There is no "closure". I wish people, especially the media would quit using these useless words. There is never any closure when you are the victim of such a tragedy. I also detest the words "ultimate sacrifice". It makes it sound so pretty. Why doesn't the media say it like it is? They

This ride is for a very good cause but I would like to send a word of caution to those first time riders. We went on this run three years ago and the leaders rode VERY hard and fast with stops at quite a few bars. At the end of the ride at the Greystone, there were a number of riders who had obviously had a little too much to drink. We finished but wished we had quit sooner. I was very surprised that no one was hurt due to the speed of the ride. SLOW DOWN!!! and
leave the alcohol until the end of the ride. Don't spoil this ride with someone getting hurt or even killed.

There are a lot of people who have seen this coming for a long time. As someone who worked for these people for 4+ years, my feelings are this facility should have been shut down a long time ago, for a multitude of reasons. I feel very badly for the residents who will be uprooted and the people who will be losing their jobs. This facility has been blessed to have some wonderful, dedicated and caring employees working there. I don't appreciate that the state is being blamed entirely for the closing as there are those of us who know better. I hope some of the residents may be able to take advantage of the beautiful new assisted living facility to open soon. The facility would be lucky to employ some of the employees who will be losing their jobs.

I would like to know why the DNR, even with a controlled burn, can burn during a statewide burning ban. Also, I wonder how many nests they destroyed during this burn. Why does the DNR have to pick prime nesting season to burn, burn, burn everything in sight?

There are 4 legged angels in this world and anyone who doesn't believe it, go and watch this angel in action. The world needs more young ladies like Ashton. What a lucky dog Doc is to be loved like he is. Thankyou Ashton. What a wonderful story.

Obviously you are not a parent or you wouldn't be asking those questions. No, nothing will ever make them feel better or bring their beautiful daugher back. The other family will never go through what the Johnson's are going through. Kids need to know there are consequences for their actions and sometimes those consequences are very severe and need to be. This young 13 year old has some very serious issues to deal with. I certainly don't want him to have another chance in the coming years to do this again to someone else's child. At the time this happened, my granddaughter was 2 years old and I am still unable to understand the horror the Johnson's went through and are still going through, much less dealing with what their 2 year old daughter went through. THERE'S NO GETTING OVER IT!

I had a similar experience with the DNR only this was about 5 baby raccoons that had been living in my granary and eating the cat food I had set out in a bucket. We found their mother dead. I captured the little critters and called the local DNR officer and asked him what to do with them. He told me to throw them out in a ditch somewhere, there's too many of them anyway. If he came and got them, he would kill them. Of course, I wasn't going to have that. They were innocent creatures, deserving of decent treatment and the chance to live. I talked to another person who was quite knowledgeable about raccoons and on this person's advice, I bought a huge bag of cat food and brought the little critters out to some property with a corn field, creek and other coons. I opened the bag of cat food and opened the pet taxi and left the area. We checked on them often and as far as we could tell, most, if not all made it. The DNR wasn't interested in the least. I was very disapointed with their approach.

I'm with the majority of you. Lock them up and throw away the key. They made their choices and now they can reap what they sowed. I have relatives in and near Vining and I am glad this trash has been cleaned up. And YES, Mr. McManigle, you were locked up. I believe I saw your mug shot on the county jail website. No matter how bad you thought your life was, meth wasn't the answer and don't tell me you didn't know it. You're an adult. I think you can read and I am quite sure you watch the television since it's obvious you didn't have a job.No sympathy here.

I am sick and tired of hearing about the poor farmers and how the drought affects them. How about the road construction business? Do you have any idea how hard they were hit by too much rain? My family is a family of construction workers. They don't get any government help when the weather shuts them down for weeks at a time. How about the small businesses in Minnesota that depend on snow to bring the snowmobilers in the winter? I could go on and on. There is a government website that I visited awhile ago listing the names of Minnesota farmers and the windfall
they put in their bank accounts from government programs. It was very interesting. Now I see why most of the farmers in my area drive brand new pickups and have the biggest and best tractors in their fields. Not to mention the HUGE houses they keep remodeling and building onto. My husband's paycheck depends on the weather, where's our help when the weather doesn't cooperate?
