The mentality these days is a far cry from the World War II era when people on the home front gladly paid higher taxes to support the troops overseas, purchased war bonds and took part in food, clothing and gasoline rations. When the troops came home they lived modestly, worked hard, raised families and gave back to their communities. Dwight Eisenhower warned about greedy people getting rich through the military industrial complex. Many war veterans supported higher taxes to help those in need, including the desire to help, through higher taxes, many of their fellow war veterans.

As of today county auditor Wayne Stein does not have the breakdown between new voters and those who registered as those with new addresses.....that's why generalizations had to be made...

Mr. Jacobson did a good job as head of Lake Region Hospital. He was very congenial with the general public. Nurses and staff I have spoken to also said he was a friendly CEO and and was very good at overseeing the overall operations of the hospital...we wish he and his family the very best.

If Francisco Liriano as a starter and Pat Neshek as a setup man for Joe Nathan can come through, this will indeed be an exciting year.....we need Boof Bonser and others to have good pitching seasons, as well......I think Twins hitting will be better than expected.....Go Twins in 2008!!!!!!

A pool like the one in Breckenridge...with some water slides etc. for kids....would be nice......that being said, the city should still keep Pebble Lake Beach....a beautiful location for swimming, picnicing or just plain relaxing during June, July and August.....
