different than the obviously failed Bush politics is reason enough to be opposed to his presidency.
