Tdawg's right.
I agree that it's not necessarily the stadium that gets the recruits- it's the program.
Not that the new stadium won't be an improvement for the Gophs!
Teams like Ohio State, ND and Oklahoma have had long standing traditions of elite football power which (IMHO) aids the recruitment battle.
Stadiums are great but the program gets the recruits...

This is a _GREAT_ story!!!
I really hope this works for them!
It would be wonderful to have a business like this flourish in that community!!
GOOD WORK!!!!

Another sorry loss in a season of sorry losses.
Again, here's a 4th and 1 that they decide not to punt in their own territory. I think that shows desperation on the Vikes part and has been proven already that that is not the place to gamble.
The play calling is atrocious, they miss Henderson in the middle and the Williams boys (along with Allen)may find themselves in front of the commissioner asking for mercy.
A season that started with such promise is now tattered. The only way the Vikes get into the playoffs is to win the division.
That may not be too difficult with the way the Bears and Packers are playing, but even if they do make the playoffs, is it a "one and done" thing?
Frerotte is _not_ the answer! Has anyone been watching what that kid Thigpen has been doing down in KC? *sigh*
At this point, I question Childress' ability to plan, analyze talent and lead a professional team.
He's gotten the players, now it's his turn to make them winners.
If all we needed was a quarterback, then to heck with Gus and TJack, perhaps it's time for a little Booty!?
I'm out of the loop on winter baseball but the Twins look like a team that needs middle infield help this spring and I don't think giving up young pitching talent is the way to get that done.
What else do they have to trade besides pitching?

Vikes Defense is playing great!
News flash: Vikes special teams are playing like they're not so special.
Irrespective of Childress' call to go for it on 4th down, someone should have told Peterson to sit down and let the coaches make those calls!
Should he, at this stage of his career, be allowed to publicly voice his desire to "go for it?"
I say he should play within the confines of the "team" and let his self motivated inspirations be only known inside the clubhouse.
He's a wonderful talent and there's no doubt of that, but I fear his desire to win may cloud his coaches' judgement by allowing exactly that type of play to have merit.
It was 4th and about 1 from their own -40 yard line in the 4th quarter of a close game.
Logic says punt and let that defense, which had been pounding them all day, to do their job and get the ball back with some time.
As it was, they gave up enough yardage to give up a field goal that made it necessary to score a touchdown to go ahead
.
It all turned out good, but a brain fart by the coach in that situation is hard to stomach.
He has a bigger obligation to the team to win the game, and not give in to the objections of a second year player, no matter HOW good that player is!

another less than inspiring effort on the part of the brain trust of Fergus to allow yet another business slip through the cracks and escape, to China of all places.
When is government going to clamp down on all of our nation's businesses bailing overseas?
Why can't we tariff the horsefeathers out of those that decide India/China/Taiwan is a better clime for them to work out their profit margins???
The real questions here are: Where are these 70 + people going to find work that replaces what was lost?
Why should they have to commute all the way to Fargo to find decent work? Why not the Cities then?
It's absurd that a city like Fungus Flats can't entice enough productive manufacturers to their fair city to keep the inhabitants employed!!
What a sorry joke...

Where's the scarlet "S" for this kid?
County Attorneys are acting like the puritanical hypocrites we all know them for.

I agree with your assessment and am still astonished at the accomplishments of the Twins team this year. Even if they don't win the division, Gardenhire has, again, proven himself to be in the upper echelon of managers in professional baseball.
I am disappointed in the Twins leadership to add to their staff by making aggressive trades/personnel moves to bolster their lineup or staff.
Bringing back Liriano was deft, but what about the horrid bullpen?
Boof has lost whatever it was he had and with injuries and "off" years by other middle inning relievers, the Twinks better hope that this young core of starters can carry them through to Nathan time...
The other thing is that Young and Gomez are still work in progress, thus it may be another year before benefits are to be earned there.
Even if the Twins win the Central, those "ghosts" are still there for them to get past. (NY and Boston)
If neither of them (NY or Boston) end up on the Twins schedule in the post season, playing the Rays or the Angels seems to be the insurmountable task.
Irrespective of how/where they finish, I am tipping my hat to Gardenhire for such an outstanding job of managing new talent and fielding a competitive team this year!
Cubs and Angels? Yeah, I think on paper that's what it is, but as plucky as the Twins have been this year, I can no longer count them out. (Boy was I wrong about them this year)
Go Twins!

ok, enough of the drug sales....
Teofilo Stevenson was a _great_ olympian....
He just never made it as a pro.... do you ever wonder why?
They can say that Cuba wouldn't let him or whatever that story was, but it was also rumored that he was in his late 30s when he last defended his heavyweight olympic title...
Phelps gets the attention because the media knows that he is the golden boy, and golden boys/girls sell TV ratings...
The Twins are truly a surprise to me.... Gardenhire has to be credited with the teams success this year... now if they can only get past the ghosts of Boston/NY in the playoffs, if they can sustain their position..
What about the Vikes?
No chatter here yet about how "great" they're gonna be this year... (there's some bait for you)

Could it be that i was wrong all along???
Can the Twinks hold on with an unproven pitching staff, question marks at 3rd, 2nd and short?
Will Liriano's arm hold up?
Will Cuddyer _ever_ play again this year?
Will Span continue to play like his hair is on fire?
Will Gomez find his swing again?
Gardy has done all he can do with this squad this year. Commendable job! I still think that because of their combined youth/inexperience and the huge holes in the infield, that the Twins will be lucky to hold on to 1st place beyond August.
If they do(and they've proven me wrong all year)then it just goes to show you great management can develop talent even where $ is so tight.
Go Twins!
Favre? At this point, the Puckers will want to peddle him off to the Vikes hoping that they will be suckers and mortgage what equity they've already built in the team. I for one don't think that Favre is the answer, but since I've been wrong about the Twins so far this year, maybe he is the answer!
Jackson has prepared well (by _all_ indications) and in his 3rd season of Chilly's KA offense, he should be a stud this season.
On First Place!

Different spelling on Kilts, Tom.
Tdawg's answer sounds like it's straight out of the wikipedia!
Good job on that one... although, I have always been curious myself, of that "Keltic" vs. "Seltic" pronunciation!
Vikes play good "D" and their offense is still atrocious!
It was good to see that Peterson got benched the first two series for being late to a meeting/bus/whatever.
At least he's succeptable to disciplinary action, even though he's the stud of the team.
He manned up and said it was his fault, and that he "agreed" with the decision from the team hierarchy.
They still have a shot to make the playoffs if they run the table and get past Chitown and the Kitties in the next few weeks.
Their mettle will be tested against Atlanta, Phoenix and the Giants.
