Missed chances damaging
Published Tuesday, October 7, 2008
The recent decision by a film producer to pass on shooting a psychological thriller in the Fergus Falls Regional Treatment Center in favor of a Twin Cities location demonstrates the need for resolution on the idea of the international business college.
According to developers, the decision on whether the college on the RTC campus would be a go should be made by the first week in November. The council ought to hold the developers to that date. The deadline to use state funds to demolish some parts of the facility is at the end of the year.
Concern is that a film might tarnish the image of the RTC, and threaten other business opportunities, is understandable. However, if the business college falls through, the benefits Fergus Falls missed out on from using the campus for movies would be for naught.
If there is no closure on the business college in one month, then it is the duty of the council to open the facility up for any and all opportunities. Our community just can’t afford to miss such chances.

The Daily Journal is happy to host community conversations about news and life in Fergus Falls and the surrounding area. As hosts, we expect guests will show respect for each other. That means we don't threaten or defame each other, and we keep conversations free of personal attacks. Witty is great. Abusive is not. If you think a post violates these standards, don't escalate the situation. Instead, flag the comment to alert us. We'll take action if necessary. It's not hard. This should be a place where people want to read and contribute -- a place for spirited exchanges of opinion. So those who persist with racist, defamatory or abusive postings risk losing the privilege to post at all.Posted by notcominghome (anonymous) on October 7, 2008 at 1:30 p.m. (Suggest removal)
Guess the economy in Fergus is just fine. No new funds needed!

Very good ... we need an answer to this yes or no so we can go on.

This paper is run by total idiots. Maybe this editorial board should look across the desk and ask the question. Why don't we do a article and interview the group ourselves. I believe that is your job, to provide the facts. Pick up the phone and ask the right questions and you will find the project is moving along.
I hope the few people that subscribe to this rag ask themselves the same question. Why do I subscribe to this piece of **** paper when they don't do any reporting.

its funny how they keep putting this article at the top and putting new stories below. They have never had their facts straight, why do they keep bashing this deal. what is the journals motive?

The reason the paper bashes the college is because the project is lead by the owner of The Midweek which is a competitor of theirs. They would rather see Rick fail than to see a huge economic benefit to the community of Fergus Falls.

That actually wouldn't surprise me. The people that put out a paper as sh*ty as the journal probably dont have much going on up top. I think its about time they actually maybe look into what a COLLEGE is and write an article about that.
