McCain’s straight talk is lacking honesty
Published Thursday, October 2, 2008
“If you tell the truth, you don’t need to remember anything.” Mark Twain
Straight Talk Express? No driver. Bush, McBush and “yes man” Coleman have taken Bill Clinton’s surplus and turned it over to our country’s richest one percent.
They removed the “if you can’t pay for it you don’t get it,” law and allowed the “legalized bribers,” lobbyists to make new laws.
After allowing the 9-11 attacks, they attacked and occupied Iraq behind more lies. Saddam and his sons are long gone; McBush slipped and exposed the real reason: the privatization of Iraq’s oil.
“We have been attacked and any who don’t agree with our retaliation are not patriotic.” (Hitler)
“When we trade our freedom for our safety, we shall have neither.” (Thomas Jefferson)

The Daily Journal is happy to host community conversations about news and life in Fergus Falls and the surrounding area. As hosts, we expect guests will show respect for each other. That means we don't threaten or defame each other, and we keep conversations free of personal attacks. Witty is great. Abusive is not. If you think a post violates these standards, don't escalate the situation. Instead, flag the comment to alert us. We'll take action if necessary. It's not hard. This should be a place where people want to read and contribute -- a place for spirited exchanges of opinion. So those who persist with racist, defamatory or abusive postings risk losing the privilege to post at all.Posted by anamerican (anonymous) on October 2, 2008 at 12:49 p.m. (Suggest removal)

Allowing 9/11? WOW, take a look at this piece, on camera, from others then "McBush" regarding their thoughts on Iraq.

McCain and Palin are both pathelogical liars. I can't believe I voted for that pathetic little wimp in the 2000 primaries.

Democrats calling Republicans liars! Is that a case of "The Pot Calling the Kettle Black" or what? They are in politics, lying is part of their job description!

I guess I have a problem with anyone who doesn't obey the 8th Commandment.
"Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor".
One of the most important "common law" rules out there.

I think you are mistaken, check your research!!!
It was Bill Clinton that repealed the Glass-Steagall Act, officially known as the Banking Act of 1933. A law from the Great Depression that many say would have protected us against the current mortgage crisis!
In fact he gave the pen he used to sign the repeal to billionaire Sanford I. Weill, who made Citigroup into the most powerful financial institution. Fittingly, Citigroup is a major contributor to guess which current Democratic Presidential candidate???
Also for those of you that believe that racism isn't alive and well in America, then why do polls show that something like over 97% of African American voters plan to vote for Obama? Racism isn't a one way street like many African Americans you like you to believe!!!

apinion- the president has no power to repeal an act of congress. he may have signed a bill the countered another bill, but at that time the republicans had the majority in congress so they would be equally at fault. in any case, there never was a bill that prohibited greedy salesmen from selling mortgages to people with a low fico scores, selling the mortgage to an investment bank, and cashing the commission check. instead of a bailout, they should find the people that cashed those checks and repo their yachts.
probably %97 of african americans make less than $250,000 a year. everyone that makes less than $250,000 a year would be a fool to vote republican.

Out with the old, in with the new. It is time for a new generation of leaders, the old way of governing is replete with waste, fraud, lies, corruption. It is the same way here in this little town, the same way all over America; the older folks did their time, they ran things for years and now it's time to step down and usher in a new generation of thinkers. We are a different America today, so very different. Why not update our governing bodies as well?
The lies and untruths that people are saying about Obama are just a testament to what a good man he is. If this is all they find, we should all, just like Obama does, blow it off and consider the source.
