My comments on the drug suspect's criminal history came directly from www.mncourts.gov - that is not posting without fact. There was no vile or profane language. And it's not defamation if the things that are said are backed up by the facts. I wish the Daily Journal would print a little more of the criminal history of some of these "suspects". This will be my last post. From now on, people will have to "look it up" themselves. Bye :)

It's hardly a "new world of unpredictable weather". We have kids in their 20's - one was born on April 27, and the other on May 3. I remember at least 4 times over the past 25 years that we have had snow for their birthday parties. Unpredictable weather is hardly something new. The world is doing just fine.

There is a difference between being a "user" and a "dealer". Mr Hanson is clearly a dealer. He was convicted for possession of marijuana in 1997. Perhaps he was only a user then. Did he learn from that experience? Clearly, he did not. He was convicted for Felony Theft in 2005. Perhaps he was still only a user then, looking for money to support his habit. But now, he has been caught making multiple sales of narcotics, and has threatened witnesses (recorded on voice-mail, no less). If saying that he is a career criminal and deserves to go to jail is judgemental, so be it. If saying that he is stupid for threatening people on a voice-mail is judgemental, so be it. For those of you who defend this guy, perhaps he should live with you for the next 5 years instead of going to prison. I will agree with one point that tomanyjudge made - in Mr Hanson's case, NOTHING WILL CHANGE IF YOU KEEP DOING THE SAME THING. Figure it out.

I agree Venti - we had a nice, civil discussion going on regarding the "Drug Dealer" story. Why was it pulled? I can see where you need to delete individual comments on occasion (obscene language, name-calling, libelous statements, etc). Buy why was the comment section completely shut down on the Drug Dealer story??????

prowler - it does take a little time to test the drugs to make sure that they are indeed drugs. And busting the street level dealer on the first buy really does not get you any closer to his supplier, now does it? Hardly gestapo tactics - I think it is called good detective work.

He was convicted of Possession/Intent to Sell Marijuana here in Fergus Falls on 4/3/98. And many court records are open to the public.

Real smart - leave threats on a voice-mail. You are the weakest link - goodbye.

goingfishing - so the County folks "prefer to just reject most applications"?? Really?? Maybe you should visit their website and review the minutes of the Planning Commission and the Board of Adjustment. "Most" applications are not rejected, and those that are have good explanations as to why they are rejected. Do a little research before you make foolish statements that you can't substantiate.

On County rejects resort plans

This proposal was not "progress". It was an attempt to make more $$ at the expense of the lake, at a place that already has too many sites and boat slips for their frontage. We don't need that kind of "progress" in OTC. Thank you Commissioners and Planning Commission.
