Weather results in accidents
Published Monday, October 27, 2008
The Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Office received several reports of vehicle accidents Sunday after winter weather hit the region.
Those accidents included a rollover on State Highway 59 north of Pelican Rapids and vehicles in ditches along County Highway 1 and State Highway 210. Information provided by the sheriff’s office Monday suggested none of the accidents resulted in life-threatening injuries.
The Fergus Falls Police Department also received reports of several minor accidents. Someone damaged the fencing surrounding Fergus Falls Middle School on Randolph Avenue after losing control of his vehicle, and another person damaged his bumper after going into a ditch at Pebble Lake Road and Shoreview Drive.
Police also received calls regarding debris in city streets, including a large branch blocking traffic at Spruce and Broadway.

The Daily Journal is happy to host community conversations about news and life in Fergus Falls and the surrounding area. As hosts, we expect guests will show respect for each other. That means we don't threaten or defame each other, and we keep conversations free of personal attacks. Witty is great. Abusive is not. If you think a post violates these standards, don't escalate the situation. Instead, flag the comment to alert us. We'll take action if necessary. It's not hard. This should be a place where people want to read and contribute -- a place for spirited exchanges of opinion. So those who persist with racist, defamatory or abusive postings risk losing the privilege to post at all.Posted by luvmyboys (anonymous) on October 27, 2008 at 12:47 p.m. (Suggest removal)
What does it take for people to realize that when it's snowing and blowing you need to SLOW down???
We came back from a hunting trip in South Dakota and counted ELEVEN cars in the ditch.
I even heard one person at a gas station say "nahhh...it's the first snow of the winter. The ground is too warm to be slippery yet". HUH?!?!?
SNOW = SLOW

I had one idiot pass me yesterday, in slush, on a curve. He fishtailed like crazy and I'm surprised he recovered. I was kinda hoping he would have gone in the ditch and I would have waved as I drove by, laughing. SNOW = SLOW

Time to remember our "winter driving habits". Snow=Slow, and watch your "step" for even the smallest patch of ice!!

Whomever this "Skip_Mallas_Campaign_HeadQuart" is, they possess the jumbled and incoherent mindset of a person who has huffed one too many cans of Redi-Whip. Too bad the RTC is closed for business.

Insurance companies need to hold these idiots responsible for "dumb driving" accidents. I saw a mother, on her cellphone, at the same time reaching back to give something to a crying baby, make a psuedo stop at an intersection; if I hadn't been on my toes she would of crashed right into me due to the slick intersection....... These idiots raise all of our premiums.....
