Hey Doc, lighten up a smidge, don't take it so personal. Mr. Hintgen contacted me way before Ike made land fall, and wanted to know if I would be willing to keep the journal posted. It was at this time, the National Hurricane Center, and the local broadcats, were stating that it looked as though Ike was going to make land fall a little further south than it actually did.
To give you an idea of the size of Ike, even though we were this far in, they were still predicting 60-75 mph winds, with gusts higher for atleast 24 hr.s, and torrential rains, flash flooding and flooding. Electricity would be out for up to two-hree weeks.
Actually sir, the storm did not turn until the very last minute, and we were right on the very edge. Approximately the same distance from Fergus Falls to the Twin Cities.
Mr. Hintgen and the Journal were looking for a good story for its readers. It didn't devolop here, but only one county over it sure did.
Trust me sir, when I say I can hoenestly say, I know about Blizzards, and the like. I can also say, that there are many people , who may not actually live in Fergus Falls, anymore, but we do keep abreast of what happens in Fergus Falls. Why, because it is a part of who we are; Fergus Falls, is because many families worked hard to do their part,
; the best they knew how, to ensure Fergus Falls is there.
I think it is a very wonderful gesture by the community Newspaper, to try and report on news and people from Fergus Falls, outside the area. Thomas R. Hagen,RN

one last comment. If the chinese don't come to Fergu Falls, then what are you going to do with all that water service going to be put in.If I understand it correctly, demolition must start pretty soon.. How much is this water project going cost, as noted in a previous article, " the city will cover the cost of water main work initially, and seek reimbursement later, Edwards said." who are they planning to get the reimbursement from, the CDG perhaps? Just thought I'd ask.

IT is sad to see Fergus Falls, respond to a city council decision here, greetfor the paper though. It is easier to sit and read, instead of actually being at the Council meeting your self. I think if Hundreds showed up to the council meeting for either a pro or a con, the meeting would still be going on.For the youngster in the community, please don't forget, that the "older people," of Fergus Falls, were the youngsters in their day, and wanted what you want. People were searching to "find them selves," only to find, that evry one cares, but very very few are in a position to really help one out. It is up to you to keep the Wolf away from your back door, as they are too busy keeping to wolf away from theirs. This applies to most us young or old.Thank God for the freedom one has in America, and yes, Fergus Falls.
By your leave please, What do you suppose happens to people in China, who voice any negative comments, toward the Party?
Do you think the Party would let you leave Ferfus Falls, if it wasn't in their best interests to do so? Do any of you think for one moment the chinese are oblivious to what is going on in Feregus Falls. Our own Pentagon has difficulty keeping out Party hackers, from getting into sesative ares. some time we win, and some times we lose.Poor little Fergus Falls, well how much money do you suppose it would take to control most of Fergus Falls, if you will.
Once you speak of Cina, you speak also of the United Staes of Ameria. Hey just as with life, one learns swiftly, family influence, stops, and society steps in. Where China choses to spend it's money, for what ever reason, America pays attention.
I really don't think the Chinese Party is spooked off that easily. The whole of our government doesn't seem to have much influence on them. Hey but if a few ghosts could do it, in he name of humanity, let us give it a try. I better quit here, be kind, and I need to go and talk to the Pentagon, new secret weapon may be at hand.
One more thing, you name is probably being added as we speak, and of course you knew that.

Hero's aren't born every day, and Mr. Aune is to be commended for his bravery and unhearlded convictions. His unselfishness, to do what he thought was right, is outstanding. Thomas R. Hagen

Yeah, a sad ending. I could never understand any one calling themselves a hunter, especially one who needs bait in the first place. To me hunting is all about one's own ability to hunt. Hey, if you weren't a good hunter, then guess what? Yep, you got it, you better learn to find food another way. My Dad, my Grandpa, and those before them, took pride in actually hunting, as a means of putting food on the table. Unlike today, I doubt if any one is actually starving in the area, with the resources of today; and if they were, they sure wouldn't have the money to run down to the local sporting goods store and buy a license, ammo, and perhaps bait, let alone the vehicle and gas, etc. to go to some place "real good". No I tend to think it has basically come down to wanting to kill something. perhaps a primitive drive as yet, in a modern society. Best stop here.

Now that is what I call and "Old Time sports" article--Very Enjoyable--thanks
By the way, I hope you haven't forgotten to clothes pin a baseball card on the back fender to sound like a motor, when the spokes catch it. While cruising around your town, your friends will wish they had one now.

Wonderful article, about one of the many strengths of Ferus Falls. Obviously over the years a great many people assisted in helping this dream come true, and assist it to continue for generations. My mother passed on to me a favorite of hers, and has become a staple for me.
This staple in our house is a little cook book, with a collection of great recipes, collected by the "Claire Ann Shover Nursery School." It is called, "BE OUR GUEST."
In this wonderful collection of recipes, you will note the many people that donated their favorite's. These are people who in their own way have helped build so many strencths of Fergus Falls. Thus, this school represents the essence of giving, and what a good neighbor does.
Just a few names, not all obviously,so forgive me if I leave a few out.
