I would rebuttal and say that lawyers are the people who are best suited to be in our legislature not because they are "the smartest and most influential" or because they "know how to interpret the laws," but because their job is to legislate, or to "make" laws. Who could write laws better than the people who have spent years studying law. The point of view expressed in this letter is like suggesting that there should be more variety in type of people who write novels. Even if the novel happens to be about a doctor's medical practice, does that mean that a doctor would be a good person to write the novel? No. The novelist should write the novel and perhaps consult with someone who is knowledgeable about the practice of medicine. Sorry, but I don't think I would want (or vote for) a teacher or a plumber or a housewife to represent me in our legislature unless they had some experience with understanding or crafting clear and concise laws or regulations of some sort. The language containing in legal documents is that way for a reason and it's so that people can't find ways around it when they're not supposed to and can when they are.

Very well thought out and well reasoned argument Mr. Reynolds. "If you don't like it, then move. People who are in favor of this law should be mentally evaluated and don't have a brain." Wow. Hard to argue with that. And, Mel, "Some in America seem to want to ruin the freedoms we have with rules that will ruin it." Again, are you guys just coming up with this stuff on your own or is someone helping you?

I wonder how in the heck the Daily Journal "policy" (which we all know is set in stone somewhere) lets them allow comments on a letter to editor such as this, but prohibits them from allowing comments on stories such as the initial story about Mr. OJ being in the area and the op-ed published my Mr. Hage justifying him doing the initial story? Hmmm...

Perhaps the DJ was reporting on OJ to notify people to stay away from Thumper Pond for a few days. Would it have been "news worthy" then? They report on convicted sex offenders who are released into the community. What's wrong with reporting on an "acquitted" double murderer who will be hanging around the community for awhile?

I don't understand what happened? Who was she playing tug-of-war with? A body builder? Was there a group of people involved? It seems strange that someone could have four fingers severed in a typical game of tug-of-war. Is there something I'm missing?

Alright, Jamie. I'll leave you be as this seems to have brought up a whole array of underlying issues for you. However, in response to your inquiry in a recently deleted thread regarding your band...
"so where could I get a listen?" - Jamie Cooper
If I wanted your (or anyone else’s) feedback on my music, I'd point you to a location where you could listen to it and offer your opinion. However, I'm perfectly comfortable with the fact that I enjoy playing music and I don't need other people to validate that for me. I love playing music. That’s all I need to know. I guess I figure as long as people continue to ask me to play at places and continue to pay me the $150 per hour that I got last night to do so, I must be doing something right. Right? ; )
"so you're judging whether or not their opinions are worth taking seriously?" - Jamie Cooper
Sure I do. But even when I determine that they are not (maybe when some guy comes up to me and starts talking about his high score on guitar hero), I still say "Well, thanks for hanging around and listening to my music and have a great night." You seem to have this need to insult and "discredit" anyone who doesn't praise you and your "art." One has to wonder why.
"I don't remember asking for your songwriting advice, or anything else, for that matter." – Jamie Cooper
Really? So you don’t remember posting this…

You probablly should listen to my song Preacherman first”
And you don’t remember posting this…
“oh yeah vote for the METASONICS at http://warpedtour.battleofthebands.com/t.........
for the VANS WARPED tour also”
Well, in that case I think I’m about done with this. I wish you all the best in the competition, Jamie, and hope that every one of your fans turns out in support of the METASONICS. You’ll have to let us know how it turns out. I’ll keep an eye out for your upcoming shows. Best of Luck!

"I don't like to paraphrase or twist other peoples words..." Hmm? Is that why you continue to say things like... "what's the point of explaining art to a person that thinks Tim Mahoney would go over at the Vans warped tour?"
The only thing I ever said about Tim Mahoney was "I see Tim Mahoney has a song on their too, "Piece of you." That's pretty good. Not really my style of music though." It had nothing to do with Tim Mahoney being on the warped tour. That's just plain silly.

Well, in that case I think I’m about done with this. Seems like the alter egos are begining to come out in force again anyway. I wish you all the best in the competition, Jamie, and hope that every one of your many fans turns out in support of the METASONICS. You’ll have to let us know how it turns out. So you're saying that people who don't like your music don't enjoy life. Wow. That's a pretty broad brush you're painting with there, Jamie.
You know, I'm a musician myself. I'm actually playing a little gig tonight. And if people I play my music for like it, great. If they don't, that's fine too. Everyone has different tastes in music, as in all things. If someone has something to say about my music, I take it into consideration. If they seem like they know what they're talking about and I think their advice might benefit my music, I might change something. If not, I just say thanks for the input and listening to my music. The reason I brought up the story about my friend earlier is because your posts so far have reminded me a lot of the guy he used to play music with. Big into myspace (both band and "solo project" pages), no humility when it comes to talking about how great their music was and very quick to cite how many fans they had and how much they love their music, yet any time someone voiced their opinion criticizing their music he automatically started looking for some way to find something wrong with the person offering their opinion. I guess what I'm saying is, being a musician is a lot like being a public figure of any type. If you're going to put yourself out their for scrutiny, you should really be ready to be scrutinized. If you are not, then, well, I'd never dispute that you have the right to play your music, but as far as putting it out there for the public to listen to? I'd stay away from that. I'll definitely try to get to one of your upcoming shows though. I've heard plenty of bands that I didn't care for until I saw them live. Ya never know, right? : )

Mystery Science Theater 2000, huh. Cool. I don't think that was ever an actual show, but cool nonetheless.
It was a deep song of hatred? For some reason I just don't get that from the lyrics you posted. It kind of just sounds like gibberish. What kind of Nazi is Ghandi?
Perhaps you could also enlighten us with the type of "inner workings" the song entitled "I want to kill everybody" posted by you on YouTube reveals. That one similarly seems to be a little too deep for my primitive abilities of comprehension. Thanks!

Ha. Yeah, I kind of suspected that too, but didn't actually check out the article. Good call. : )
