A Fergus Falls man has been sentenced to four years in prison for his role in a July 2007 drunken driving crash that killed his passenger.
Charles Lee Keller, 42, pleaded guilty to criminal vehicular homicide in Otter Tail County District Court.
Keller was driving on an Otter Tail County road near Deer Lake in June 2007 when he lost control of his vehicle and it hit a tree and caught fire.
Jana Lee Dokkebakken of Fergus Falls, who was 41 at the time, was killed in the crash. Keller was injured in the crash, as were two other passengers, Amber A. Laforge, who was 19 at the time and Healther L. Formo, who was 29. Both women were from Fergus Falls.
Keller was driving a sports utility vehicle south on County Highway 83 when he ran off the road, striking a tree, at which time the SUV caught fire. Bystanders extinguished the fire.
Court files show Keller had a blood-alcohol content of 0.19 about an hour after the crash, more than twice the legal limit of .08.
