Schultz leads Hillcrest with career night over Lincoln-Ivanhoe

Published Saturday, October 11, 2008

Jared Schultz had an unbelievable performance Friday night, carrying the Comets to a big win over Lincoln High-Invanhoe 61-12. The Comets rushed for 447 yards and passed for 169 yards for a total of 616.

“Lincoln put nine guys in the box so once we got by their linebackers there was a lot of space,” said Head Coach Charlie Brue.

The Senior Comet QB rushed nine times for 306 yards and five touchdowns for a 34-yard average per carry. Schultz had touchdown runs of 84, 83, 77, 29 and 9 yards. He also completed seven passes on 12 attempts for 169 yards and two touchdowns.

Ethan Wentzel caught one touchdown pass of 64 yards and Andrew Hohncke grabbed a 19-yarder. Hohncke kicked 7-9 extra points attempts.

Zach Taylor had a good night as well, contributing 118 rushing yards and a touchdown on 15 attempts. Wil Twedt score on a six yard run.

“Our offensive line was beating their guys all night,” Schultz said. “So all I had to do was get around the corner and there was a lot of green in front of me.”

Hillcrest will close out the regular season at home on Wednesday against Hancock.
