Nothing but sour grapes from County GOP chair
Published Friday, November 21, 2008
The letter from Otter Tail County Republican Chair Brent Frazier, was a shoddy attempt to taint the election process in Minnesota, when things are not going as well as he wishes for his candidate of choice in the U.S. Senate race.
The accusation that Al Franken "attempts to steal this election" is unfounded, and inflammatory. Any disdain toward Franken should be based on issues, stances and beliefs, not frustration with the non partisan election process, which applies to all candidates.
Coincidentally, Mr. Frazier writes that "when an election is called to a recount, every detail for accuracy is placed under a microscope for viewing by the voter". Exactly. What more is expected?
Mr. Frazier, when you wrote your letter the recount had not yet begun. The recount is only set to start on Nov. 19. The panel overseeing this recount merits our confidence, unless evidence shows otherwise.
After all, the panel consists of two judges who were appointed to their position by Republican Gov. Plewenty, one of whom is his former law firm partner. In addition, one other judge is a Ventura appointee, and the fourth was elected as a non partisan candidate. These judges, along with the Secretary of State, determine the ultimate results of the recount.
So rather than resort to partisan politics and personal attacks, let us now allow for the detailed, painstaking process for the recount of over 2.4 million ballots.

The Daily Journal is happy to host community conversations about news and life in Fergus Falls and the surrounding area. As hosts, we expect guests will show respect for each other. That means we don't threaten or defame each other, and we keep conversations free of personal attacks. Witty is great. Abusive is not. If you think a post violates these standards, don't escalate the situation. Instead, flag the comment to alert us. We'll take action if necessary. It's not hard. This should be a place where people want to read and contribute -- a place for spirited exchanges of opinion. So those who persist with racist, defamatory or abusive postings risk losing the privilege to post at all.Posted by betterworld (anonymous) on November 22, 2008 at 4:11 a.m. (Suggest removal)
Too bad Frazier has to be such sour grapes. He is cold and calculating in his comments. This is one of the reasons the GOP lost big this year; people are just sick of standard GOP cynicism and hatefullness and pulling out all stops to elicit fear in people.
Jerry; your comments are just childish banter. Honestly. I hope you don't have children or grandchildren that look up to you as their role model.

The election is OVER!!! The recount is to duplicate election day with a hand count, and verify the election ballots cast on Nov. 4. The sour grapes are from those who lost and think they are still voting!
