I, for one, am very please with the smoking ban. Previously, everytime we were deciding where to go out for the evening the pro's and con's would always fall to that gross stench we faced when we came home at night, if we went to a bar, as well as the cough and tight lungs that wouldn't clear up until the following afternoon. This past year I have been able to go to bars, listen to great music and party with my friends and even pull on the same jeans in the morning that I had on the evening before, without the stench. Our social lives have seen freedom. The bars have gotten more business from our household at a result of this ban. On the bigger economic picture, I think that maybe specific "smoking bars" labeled as such may be practical for those who do smoke, but then aren't all the doctors telling every smoker to quit before they or their friends and family end up with cancer, emphazima(sp?), etc?. If there were "smoking bars", do you really think they would stay in business very long considering how many people are waking up and quitting smoking?

I just have one question. Who are the "we" that you are referring to in your belief that Congress should reconvene and pass this bill? I don't think they should pass anything and an investigation and some research should be done on the causes within all the years that lead up to this. Here on "Main Street" we've been feeling a pinch in our budgets long before the Corporate Finance companies or the White House ever admitted there was a problem. Let's let Wall Street level off with some basic supply and demand rules and let the Washington take some responsibility for lack of oversite and corporate kickbacks from lobbyists.

At the very beginning of the article it says "Minnesota Legilation". This was a state decision that greatly affects Otter Tail county.

YES! Thank you for this wonderful article. I hope many, republicans, democrats, and independent voters alike, read this, think hard, and do a bit of their own research to confirm all the mistakes made and laws broken by the Bush administration.

The state of MN already has permits required for junkyards. This would require more permits for businesses that are already spending too much time on red tape.

Understandingly this could create more economy for Fergus Falls, but what I'm troubled with is that it is with China. How much of our money already goes to foreign investments. Is this what our universities have to do to get funding; pair up with another foreign investor?

On Chinese interest in RTC remains high
