On Restaurant treats vets to special feast

I feel there is a direct link between how people treat their "pets" and other human beings. When I was young, we had a neighbor who left their dog tied out all the time to a clothesline post. The dog ran so many circles that there was a indentation about 4 inches into the dirt around the post. I often brought the dog food, water and let it loose to play when I knew they were not home. One weekend we were gone and it rained all weekend. The 4 inch trench filled with water. The dog got so tired it had to lay down eventually, and it drown. When we arrived home, I saw the dog floating in the water...still tied up. I don't know what was worse, that the neighbor was home all weekend and watched it happen...or that the police did nothing about it when it was reported to them! Within 2 years this lady also had all of her children taken away!

On Dogs in Fergus Falls deserve more than chains

Is this even worth debating in the opinion section of the Journal? Anyone can see, by driving through Fergus Falls, which candidate will have the most votes in this town. I think I have only seen 2 Obama signs and hundreds of McCain signs. Think back to the 80's...remember the slogan "BO knows"? I know they were talking about a sports figure, but I think it fits for this year's campaign. Instead of NOBAMA, I say GOBAMA!!!

On NOBAMA is our nation’s best choice

What a wonderful story! Horray for the Johnson's to honor their son in such a giving spirit.

What a shame. The bear should have been shot with a tranquillizer gun, remove the jar, returned to the forest and let it try to recoup on its own. If it was too sick, nature should have decided that fate...not the DNR.
