After watching tonight's game, I'm going to have to amend my comments above. The Cowboys and Eagles have real first string quarterbacks, the Vikes have a third stringer at best. The Cowboys and the Eagles have coaches, we've got nothing. I wonder when Ziggy will see it.

I don't think there are individuals to blame but our overall approach to the game looks lame. It seems we're back in the Dennis Green days where you play to stay close and win them at the end. Beat the poor teams and splitting the games against the good teams puts you in the playoffs and that is how Green coached. I tuned into the Denver game after both of our games and I must say they are so refreshing to watch. The offense is innovative and exciting and they are always getting after it, thay almost never sit back on defense. They even must pay the refs better after watching yesterdays game. Their approach to the game is fun and our approach is boring. In Chilly's defense, they lose games because of it, but it sure is more fun to watch.
I'm not real bummed about the Colts loss, just an inch or two on a couple plays would've resulted in a win. I just don't like our approach to the game.
I do agree with TDog, I think the jury is in and I don't think Chilly wants to hear the verdict.

Jay told me about your voice challenges. Just to let you know, I was golfing today and after a bad shot, I swore very loudly in your honor. No raspy whisper here, and I did it all for you. Get better soon, we're thinking of you.

Just got back from ramblin down to Vikes training camp. My impression of Jerod Allen is excellent. He seemed to bring a lot of energy to the team. He and Pat and Kevin Williams seem to be the leaders out there. I was very unimpressed with the receivers. They just don't have that great of hands, even Berrian.
On Phelps, he's way overdone. There are other Americans placing in races with him and they never even show them. Great swimmer though. Another great Olympian was that Russian Greco-Roman wrestler that was undefeated in forever and had opponents even throwing their matches early so he couldn't hurt them. When USA's Gardner broke his run, he was so gracious too.
The Twins? They are getting so much from a decent young team. You have to really love our chances in the next few years. I don't know why they are so reluctant to go after a relief pitcher though.

Hey I'm baaack! It's been a long spring and summer but it's slowing down now. I think the Chisox made the best deal, gave up not much to help make a run. Griffey will help I think. I'm guessing we're looking at the waiver wire in three days for help. Livan may be on waivers as we speak. I was listening to Pat Reuese (however he spells it) and he expects some quality players on there. I hope so, I don't think the Twinks can hold up as is.

For what it's worth Ghostly_1, I really appreciate a civil response. I don't write much here just because you get lambasted by some of these writers. You seem to be very knowledgeable, I think we could have a very fun and constructive debate. There is alot of bad info out there on ethanol and I can't claim all of what I've learned is right either, but I have been in agriculture for 30 years and I will stick by my statement that food prices have risen because of fuel prices and the weak dollar. I am actually what some people would call an environmentalist. I assist farmers in using as little pesticides as necessary, I have headed up a citizen committee to clean the water up in our area watershed. I serve on a soil and water board. I even have invested in wind farms. I don't do this out of idealism but out of a desire to make some money or help others make make some too. But I have come to detest environmental activists as they are not interested in anything but their agendas and inflicting damage to progress. They see nothing but what they want. I am not one of them. There are other ways, your fuel cells and nuclear plants are two of them. Keep preaching! Also, one last thing about food prices; the high farmer prices for grains really haven't hit the market that much yet. Most of the grain produced by my clients were sold at prices way below what they are now as they had contracted the prices a long time ago. It is the nature of farming. This fall's crop will be sold at much higher levels on the farm. It will be interesting to see what food prices do this next winter.

Just his name and his 1964 Topps baseball card put Jerry Lumpe in with the F.O.G. group even though he wasn't all that fat. Moose Skowren could fit in also. There was also the manager for the Sioux Falls Canaries in the Northern League a couple years ago. I can't remember his name but he went out to change pitchers and his uniform only accentuated his extra pounds. There was a guy in the crowd who when it was real quiet yelled, "that's one fat canary!" I felt bad for the guy but he laughed too so I guess it wasn't the first time he had heard it.

The opening entry by Ghostly_1 reflects my thoughts too except for one statement, you have bought into the lie that ethanol is responsible for high food prices. I just listened to a tv announcer lead-in his report with the talk of soaring food prices and then stated that food prices are up 4.5 - 5% for the year. That is not what I would call soaring. Compare that to the "soaring" price of energy and the "soaring" price of farm imputs (it will probably end up being 30-40% increases, fertilizer alone is doubled). Food prices are up because of increased transportation costs thanks to fuel prices and the lower value of the dollar allowing other countries to more easily purchase our crop commodities. Fuel prices would certainly not be cheaper with no ethanol, and our dollar would certainly not be stronger with a further dependence on foreign oil because we don't have ethanol. Furthermore, the vast majority of the corn crop in the US is used for livestock feed and after making ethanol, most of the feed is still there as a by-product. Ethanol uses up the starch that isn't that valuable as feed. Corn is not used in virtually everything we eat as stated. Milk is expensive now, well the dairy farmer still isn't getting it. Bread is up, but it isn't the wheat farmer getting it. Some wheat farmers did get a unbelievably high price for wheat this winter, but guess why it was so high, there was hardly a farmer who had any. Prices of wheat have dropped way back now but has your bread price? Check out the profits that General Mills had the last quarter of last year and the first quarter of this year. Energy costs and the weak dollar are responsible for the higher food prices, leave ethanol out of it.
But for the rest of what was written, I agree. I made a statement a couple years ago that the biggest threat to the United States is not Al Qaida, but environmental activists. I see no reason to think I'm wrong. There is a planned oil refining plant for South Dakota, none has been built in the US for a long time but guess what? The environmentalists are going to fight it. Go figure.

A called strike is just a wasted opportunity to hit something. I'm all for being aggressive.

Frerotte did a pretty fair job, not a huge jump over TJack but better. I don't consider Frerotte a first stringer but a step up. I still think if TJack can sit and watch for a couple years, he'll be fine. Romo never got on the field for three years, TJack was forced in too early. I do think the Vikes will be better off if Adrian doesn't run thirty times a game. I think last week was a good blue-print on how the Vikes will win games. I like the defense, they're not perfect but pretty darn good.
As for the Twins pitching, I think they are just plain tired. They've had a lot of innings under their belt. They're up 7-1 as I write so they are in the hunt!
