So was anyone else a little surprised when they opened their blinds on Sunday Morning? Was it a happy surprise? I couldn't help it, but 15 seconds after I woke up Sunday morning.........I broke a commandment......I didn't keep the Lord's Day holy for about 10 words. I did recover and tried to salvage the rest of the day, but I was a little upset. You see, when I went to bed at 3:30am Sunday morning, there was a High Wind Advisory and a 20% chance for snow showers for Sunday. That's not what I saw when I woke up.
"Those early season precipitation events are tricky, because sometimes some areas will be rain and some will be snow.” Ok, I'll give them that one.........but what's their excuse for the rest of the year? Can you imagine any other profession where you can get your work right about 50% of the time and still have a job... especially where it involves life and death? People base travel plans on the Weather Gazers "Predicions". For those of us who live in this neck of the woods, accurate weather forecasts are a must. If you happened to be on the road based on Saturday nights predictions and found the storm had switched because:" “Sometimes the observation that works up there isn’t as dense as we would like it to be.” HUH???? You could have been in a real mess. I'm 57 years old. I grew up in a time that if the Weather People said it was going to storm for 3 days.......it did. There weren't approximately 150 Doppler radar sites spread throughout the country that covered 250 miles in every direction....but they still managed to get it right. It would appear that the only denseness that is involved here is on the part of todays "Forecasters". It sure must be easy to become a meteorologist these days because they're everywhere. Noone's a "weatherman [or woman] anymore....they're all meteorologists. Maybe they should just go back to using the Farmers Almanac. We all might be better off. By the way.....today's forecast calls for about 10 hours of daylight, followed by an extended period of darkness. Lets see them goof that one up.

After reading so many of the Pro-Streaking comments, and a number by adults with children, it's not hard to understand why there are so many losers on the county jail web site. It's just an extension of the growing make up and mentality of this community and county. It's pretty sad that as a society we've come to accept public nudity at a high school football game as normal behavior. My 13 yeard old daughter and her friends were at the game. They didn't care for it and found nothing funny about it. On the other hand.......No, don't throw the book at the kid. It was a dumb "Kid Thing", but don't defend his action as there being nothing wrong with it either. The next thing we'll hear about is somebody steaking a local church service and then many of the posters will again get on line and tell everyone to lighten up as there's really nothing wrong with that either. For those of you adults that are bragging about having done it years ago.......it was wrong then. You just don't get it, because if you did, you wouldn't be defending it 10-20 years later. There have to be some rules and a semblance of manners, consideration and/or couth in society if you expect to have a 1/2 way decent one. Yah, I know "lighten up". I don't think so.

I imagine some will also have a sad feeling when they see the rubble of the Walgreens building in a few years because it couldn't make a go of it. Then again, maybe it'll be Pamida. However, I see we have another Auto parts store in Fergus. How many does that make now.....5? No shoe store or a decent men's clothing store, but 5 auto parts stores. Of course, I'm sure the reason for all those A.P.'s is so everyone can buy their new mufflers so they don't get caught in the Great Fergus Falls Noise Crack Down that never happened. Another joke. Man, what a progressive little town we have here. VROOOM VROOOM! Yes....I know, if I hate the town so much, why don't I leave? If all of us that had concerns with this town left..........there wouldn't be many living here.

The Weasel.....I was just kidding around in a sarcastic manner. On the other hand, when it comes to politicians, I have no hero. Too many from both parties have let our nation down and sold it down the river. You talk about jumping to conclusions...and what's with the name calling? I didn't call you any names. I'm not your enemy. I respect your opinion. However, you seem to lack a certain degree of tolerance for those whose opinions differ from your own. Everyone has a right to their opinion, even if it's wrong. That's the great thing about this country.
Further down you said: "Like I said before we tried your way before, it didn’t work."
The failure belongs to both parties.....they've both had ample opportunities over the ages to fix this thing. The real problem is that most of them aren't interested in working together anymore, and that's what it's going to take if our nation is going to survive. I understand your point, but it's no one persons or one parties fault. They both need to work together to fix it.
And for the record....I'm not a dufus. A dilweed maybe, but definitely not a dufus. That really hurt!

Is that really true? George Walker Bush is to blame for how people are treated at the local Social Security office in Fergus Falls? Darn that guy......he seems to ruin everything. Yesterday I heard he caused the fish not to bite on Swan Lake. What's with him? Does he enjoy making people miserable? Here I thought the reason people were treated poorly in this town by anyone in a Service profession was because most of them are just nasty, rude, self centered people with no personality........you know......Fergus Fallites!!!! Now I find that George Walker Bush is responsible for that and many other things. We haven't had a good rain for a while....yah, I'll bet old George is at the bottom of that too. I wish he'd just stay out of local things. He's caused enough problems nationwide lately. I see he made Californication have an earthquake and Iowa is still ticked at him for the floods he sent. I heard he even made the Twins lose tonight. What an evil man...........he has way too much power. I can't wait for someone else to get elected in what is it.....97 more days or so. They'll fix everything and things will finally get straightened out. We can look forward to friendly people at the SSO, good fishin',rain and all sorts of great things, including a gush of oil on the market to force gas prices down, the stock market will straighten out as will the housing market. All those things that went up with gas prices will come tumbling down along with gas prices because heck, they always do. I mean why would prices stay up when the excuse for raising them no longer exists? Man it's gonna be great when George Walker Bush is gone. I just never knew that one person had that much power & control. It's too bad that the other party couldn't of had at least a little of that power or control over things.....it's just not fair. I'm sure they'll fix things good and proper when they're elected, because all politicians, except George Walker Bush, are honest, caring people with only the best interest of the country at heart. They'd never put their own personal interests ahead of the country. Everything was going so great b/4 that big meanie came along. Well I can't wait for November. Social Security will be saved, Healthcare costs will come down to affordable levels, everyone's taxes will drop like a stone.....Gosh....won't it be great? And of course, pigs will fly, the Vikings will win the super bowl and hell will freeze over too! Guess I'll be taking lots of awesome pictures!!

I'm not saying that towns don't need groups like the CDG, but this way of thinking is exactly why Fergus Falls is literally "Off the Map". Granted, this won't be a huge, blockbuster of a movie, but heck, it's something different for a change. It could bring this town some notoriety.... other than being the most boring, backward, afraid of change place on the planet. Correction, I've lived here since 1977 and I have seen change, but not much of it has been all that positive. We got a Mall......many of the downtown businesses left to locate there, then when they couldn't afford to stay, they just plain left Fergus. Now look at the Mall. What a joke! The city appears to have a real tough time managing itself with deals like the "Great Golf Course $ Giveaway", while our streets crumble and our schools lose music programs and teachers. It has never known how to promote itself or it's resources. Ex. more than 1000 lakes and streams in the county. Which business has a fishing contest? Which business has a Big Buck contest? Which business "Welcomes" hunters or fisherpeople. Where's a real Baitshop or Sporting Goods store?
Heck, where's a Mens clothing store or a shoe store? We have almost 14,000 people in this town, so why do towns that are a lot smaller, like Alex. and D.L. have these things and more and Fergus doesn't? Our towns leaders need to get "Out of the Box" and into the 21st century, and listen to "All" the people, even us "Lower Class" ones, if we're ever going to have any hope of attracting anything more progressive than a fast food joint or auto parts store to Fergus Falls. On the other hand, I could be wrong.

The reason there isn't more diversity in Congress is Money. Lawyers make a lot more money than the majority of other professions. It takes Millions to run a campaign and "buy"....I mean "get" elected. The average person doesn't stand a chance as they simply don't have that kind of money.

On Congress needs more diversity at the Capitol

Who isn't overworked and underpaid these days? Based on that......everyone should get a tip. Sometimes in restaraunts where I've received bad service, I'll give tips
like: " You're the 1st table service personnel I've seen in my area. I've been sitting here so long I had to shave again."Tip: Your service needs to improve here. or "My food isn't cooked properly and the vegetables are still partially frozen". : Tip: You need to hire a cook or learn how to use a micorwave. I think those can be valuable tips. As for expecting a tip after each meal......When the meal starts costing less than I make in a day, then there might be $ left over for a $ tip. Yah, I know........ but, but, but!!!!

On What you see should be cost
