Two quick comments. First, why does Saddam Hussein using WMDs on his own people threaten OUR national security? Second, why do we have the right to decide how other countries are governed?

Ok, I lied. Three things. Three, if we really have liberated a country from an international menace, why are we still there and why is violence increasing?

Unfortunately, there is no "world court of justice" and the US isn't a member of the International Criminal Court.

Didn't President Clinton authorize snatches of Bin Laden and missle attacks on Al Qaeda training camps?

I'm curious... why, in coming to his conclusion that violence is down in Iraq, did he use statistics that didn't include Sunnis killed by Sunnis, Shiites killed by Shiites, and people shot in the head?

I'm not stating an opinion on the General, but I'm concerned what his motivations were in using incomplete information in forming his opinion.

Just pointing out the mis-quote, Jerry. I'd do that for anyone who was so poorly mis-quoted, regardless of their political affiliation.

On Obama doesn’t get global terrorism

Obama's actual quote was:

"If we have actionable intelligence on al Qaeda operatives, including [Osama] bin Laden, and President Musharraf cannot act, then we should," Obama said. "That's just common sense."

No where in that statement is anything even remotely related to "if we pull out of Iraq, we'll bomb Pakistan."

A bit melodramatic, aren't we?

I very much believe that television, books, and music don't make people do things they already don't have a propensity to do.

However, for the sake of argument, let's say that it can. Using the Columbine example, let's say that those individuals would have never done what they had done if not for watching television. Is that a reason to ban certain television programming altogether? Because two people, out of however many million live in this country committed a school shooting?

Now, take your Harry Potter example. I would ask if you've ever actually read a Harry Potter book, but that question seems to have answered itself. If you had, it would be painfully obvious to you that Harry possesses everything you call "American values:" honesty, truthfulness, gentleness, patience, kindness, mercy, love, hope, and faith. Harry Potter is, at its core, a simple good vs. evil story where the protagonist happens to be a wizard. I can't fathom for a moment how this series contributes to violence in America or somehow deteriorates the moral fiber of our children. Care to elaborate?

I'm confused. You don't want government-sponsored health care to cover contraceptives (which are generally very expensive), but also don't understand how unwanted pregnancies can possibly happen. So, what you're arguing is that those who don't have insurance or can't afford to pay full retail for contraception are somehow irresponsible or self-centered? Let me guess - these women are irresponsible for not remaining chaste until marriage like your God wants?

Or maybe not just miscarriages - maybe any woman who has taken birth control, the morning after pill, or even considered having an abortion, even if only for a minute.
