Rockets advance in playoffs
Take one back against Parkers, will play B-E Thursday
Published Wednesday, October 29, 2008
The Underwood volleyball team exacted a little revenge Tuesday night with a 3-1 win over a solid Parkers Prairie team (25-23, 14-25, 25-22, 25-16) to advance in the Section 6A playoffs. The loss was the Panthers’ second of the season.
“Our girls felt like this was a revenge match,” said Rocket coach Diane Ross. “They beat us 3-2 earlier this season after we had won the first two games, so we felt like we could play with them.”
Ann Bjorklund had a great night at the net, putting down 11 kills and seven ace blocks. Alex Floersch had 26 digs and 32 of 33 serve receives. Ariana Odegard had 23 assists, 18 digs and served 21 of 21 with four aces.
Before the game, coach Ross said the key to beating the Panthers would be to stop Sari Noga, which proved to be the case.
“Noga was unstoppable in game two, but we were able to regroup and come back strong.”
The Rockets upped their record to 21-8 with the win and advanced to play Brandon-Evansville at 7 p.m. on Thursday at UM-Morris in the 6A semi-finals in what could be called another revenge match.
“The Chargers have beaten us twice this year.” Ross said. “Once in four games and the last time in five.”

Good news: Rockets beat Brandon Evansville in 3 games to advance to Section Title Game. Bad News: they have to play Ada Borup now....
