Are you really going to vote for someone (or not) based on the fact that their wife works and they have young kids...I'm pretty sure...as I sat next to Greg at a dinner Wednesday night and have know his wife for years...that they didn't decide he would run for office last week. They know what they are doing...what this will mean to their family...and how they will deal with issues that arise. Honestly, give the guy a little credit...definitely it's where credit is due!

What is going to happen to these kids to don't pass the standards and can't graduate? How many will even try again? What are we going to do to make sure this doesn't happen? We have a lot of work to do...but who's shoulders does it fall on...parents, teachers, district leaders...all of us? But how do we get there? Are parents expected to take the first step in all of this? What would that step be? Scary stuff to think about if we sit and wait to see what happens. This better be a wake up call to the district so we aren't having our kids "left behind!"

You're kidding me, right? The library should not be involved? Where should we put the future of our children? I'm sorry, but the library needs all the support we can put forth. Yes, technology is important, but I want my four kids to be content to sit down with a good book rather than spend those hours surfing the internet or playing computer games. Children have too much screen time as it is and our family doesn't even have cable, in part, for that very reason! My 9 year old reads an hour+ everyday. We can't afford to go buy him more books all the time. Or for myself for that matter. I read a book every couple of weeks. The library is an important asset of this community and we should all be supporting it to the best of our ability.

That has since changed...this article actually has it right with May 9th. With the help of a computer program, they were able to start the dispersments earlier than expected. Check out the Minneapolis Star Tribune website sometime. It's a great wealth of information.

As I read the previous article on this topic, I saw so many comments ranting and raving about it. Do what I did, stop wasting your time reading them and go directly to the FF School District website, click on school board, and send them all an e-mail with your concerns. They are our elected officials, and blogging on the Journal's website isn't going to prove anything. Speak to them and let your voice and your concerns be heard in the correct form, directly to the school board officials.
