This is horrible for the employees of Banner. And I knock on wood that this type of thing doesn't happen to my employer. That being as it may, you shouldn't begin planning for life without your long time job AFTER they tell you that you're going to be laid off. This should start well before that happens.

A friend of mine who ran for senate a few years ago said that Americans need more foresight. Why don't we plan for things like this? Why don't we save more, why don't we continue to educate ourselves?

Those families that have a plan in place for an event such as this will be able to handle this far better than those who do not. We all like to think (or not) that life will go on and we can mindlessly wake, work, spend and sleep, but that's not the case.

Let's see if Obama makes good on his promise to "spread the wealth"!

fuzzybunny - To answer your question; "Can our city council be deluded to the extent of thinking that people will actually read the closing credits on a low budget "B" film." Yes they can be deluded in such a manner. They've proven it time and time again. What about the delusion that the city needed a bunch of new trash cans? Well that wasn't enough delusion for them because they got more delusional when they decided to purchase a $300K garbage truck that didn't work to pick them all up. Talk about delusion!

Sweet... My comment was removed because I said The President of the CDG, Rick Anderson should have to pony up $10K "just in case" the college plan doesn't pan out. After all, Dav Kaufman was willing to pay $10K for something that he believes in, Rick Anderson should do the same.

I suppose my comment was removed because I happened mentioned a business that Rick Anderson owns (a weekly advertising and clasifieds piece that is typically delivered on Saturdays), that happens to be located near the Stop N Go east....

Ummm...I don't think the story said that the dirty underwear were in a drawer. It says the drawers "looked to have been rifled through", although I'm not sure if that means the dirty drawers, or the drawers where the drawers are kept. I picked that up and I just scanned the article. Did you even read it?

Perhaps they should have tried video surveilance after the first incident occurred?

David Stoddard is a hero for putting so much effort into the Arts and helping to keep it going. I attended the Vaudeville show last winter and was amazed by the laidback atmosphere, and entertaining performances. I can't wait till the next one. Thank you David, and everyone else that helps keep this going!

I wonder if the $175,000.00 in combined operating losses between the water, sewer, and garbage operations include the $87,000.00 the city spent on unusable plastic trash cans that are sitting idle in one of their storage yards. Now there's a good example of ACTUALLY passing the buck!!!

http://www.fergusfallsjournal.com/news/2...

I wonder why there wasn't a follow up to that story? Did Mcneilus make good not to charge the city a penny of the $200,000.00 dollars that it spent on the truck that was incompatible with the bins? When the truck was returned to the company were there any hidden costs? Also what is the status of the plastic bins today? Are they going to be paid for with this rate increase?

The people of Fergus want to know...or do they?

Let's hope, however, the city doesn't make as many mistakes as they did last year, and we can all avoid taking one in the rear!
