That Sarah Palin is some woman!

Published Thursday, September 18, 2008

That Sarah Palin is some woman! (I’ve heard people say.) She certainly seemed refreshingly pert and candid at first observation; but then I started to pay attention and compare her actions with her words.

I don’t object to her supporting — indeed eagerly soliciting — “earmarks” or special funds for local projects as mayor and governor and later claiming to oppose them; everybody in Washington does that (same ol’ same ol’).

What bothers me is that she tried to persuade the Juneau librarian to ban books and when unsuccessful, she tried to get the librarian fired! That kind of ignorant anti-first Amendment behavior is shameful in any public servant. Furthermore, I have it on excellent authority that she tried to fire her ex-brother-in-law, and when unsuccessful, she did fire the Public Safety Commissioner — a man who is cherished by countless women for his work supporting women’s shelters and other anti-violence-against-women measures. (Alaska has a major, seemingly intractable problem with alcohol and domestic abuse.)

Finally, her successful effort to replace science with Creationism in the Wasilla public schools is both ignorant and unlawful. On a global economic standard, children who grow up with an inferior education — one lacking a strong understanding of science — are doomed to low paying jobs for life. Every material advance in the world has been brought about by scientific achievement, from the lever and pulley to nanotechnology. It is these achievements that account for the great American life style. Creationism, which discredits science, can only turn kids off from scientific thinking, and people of that ilk condemn American kids’ futures to poverty because we will have to import foreign scientists and engineers just to try to keep abreast of the global Renaissance.

Shes some woman... Says she fights earmarks yet has asked for tons of money for her own state,

Sister gets a divorce, bitter and ugly, so she tells someone she wants him gone, when he doesn't do it, she fires him....

Says she will cooperate fully with the investigation of the matter, and after she gets picked as the VP all of a sudden her appointed AG for the state starts sweeping and cleaning house. Just to make sure nothing comes of the investigation until after the election. God knows once mccain and her are in they can say whoops, guess I shouldn't have done that, meanwhile we have to deal with basically another bushy for another 4 years....

Really people do you want this kind of person in office.... I don't.... but ya'll choice...

Thank you for your letter, Katie. One more thing which I think is worth mentioning, though some may not, she pushes abstinence only for sex education but her very own 17 year old daughter is pregnant. I do think that is significant. Abstinence only does not work.

I do want to sound like a liberal elitist. I am and am proud of it. I will never not be proud of my education and progressive thinking. Being educated and progressive is way better than being uneducated and ignorant. Too bad the uneducated and ignorant don't understand what it is to be educated and progressive. Palin is completely unqualified to be the VP. McCain knows that. The rest of the country should realize that. The only people that don't understand that are the uneducated and ignorant. Please people, pick up a book and read it once in a while. You don't need to go to college to get an education. You can read books instead. Books are not just for swatting flies.

By some of the standards mentioned above, I'm probably ignorant, as I only had one year in college, but I do consider myself a progressive thinker and a liberal, and even with my "limited" education (unless you count life experience, which I have plenty of), I agree that Sarah Palin as VP would be a mistake for all of the reasons mentioned above.

I agree with Katie Sasseville, but I am very offended at the tone of mgdbottled's comment.

I hadn't really decided who to vote for until McCain chose Sarah Palin as his running mate. There is no way I would want her in charge of this country, should something happen to Sen. McCain. Her ultra conservative ways would put us back in the dark ages.

Yes I do wonder how people that have real jobs can spend much of the day blogging, playing games, doing YouTube, and on the Internet, but still claim to have a job. The republican that owns the business you work at must be slipping. Katie are you envious of Palin or did you miss out on your ear-mark?

Ignorant is not a derogatory term. It simply means "uninformed". Everybody is ignorant in some way or another. Most folks are self educated either through life experience or by reading everything and anything that interests them. No need to achieve some college degree to be educated. As far as being offended, don't be. I'm just a blow hard who attempts to get the point across with as few words as possible. The elitist shining through. LOL

So Sarah the co-pilot on the straight talk express is taking a detour on the road to the truth. First she says she and the first dude will cooperate with authorities in the investigation of her attempts to fire her brother in law and his boss. Now she says they will not cooperate and will not honor subpoenas issued by a bipartisan committee. Sounds like a flip flop worthy of John McSame and a respect for the law reminiscent of the current vice president. Good start Sarah. More of the same from the change team?

Getting back to Katie Sasseville's comments - at this juncture, I'm an undecided voter. I'm in the information gathering stage. Since this blog is in regard to Sara Palin, I will say that I've done extensive research on her, including her voting history, Alaska's economic status before and since she's been in office, her personal beliefs as a woman, mother, lawmaker and US Citizen, as well as the issues that Katie Sasseville has brought forth. If I were to believe every shocking statement the media puts out there to get our attention, I would not consider myself well informed. If you don't belive democrats are responsible for the mess our economy is in right now here is a video for you. It is a video of Fannie Mae CEO explaining Fannie's "FAMILY" connection with Democrats. Specifically Barak Obama and the Congressional Black Caucus.

Enjoy, although I don't expect it to sway your option. Because most of you believe that just because someone can give a good speach and has charisma, that some how qualifies them for office. Enjoy!!!

One of those big mouthed Wall Street blowhards was on MSNBC the other day and was trying to blame the poor people in this country for this mess. The hosts pretty much shut him down and asked him to leave. Don't you even dare hint that the poor people are responsible for this mess. The republican congress was in charge of deregulation for twelve years and republican president for the past eight years. Deregulation is the problem. Phil Graham and John McCain are the two biggest supporters of deregulation. Phil Graham's deregulation lead to the Enron Collapse. The GOP that your daddy knew doesn't exist anymore. The Democratic party is now the fiscally responsible party and has been since 1992 when Clinton took office. If you're fiscally conservative, it'd behoove you to vote democrat this fall.

Thank you, Ms. Sasseville, for reaffirming my choice to VOTE FOR SARA PALIN and JOHN McCAIN!! Doing so is certainly consistent with my philosophy regarding the liberal left: Annoy a Liberal, Get a Job!

But wait, there are many more reasons to VOTE FOR SARAH & JOHN.

Regarding the 'book banning' fabrications, consider the following excerpt as taken from an article published in the September 3, 2008, edition of the New York Times: [In 1996, 'Ms. Palin suggested to the local paper, The Frontiersman, that the conversations about banning books were “rhetorical.”]

Concerning the onslaught against Sarah's daughter and her situation, I extend hearty applause that this brave, young woman has chosen to uphold her unborn child's right to life!! (How typical of the liberal media to overlook this moral stance.)

On another matter, the creationism/science hooch, let us draw our attention to the following Asociated Press article: 'Palin has not pushed creation science as governor

By DAN JOLING – Sep 3, 2008

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) — As a candidate for governor, Sarah Palin called for teaching creationism alongside evolution in public schools. But after Alaska voters elected her, Palin, now Republican John McCain's presidential running mate, kept her campaign pledge to not push the idea in the schools.'

And before you dismiss Sarah Palin's ability to lead this nation - should the need so arise, consider this:

Alaska is the first line of defense in our missile interceptor defense system. The 49th Missile Defense Battalion of the Alaska National Guard is the unit that protects the entire nation from ballistic missile attacks. It is on permanent active duty, unlike other Guard units.

As governor of Alaska , Palin is briefed on highly classified military issues, homeland security, and counterterrorism. Her exposure to classified material may rival even Biden's and certainly by far exceeds Obama's.

She's also the commander in chief of the Alaska State Defense Force (ASDF), a federally recognized militia incorporated into Homeland Security's counterterrorism plans.

Palin is privy to military and intelligence secrets that are vital to the entire country's defense. Given Alaska 's proximity to Russia , she may have security clearances we don't even know about.

According to the Washington Post, she first met with McCain in February, but nobody ever found out. This is a woman used to keeping secrets.

She can be entrusted with our national security, because she
already is.

I hope these facts would serve to calm - at least in some small way - the rabid furor raging over the qualifications and fair-mindedness of this fine woman, SARAH PALIN.

And one closing thought: While the media is abuzz with John McCain's wise choice of running mates please remind me, who was it Obama had selected? I don't seem to recall and, apparently, neither does the media recall . . . nor even care.

Cheers!

Choosing Sarah was a dynamic political choice....and the liberals are scrambling to badmouth her. But she is like the "energizer bunny". She has electrified this campaign and people are relating to her and loving her! I was not excited about McCain or Obama....but if McCain gets elected...Sarah will be getting the experience she will need to be the first woman president....and a Republican at that. Go figure! Ha!

mgdbottled, you are a very ignorant person! Deregulation did not cause this financial mess the country is in. Deregulation is simply removing government oversight. Tell me this, how many people / businesses that you know want to loose money??? NONE, the reason we are in this mess is because of the laws the Clinton and the other democrats created that basically guaranteed that Fannie and Freddie could not discriminate against you based on your income!!! How stupid is that!!! You tell a company they cannot refuse to give you a loan, even though you don't have the means to pay for it, and what did you expect to happen???

Posted by AmyO (anonymous) on September 22, 2008 at 9:05 a.m. (Suggest removal)

Lack of experience is unacceptable in the white house, but this Sarah Palin, lady is perfect for the office of VP. "Thanks, but no thanks to the money for the bridge to nowhere" but please give the town I'm mayor of $27 million in earmarks and, oh yeah, in my campaign for governor in 2006 I directly stated in a debate that I would fight for the earmark to build that very bridge. I'm going to "clean up" Washington, but I'm choosing to "not cooperate" with an investigation into my own possible unethical conduct. Abstinence only education works, except when it comes to my own family. Making comments about putting lipstick on a pig is okay, unless it's being said by someone on the other side of the isle. I'm "in touch" with the average American and know what they go through on a day to day basis, but I can't remember how many houses I own, is it seven or eight? "I've bought American [cars] literally all my life and I'm proud," but in reality, of the 13 cars that my family owns, two of them were made over seas. I'm also going to "clean up" Washington, but in order to do that I'm going to run one of the most dirty, dishonest campaigns this country has ever seen.

Now tell me, do I have your vote?

Joe said, "Concerning the onslaught against Sarah's daughter and her situation, I extend hearty applause that this brave, young woman has chosen to uphold her unborn child's right to life!!"

I too applaud her decision to have her baby. But the key word in the above statement is "chosen". Thankfully Sarah's daughter had the choice to make the best decision for her life. Sarah Palin told Charlie Gibson in her interview with him that she supports abortion when the mother's life is in danger but not in the case of rape or incest. That is a partial prochoice statement and partial prolife statement. How can one person determine who should have that right to decide and who can't? I know from a friend's tragic situation that there are Moms and Dads whose daughters have been victims of rape or incest who might have a different opionion about their right to choose abortion if so desired in that case.

I hate the thought of abortions but realistically know that there are just some situations that make it a very sad choice for some women.

I think that is so funny how liberal women just rip on her.
First off if you research her ex-brother-in -law he had run ins with law enforcement over spousal abuse and child abuse involving tasers. She stuck up for her family and others over the behavior of him. The family even had a restraining order on him.
An outside woman who wants to change politics as usual is ripped apart. If the same woman with the same experience was a liberal people would be going crazy for her!
I would think women would embrace her for who she is and what she has accomplished.
She is not perfect. Her family deals with the same issues as everyone else. Throwing it in her face just makes others look bad.I think that it makes her human and people can relate to her.
She was a great pick! That is why liberals rip her apart because they know she is a threat! People like her. She is smart, witty , tough, and good looking.
You talk about foreign policy. Like Obama has any experience?

Biden Said 'When the stock market crashed, Franklin Roosevelt got on the television and didn't just talk about the princes of greed,' Biden told Couric. 'He said, 'Look, here's what happened.' As Reason's Jesse Walker footnotes it: 'And if you owned an experimental TV set in 1929, you would have seen him. And you would have said to yourself, 'Who is that guy? What happened to President Hoover?''" (Ben Smith, "Biden Garbles Depression History," The Politico's "Ben Smith" Blog, 9/2 3/08)

the Palin's are fornacators in the eyes of the established churches!

1. Sarah Palin's first son, Track Palin, was born in April 1989

2. Sarah Palin was married on August 29, 1988. She eloped.

3. 38 weeks is the typical human pregnancy.

4. 38 weeks before her son's birthday, April 20, 1989, is July 28, 1988 - i.e., that would be the hypothetical day of conception.

5. If this data is correct, that would mean that Sarah Palin eloped four weeks after her son's conception.

speaking of religion and candidates, has anyone else made these connections?

the BIBLICAL Sarah was from Ur in BABYLON

also (Rev 17:1) "the great whore that sitteth upon many waters"
Palin received the nomination in Minnesota which is Dakota Indian for "sky tinted water." The state motto of Minnesota is "Land of 10,000 Lakes."

The area Wasilla is located was called "Benteh" by the Dena'ina Indians, meaning 'among the lakes'.

(Rev 17:2) "and the inhabitants of the earth have been made drunk with the wine of her fornication."

Oil (which is plentiful in Alaska) can be called the WINE that has made the inhabitants of the earth drunk. Palins husband is an oil man.

(Rev 17:3) "and I saw a woman sit upon a scarlet coloured beast, full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns."

Wasilla is derived from the Russian Vasili, from Basil, which is also where the word Basilisk comes from. A basilisk is the mythological King Serpent beast. Wasilla has seven letters and Sarah Palin has ten letters.

(Rev 17:5) "THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH."

The mentally challenged (indcluding Down's Syndrome) were called "Abominations of the Earth."

(Rev 17:6) "And I saw the woman drunken with the blood of the saints, and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus"

Palin addresses with gusto the troops who are going to war as well as those who have died in Iraq and Afganistan.

(Rev 17:15) The waters which thou sawest, where the whore sitteth, are peoples, and multitudes, and nations, and tongues.

The United States of America is a country of many peoples, multitudes, nations (ethnic groups), and tongues.

IS Sarah Palin the foretold WHORE OF BABYLON?

Who cares... all I know is that YOU Mr. Cooper are a certifiable WHACK JOB.

Posted by sugarmama (anonymous) on October 6, 2008 at 2:57 p.m. (Suggest removal)

To Metasonics: I am so proud of you….you can add! But your range of thought is a bit distorted. Apostle John the writer of Revelations would be horrified at how you have used the scriptures to justify your warped thinking.

The BIBLICAL Sarah was the mother of a nation and an ancestor of Jesus. She was a woman of faith, the first woman listed in the Hall of Faith in Hebrews 11:11, “It was by faith that even Sarah was able to have a child, though she was barren and was too old. She believed that God would keep his promise.”

In Revelations the destruction of Babylon is mentioned in great detail. The “great prostitute” called Babylon, represents the evil world power…..but to imply that Sarah Palin is the “whore of Babylon” represents someone who does not know his Bible at all. The great prostitute represents the seductiveness of the governmental system that uses immoral means to gain its own pleasure, prosperity, and advantage. In contrast to the prostitute, Christ’s bride, the church, is pure and obedient. The wicked city of Babylon contrasts with the heavenly city of Jerusalem.

Those who worship the beast (ultimately Satan’s way) will ultimately face God’s judgment. Our world values money, power, and pleasure over God’s leadership. To get what the world values, many people deny God and violate Christian principles. Thus they must drink of the wine of God’s anger. This is the prelude to the end times.

Sarah Palin, even as a teenager was not afraid to be different and to hold strong to her convictions. She signed yearbooks with Bible verses and held fast to the New Testament admonition from I Thessalonians 5: 16-18 that said, “Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances.” She became the leader of her high school’s Fellowship of Christian Athletes. She also was captain of the Wasilla High Basketball team and not only led on the basketball court but at the state tournament in Juneau, she was seen leading her team members to church, the morning following the tournament. This is the kind of leader our country needs in Washington D.C.

Sarah Palin did not ban any books at any school anywhere! She also does not believe in only teaching creationism in the schools.
And my dear Callie 25......I bet you heard my abstinence until marriage talk at the high school. You should come back and hear it again! Every year I have 4-5 students, especially boys report in to me that they are choosing to remain abstinent until marriage! IT DOES WORK!
I am sorry and sad you have not made that choice!
Blessings to all the readers on this website and please do not insult the integrity of people! You can disagree....but be nice about it!

Ms. Weers--I am sure I did NOT listen to your "talk" as I am probably as old as you...in case you don't watch the news, teenage pregnancy rates are up in this country in the last few years since schools have started implementing the "abstinence only" classes. I am proud to say that I taught my children about birth control as well as abstinence. It is human to be sexual and I say better to be prepared than to stick one's head in the sand.
