You can't win in the NFL with a QB completion rate well under 50%. You REALLY can't win if the QB's completion rate of passes 20 yards or more is 10%. Obviously the other team knows this stat, and if the QB only completes one pass every 10 attempts of 20 yards then I would stack everyone on the line too. Just think where Chilly's KA offense would be without AP and Chester. Everyone in the country can see that the Vikings will NOT win a super bowl with TJack and this offensive scheme. I gotta quit thinking about them. It just frustrates me to no end.

I am not enjoying the Olympics as much as I have in the past either. Can't stand Collinsworth, never did like Costas, and Bella (although he has hit the nail on the head many times) can ramble on and it can be hard to understand him. His wife Martha is even harder to listen to.
My biggest problem with the Olympics is the judging. Now tell me, how can that Chinese girl do that vault and land on her knees and still win the gold medal? Gold means the best, if I'm not mistaken, and it was more than obvious that her vault was not the best. Then they have this new scoring system that gives them points immediately for the difficulty of their routine. Well, if some of those "kids" have an immediate low point routine, what incentive do they have? Here again, a low start point great routine can still be trumped by the high start point land-on-your-knees routine. Ack.
Judging has been just plain messed up for years. I am always amazed when a person finishes a routine and the judges flash; 8.0,8.0,7.5,8.5....then one judge throws out the 5.5....where did that come from? What was that judge watching?
Then to see Nastia lose gold by technicality on a routine that I thought she did better at. That really sucked.
Anyway, I do like watching how those kids can do those routines on the bars and balance beams and stuff. They all have so much talent.
The Twins have been so much fun to watch lately other than the egg they laid 2 nights ago in the 3-2 loss. It's so neat to see the confidence ooze out of Mauer and Morneau (and others). They always just look like "this guy isn't going to get me" when they're at the plate. Morneau has hit some balls so hard lately that next year that MLB might require infielders to wear helmets when he bats. Unbelievable.

The stripes on a smallmouth bass run vertical, while a largemouth bass has one large stripe running horizontally.
Keep it catch and release! It took a long time to sustain these fish once again in Clitherall Lake.

Also, don't overlook the stadium implications if Favre comes to MN to play. Let's say he plays here for two years and the Vikes go 24-8 over the next two seasons. The Vikes get massive national attention and Favre, with his "aura" and downright ability to stir the pot and get people to do what he wants, drops a bunch of "you know, I LOVE playing in MN but they really need a new stadium"s and walla, funding magically appears. Money underlies everything.
As far as players go, TJack is much more athletic obviously. What it boils down to is which guy do you want on the field with 2 minutes to go. Everyone within earshot will say Favre. Even if he doesn't win the game, he has the ability to. Can't say that about TJack quite yet.
I see Huskerman going down this road, which I also believe will happen. JD Booty will be the Vikes QB in a few years.
Okay, I've got the first overall pick in my fantasy football draft. Who should I take? Tomlinson or Peterson?

I watched the Twins game last night and thoroughly enjoyed it. I really like the new camera angle they put in. It gives you a better sense of where pitches are. I could not believe how close to the plate Konerko stands. Cripes, he's halfway over the plate! I'm surprised more guys don't clunk him. The way he stands in there is almost suicidal. Anyway, he looked terrible at the plate last night and I wasn't sad to see it.
I agree that Span looks like the real deal, and perhaps Delmon might be the one on the outside looking in. He sure looks clueless a lot.
On A nice win

Okay, now to add more to the #4 saga.
I just read in Judd Zulgad's blog in the Strib:
The Green Bay Press Gazette has a story today that refutes the Milwaukee report. “Contrary to several well publicized media reports, two sources — one in the NFL, another close to Favre — said Favre does not have a cell phone issued by the Packers.”
Saga to be continued.......

Tom, I see you're on my same bandwagon that Favre either got hit in the head too many times, or he may really have a brick for a brain.
To steal a writing segment style from my close personal friend Sid Hartman:
Memo to Brett Favre: You signed a $110 million contract and played most of it out (2 years remaining). One would think you have some money lying around somewhere. There are great personal cell phone plans out there nowadays that even YOU could afford, so why didn't you go out there and buy one of these instead of using a company phone?
Now that, my friends, does not take a "Rocket" scientist (pardon the pun) to figure out.
Anyways, that was fun to write. I agree with Huskerman that 1) I guess I'd like to see ol' brickhead in purple for a couple of years, if for nothing else but the intimidation factor and 2) It should give TJack a little more motivation.
Twins....long season, young guys, distractions, never have "been there" before. Give 'em another year or two. I sure enjoy watching them, but the elementary mistakes have to go. Deep down what they're really conspiring to do is make a true run for the title in 2010 when their new stadium opens. Then "Jason" Morneau, Joe and Joe will be household names....even to the dipsticks who announce Home Run Derbies on ESPN. The stadium will make billions of dollars and then the Pohlads will have lots of $ to re-sign all these guys. :) I better quit. Have a great one.

Yes, it has been one heck of a week for the folks who can't keep their mouths shut. I'm pretty sure that people who are in high profile positions, such as pro athletes, were taught/told that if something could....COULD cause a controversy that you say, then keep your mouth shut. Brett must be suffering brain problems from all of the hits he has taken, or maybe he really does have a brick for a brain, or maybe he just plain old is not that smart. He is either inadvertently or advertently throwing his friends under the bus and creating some really tough stuff for a franchise that has done nothing but cater to him, make him rich, named streets after him, are going to retire his jersey, etc. What an idiot.
No, Favre isn't the only idiot...we see that every day. The real idiots in "real life" which is where all of us normal middle-class people play, are the idiots that open their big mouths with "worries" when oil finally starts to stabilize or come down. But, that's a whole different topic.
The bottom line is, if something you say could (again key word could) cause a stink, then just don't say it.
You're right about the Twins and Liriano. He's got plenty of years to come play with the big boys. Unless things go sour real soon, don't rock the boat. Our boys of summer are playing admirably right now. The second half starts tonight! Let's play ball!

Good grief, I meant JD Drew. Thanks for the correction.
On another note, Huskerman who won the Wendell tourney? I haven't heard. Tom, I was there and thought I'd run into you somewhere but it didn't happen.

Tom, I felt the exact same emotions as you did during that Vikings game on Monday night. The competetive (and die-hard) half of me wanted the Vikes to win. The other half of me wanted the Vikes to lose it so at least the possibility of Chilli being gone would present itself. Let's all face it. The Vikings will lose a lot more games this year, and all that beating bad teams is doing is prolonging getting rid of Chilli and his staff. On Monday night I just had the feeling of "lose now and get it overwith so we can at least try to salvage the season". All a person has to do to see how pathetic the Vikings offense is, is to watch some other games. During the Vikes game I was switching back and forth to the baseball game, and watched that poor sucker from the Angels botch a suicide squeeze attempt. Up until the botch, I had no desire to switch back to that football game.
Twins-you're right on the money again. Everyone in the world knows we need a 3B and next spring there will be a "new" starting shortstop and by the end of the season Punto will be there.
Wild-I should be more excited about the Wild season, but I can't be. They let go the heart and soul of this team (Rolston) and if you read the roster in the paper it seems like over half their team is new. Then, to top it off, there is the Gaborik distraction. I'd be willing to trade him for 2 or 3 solid, healthy players and look to be a contender in 2 years. With all the new blood, I think they're a borderline playoff team at best. The pitiful part about that is they won the division last year. Hopefully, they prove me wrong.
On The Vikings, do I care?
